Robbie Williams, Alex James and more satirised in ‘Rehab: The Musical’

Robbie Williams and Blur‘s Alex James are amongst those satirised in a new production called Rehab: The Musical.

The musical will open at south London’s Union Theatre on September 20 and will only run for four nights through September 23.

Rehab was written by Grant Black and Murray Lachlan Young and focuses on a fictional ’90s star called Kid Pop. He is “reluctantly consigned by the authorities to The Glade, a rehab centre for cross-dressing roommates, tanning addicts, group therapy and terrible food.”

The pair have had to seek the advice of lawyers due to the self-proclaimed “edgy” musical’s nature. “We’ve had a couple of warning shots across the bows, so we’re taking advice from our lawyer,” Young told iNews. “We don’t want to have to take too much out. It’s an edgy musical and if people can’t see the humour they should go and see Matilda instead.”

He added that he thought those who inspired the production would probably be on board with it. “Robbie would probably laugh his head off at it,” Young said. “Alex James has broad shoulders and enough cheese to keep him going.”

He also explained that the musical wasn’t intended to make light of the serious problem of addiction. “Addiction is a real issue and it has wrecked people’s lives,” he said. “But I know people can laugh at their actions when they were at their lowest ebb.

“We have to find satire in life where we can and not take things too seriously all the time. This is a story about hope and the idea that people are able to change their lives.”

Is that you, Pennywise? Red balloon appears at Stephen King’s Maine home

Stephen King has brought a (spine-tingling) bit of the fictional town of Derry, Maine, to his real-life home.

Multiple news outlets noticed this week that a single red balloon has appeared in a window of the author’s house in Bangor, an apparent nod to the evil clown Pennywise from the upcoming film adaptation of his famed novel, It.

King hasn’t commented on the balloon’s appearance on social media, but with the It theatrical release just over a week away, it seems like it’s meant as a clever reference to the film. Or maybe a rogue balloon from an unrelated celebration got loose and he didn’t notice. Sure.

Sean Connery Smiles As US Open Plays James Bond Theme in His Honor During Rare Appearance

Sean Connery made a rare public appearance at the US Open Tuesday night in Queens, New York during Roger Federer’s five-set win over Frances Tiafoe.

The 87-year-old actor sat courtside and looked visibly pleased when they showed him on the large screen at the game as the James Bond theme music played in his honor. Members of the audience remarked how happy the legendary actor looked when the song played.

Connery has made few public appearances since retiring from acting in 2006 and playing his last role in 2003’s The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, but seems to make exceptions for the annual tennis tournament. He was also seen attending in 2015 and 2012.

The actor immortalized the secret agent in the first five Bond films from 1962 to 1967 before returning for one more with 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever. Though Roger Moore later took his record for most Bond films, Connery is still revered by fans as one of the best actors to take on the coveted role.

Slipknot’s Clown on how new movie ‘Day Of The Gusano’ recaptures the madness of their early days

Taylor Swift’s new album is the week’s most meme-able thing

Is this why Cersei and Bronn never share scenes in Game of Thrones?

Spoilers follow for Game of Thrones season 7 episode 7 – The Dragon And The Wolf.

Wine GIF – Find & Share on GIPHY

Discover & Share this Wine GIF with everyone you know. GIPHY is how you search, share, discover, and create GIFs.

This week’s Game of Thrones season 7 finale brought nearly all the major characters left in the series to the Dragonpit for a huge meeting about the White Walker threat facing them all. Everyone who was anyone was there – but two characters you might expect to have met onscreen were yet again kept apart: Cersei (Lena Headey) and Bronn (Jerome Flynn).

Bronn once worked for Tyrion, and more recently he’s been Jaime’s bestie. You’d think he might be on speaking terms with Cersei, but in the show the pair have always been kept separate. In the latest instance, Bronn took Pod aside ahead of the Dragonpit meeting so the pair of them could go and have a drink – instead of attending an important diplomatic meeting that, as Jaime’s right-hand man, Bronn probably would have wanted to be privy to. Why?

Well, several fans on Reddit have pointed out a Telegraph article from 2014 that could explain it. Headey and Flynn used to date in the early ’00s, and The Telegraph‘s source suggests the pair aren’t even talking to each other these days. “Jerome and Lena aren’t on speaking terms any more,” the source said, “and they are never in the same room at the same time. It’s a pity because they appeared to have patched things up for a while, but now the word is they should be kept apart at all costs.”

In 2003 Flynn said of his relationship with Headey: “We’re not a couple right now, people have seen us together and jumped to conclusions. I can’t rule out a relationship with her in the future, I just don’t know.”

Here’s hoping they sort things out – who wouldn’t want to see Bronn and Cersei in a war of words?

Kevin Hart Challenges Celebrities to Donate to Texas Relief With Chris Brown Answering the Call & Pledging $100,000

The Jumanji actor, 38, took to Instagram Monday to encourage his fellow celebrities to donate to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in light of the destructive flooding that has left millions of people without shelter or safety.

“Today, I’m calling out more [friends],” Hart said. “Instead of donating $25,000, I did $50,000.”

Click the link in my Bio & help me help Houston as well as the other cities that are being affected by Hurricane Harvey....I will be able to track this money and make sure that it is being used properly. Keep your head up Houston & keep your faith. I love you all & my prayers are with you!!!! Click the link in my Bio....I will be calling out celebs daily. You also don't have to be a celebrity to donate....Any and everybody can click the link and help out!!!! CLICK THE LINK IN MY BIO

A post shared by Kevin Hart (@kevinhart4real) on Aug 28, 2017 at 3:37pm PDT

“I call out T.I., I call out Nelly, my boy Usher, Ludacris, the rest of the Houston Rockets,” he continued. “I call out my man Chris Brown, I call out Drake.”

Hart added he is imploring “simply anybody right now who’s in a powerful position who can impact this issue through social media. Let’s really try to save some lives.”

“I think we’ve participated in a lot of challenges on the Internet. Some meaningful, some meaningless, but we’ve all done ’em,” he said. “At this point this is a serious matter. I think that people are in bad shape and they need help. I’m going to lead the charge and step up this way.”

He challenged JAY-Z, Beyoncé, Chris Rock, Justin Timberlake, Steve Harvey and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson among others to donate.

“Kevin Hart, I accept your challenge,” the “With You” singer said. “We need to come together. I’m donating $100,000. So man, this is for everybody in Texas, the relief and everything. I implore and encourage everybody else, who can change and make a change for this, to please donate and help out.”

The singer did, however, question whether the money would go where it is really needed.

Stay strong Houston and hold onto faith. Me and my family know what you're going thru. We survived the eye of Andrew and became stronger - so will you. All my love and strength. * Link in my bio in you can donate a buck or two to our Houston families in need.

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on Aug 27, 2017 at 6:11pm PDT

In a statement to The Houston Chronicle, Beyoncé pledged to give back to her native Houston, Texas.

“My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help,” she said.

She continued, “I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John’s in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can.”

Hurricane Harvey made landfall northeast of Corpus Christi, Texas, on Friday evening. Since then, it has ravaged the state, leaving millions of people to battle catastrophic flooding.

Buildings were ripped apart and firefighters were unable to respond to victims in the hours after the storm hit and traveled across Texas. What began as a Category 4 storm with winds of 130 miles per hour, became a Category 3 hurricane.

Harvey’s rains have inundated Houston, leaving residents stranded on their roofs and homeless. The storm has brought destructive rain to Texas’ largest cities — including Houston, Austin and San Antonio — and Louisiana, resulting in five deaths and 12 injuries, according to the latest reports.

Listen to ‘Day I Die’, the new single from The National

‘Rick and Morty’ creators distance themselves from brutal ‘Game of Thrones’ joke

19 Years Later: See where your favorite Harry Potter characters are now

September 1, 2017 marks the official “19 Years Later” date from the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, wherein a grown-up Harry Potter sees his own children off to Hogwarts.

Though J.K. Rowling has not written the encyclopedia she once mused about, she has kept us plenty informed about the lives of her characters since the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Via Pottermore, as well as various interviews and tweets, Rowling has filled us in on everything from the new landlady of The Leaky Cauldron to the approximate value of a Galleon. As we approach the real-time date of the polarizing Deathly Hallows epilogue, let’s check in on what some of the denizens of the Wizarding World are up to almost two decades later. Is all as well as purported to be?

(Apologies in advance if this list is just a reminder of how all of your favorite characters died. We had the same problem when compiling it. We wish we could tell you the futures of Sirius Black, Dobby, Lupin, Tonks, Fred, and so many more. Sob.)

19 years later—where are they now?

Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley

Harry and Ginny have found relative domestic bliss following the trauma of their teen years. They have three children: James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. When Harry’s not busy apologizing to Albus Severus for giving him the worst name of all time, he has a busy career. Harry fulfilled his dream of becoming an Auror and eventually rose to the top of the department before heading up the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. He has also followed in his godfather Sirius’ footsteps, acting as a father figure to Teddy Lupin, child of the late Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks.

Ginny has enjoyed an athletic career on and off the Quidditch pitch: Immediately following the Battle of Hogwarts, she played professionally for the Holyhead Harpies. After retiring her broomstick, she became the senior Quidditch correspondent and eventual sports editor at one-time fake news outlet The Daily Prophet.

Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley

Hermione and Ron have also enjoyed romantic happiness (in spite of some naysaying) and have two children, Rose and Hugo. Ron joined Harry as an Auror at the Ministry of Magic, where they “revolutionized” the department. After only two years, Ron left the Ministry to co-manage the wizarding joke emporium Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, alongside his brother George. His greatest achievement to date remains getting his picture on a Chocolate Frog Card.

Hermione was the only member of the original trio to complete her schooling at Hogwarts. After which, she went on to a successful career in the Ministry of Magic. She began her path continuing the work of S.P.E.W. at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, where she promoted better treatment of house-elves. In spite of her slightly-unhinged house elf obsession, she eventually became Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement before rising to the top job of Minister of Magic.

The Malfoy Family

After changing allegiances at the last minute, the entire Malfoy clan avoided imprisonment in Azkaban following the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998. Draco married Astoria Greengrass, and together, they raised their son Scorpius to have more tolerant views. Details about Draco’s career remain fuzzy – he pretty much seems to be a pureblood trust-fund baby living off the wealth of Malfoy Manor.

Neville Longbottom

After his stealth fast track to the title of Hogwarts’ sexiest man alive (see: every recent photo of Matthew Lewis), Neville ultimately returned to school. Following a brief stint as an Auror, Harry’s loyal friend returned to Hogwarts as a Herbology professor, where he became one of the school’s most beloved teachers. He married Hannah Abbott from Hufflepuff (sorry Luna!) and they reside at the Leaky Cauldron, where she is the landlady. However, Abbott has reportedly left the Leaky Cauldron and applied to replace Madam Pomfrey as the next Matron of Hogwarts (but this is according to Rita Skeeter).

Luna Lovegood

Luna indulged her love of rare (and possibly imaginary) magical creatures by becoming a magizoologist (magical naturalist). It’s fitting, then, that she married Rolf Scamander, grandson of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author Newt Scamander. They have twin sons, Lorcan and Lysander. Most likely, they spend their spare time hunting for Crumple-Horned Snorkacks.

Gregory Goyle

Goyle’s occupation and whereabouts are unknown (though he’s undoubtedly still mourning his bromance with Vincent Crabbe). We kind of hope his present-day life is something like that of the actor who portrayed him in the films, as Joshua Herdman is now an amateur MMA cage fighter. Malfoy did always rely on Goyle for his muscle more than his brains.

Cho Chang

Harry’s first crush survived the Battle of Hogwarts and then married a Muggle… which, honestly, is just such a Cho Chang thing to do.

Lavender Brown

TBD. Brown was ravaged by Fenrir Greyback during the Battle of Hogwarts, but was later seen “feebly stirring,” a hopeful phrasing that has caused heated debate among fans.

Rubeus Hagrid

Harry’s first adult friend and confidante is still living and working on the grounds at Hogwarts. Despite a brief romance with Madame Maxime, he never married because she was too “sophisticated” for them to be a good long-term match. Harsh, Madame M, harsh.

Dean Thomas

Survived, but whereabouts unknown. Rumor has it he went to law school in the States where he learned how to get away with murder. (But really, J.K., where is he? Is he a manager for West Ham now? What’s the deal?)

Seamus Finnigan

Survived, but whereabouts unknown. We assume he probably returned to Ireland. Honestly, we hope he and Dean are off living their best lives together, which you know involves Dean’s futile struggle to explain the rules of Muggle football to him on a daily basis.

Minerva McGonagall

After the Battle of Hogwarts, Professor McGonagall returned to her position as headmistress of Hogwarts. She has brought her “suffer no fools” pragmatism and deep loyalty to the job ever since. We assume her Animagus abilities make catching students up to no good a relatively easy task, though we won’t be surprised if disciplining a third generation of Potters and Weasleys sends her into retirement.

Sybill Trelawney

Trelawney returned to her post as Divination teacher and continued to predict the deaths of her students. She also penned a book about Divination entitled My Eyes and How to See Past Them, which, ironically, Hermione keeps on her shelf in her Ministry office.

Gilderoy Lockhart

The former professor and James Frey of the Wizarding World permanently resides in the Janus Thickey Ward of St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, still suffering from a backfired memory curse.

The Weasley Brothers

All of the Weasley brothers have made good in their own way. George suffered a devastating loss from which he never really recovered, when twin brother Fred was killed in the Battle of Hogwarts. Despite that, joke shop Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes became an even bigger money-maker with Ron joining George as a co-manager. He also married his Gryffindor Quidditch teammate, Angelina Johnson, and they have two children: Fred (all the feels) and Roxanne.

Charlie is still a dragon wrangler and remains a bachelor (unclear whether this means he is a “confirmed Bachelor” in the old Hollywood/Rock Hudson sense or if he’s just still single). If it’s the latter, where is the crossover fan-fiction between him and Daenerys Targaryen? We imagine he’d give Jon Snow a run for his money.

Percy married a woman named Audrey and they have two daughters, Lucy and Molly (aw!). Always a government man, he remained true to the Ministry and is currently the Head of the Department of Magical Transportation. (Maybe he can do some consulting work for the NYC MTA?)

Moaning Myrtle

Still haunting the first-floor girls’ bathroom. Still thinks Harry’s hot.

Pansy Parkinson

Whereabouts unknown. Still thirsty for Draco.

Fleur Delacour and Bill Weasley

Fleur and Bill are still happily married (in spite of his face serving as werewolf’s Fenrir Greyback’s appetizer on the night Dumbledore died). After the war, Fleur was awarded medals of bravery from the French and British Ministries of Magic. Bill has since returned to his work as a curse-breaker for Gringotts. They have three children: Victoire, Dominique, and Louis. If these characters’ tendencies for marrying their high-school sweethearts holds strong, Victoire may provide yet another link between the Weasleys and Potters – she was spotted snogging Harry’s godson, Teddy Lupin, on the Hogwarts Express and at the 2014 Quidditch World Cup.

Dudley Dursley

Now with a family of his own, Dudley remains on “Christmas card terms” with his cousin Harry. Harry’s family visits when they’re in the neighborhood, which, for obvious reasons, his kids hate. Aunt Petunia passed away of unknown causes, and it is unclear whether Uncle Vernon is still alive.

Viktor Krum

Krum is still doing what he does best: Playing Quidditch. He retired for a few years, but returned to play for Bulgaria with the aim of winning the World Cup, which he did in 2014 (a match attended by Harry, Ginny, Hermione, Ron, and their families). Not much has changed for Krum, but fingers crossed he’s figured out that brow sitch.

Dolores Umbridge

The pink menace was arrested, interrogated, and imprisoned in Azkaban following the Second Wizarding War. She earned a life sentence for her crimes against fashion and kittens and Muggleborns.

Rita Skeeter

Though she still writes her poison-pen gossip column for The Daily Prophet (most famously reporting on Harry and company at the 2014 Quidditch World Cup), Skeeter has largely made her fortune writing tawdry, speculative biographies. Titles have included Snape: Scoundrel or Saint? and Dumbledore’s Army: The Dark Side of the Demob, as well as vastly inaccurate biographies of Harry Potter and Newt Scamander.

Kingsley Shacklebolt

Immediately following the Second Wizarding War, Kingsley Shacklebolt was confirmed as the Minister of Magic. He held the position until being succeeded by Hermione Granger. Alongside the members of Dumbledore’s Army, Shacklebolt led the movement to reform the Wizarding World. He banned the use of Dementors at Azkaban, overturned pro-pureblood laws, and worked to eliminate corruption at the Ministry.

All the rest…

Though we have a lot of information, there are also several individuals whose whereabouts and occupations are currently unknown. They are: Ernie MacMillan, Susan Bones, Lee Jordan, Molly and Arthur Weasley (likely enjoying grand-parenting), Professor Flitwick, Professor Sprout, Kreacher, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and the Patil twins. We can only assume — and hope — they are alive and well.

Watch Johnny Depp crack up in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 bloopers

Captain Jack Sparrow is savvy, but he’s not that savvy. Like every other movie in Hollywood history, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales didn’t make it to the big screen without leaving its share of axed takes on the cutting room floor, ruined whether by actor or accident.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales also stars Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Geoffrey Rush, Kaya Scodelario, and Orlando Bloom. The film debuted in May but soon arrives — with the aforementioned bloopers, plus copious deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes — on Disney digitally (Sept. 19) and Blu-ray/DVD/on demand (Oct. 3).

Paris Jackson Pays Tribute to Late Father Michael on Singer's 59th Birthday: 'You Are Always with Me'

The 19-year-old shared the powerful tribute on Instagram early Tuesday morning, posting an old photo of herself and her father sharing a kiss.

“Birthday wishes to the love of my life, the one person who showed me what passion truly was, the one that gave me solid morals to live by and how to dream,” she began.

“I will never feel love again the way i did with you. you are always with me and i am always with you. though i am not you, and you are not me, i know with all of my being that we are one. and our souls will never change in that way. thank you for the magic, forever and always.”

Michael died of cardiac arrest in June 2009 at his Los Angeles home. He was 50.

Jackson made headlines at the awards show with a powerful political speech — one she said her father would be proud of.

“So, let’s leave here tonight remembering that we must show these Nazi, white supremacist jerks in Charlottesville and all over the country,” she said. “We have zero tolerance for their violence, their hatred, and their discrimination. We must resist.”

She defended herself on Tuesday against many who criticized her speech, alluding in a series of Twitter posts to her father’s approval.

Exclusive! Naomi Campbell Talks Paris Jackson’s New Career Moves: ‘She’s Going to Be an Incredible Actress’

“If you constantly talking bout how much ya love an artist who made his whole message ‘peace n love,’ maybe dont obsessively spread hate,” she began in a tweet. She added in another: “Oh he’d be disappointed in me? for my activism n positive messages? hunty you da one nonstop saying the most vile, hateful, f—– up things.”

Jackson wasn’t the only family member to honor Michael on Tuesday. Michael’s older sister, La Toya Jackson, shared a Twitter photo of herself and Michael smiling.

“Happy Birthday to the most #loving #caring good-hearted #talented person ever!” she wrote. “We miss U we #love U #MJ😘 The King Of Pop #MichaelJackson.”

Decoding Tyrion Lannister's Reaction to Jon Snow and Daenerys in the Game of Thrones Finale

As Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen consummated their relationship on one of Dany’s ships in Game of Thrones‘ season seven finale, a troubled Tyrion Lannister was shown standing outside the door of the room. The moment led some fans to question the nature of Tyrion’s feelings for the Dragon Queen, as it appeared he may be jealous of her connection with Jon.

While the show has never explicitly stated that Tyrion’s feelings for Daenerys run deeper than those of a devoted Hand of the Queen, it’s possible he might feel something more. Following Dany’s breakup with Daario Naharis in the season six finale, Tyrion comforted her by assuring her she would have other romantic opportunities. “He wasn’t the first to love you,” he told her. “And he won’t be the last.”

There was also a moment in Sunday’s episode that suggested Daenerys may occupy the same spot in Tyrion’s heart that Shae once did. After Tyrion confronted Cersei about her refusal to call a truce, his sister taunted him about championing Dany: “I shouldn’t be surprised, I suppose. She’s your kind of woman, a foreign whore who doesn’t know her place.”

There’s also some evidence from George R.R. Martin’s original outline of the A Song of Ice and Fire series — as noted by Vanity Fair — that indicates Tyrion and Jon were destined to fall in love with the same woman. However, Martin initially planned for this woman to be Arya.

Exiled, Tyrion will change sides, making common cause with the surviving Starks to bring his brother down, and falling helplessly in love with Arya Stark while he’s at it. His passion is, alas, unreciprocated, but no less intense for that, and it will lead to a deadly rivalry between Tyrion and Jon Snow.

On the other hand, Peter Dinklage — who plays Tyrion — indicated that his character’s reaction came from a place of concern over how their coupling will further complicate the already tense politics of Westeros. “It’s dangerous for everybody involved. I’m sure it’s good for both of them in the moment, but you don’t even get the relief of how beautiful it could be or should be,” he said during a cast commentary on the scene. “It’s just it’s not good — but it should be but it’s not. It’s Game of Thrones. It’s a long history of romance not ending well on this show.”

JAY-Z Reveals Why He and Beyoncé Chose the Names Rumi and Sir for Their Twins

The “Empire State of Mind” rapper, 47, opened up on Friday to Rap Radar hosts Elliot Wilson and Brian Miller about how he and the “Formation” singer, 35, came to choose the names Rumi and Sir .

“Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter,” he shared. “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.”

The father of three also revealed how the couple’s firstborn, 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, ended up rapping a freestyle on his new album, 4:44, while they were in the recording studio together.

“She got the headphones and she climbed on the little stool, and then she just started rapping,” JAY-Z said. “I was like, ‘Oh, s—.’ I haver [her full freestyle] on my phone. Five minutes! Five minutes of her doing that.”

He also touched on the hook that went viral after the song was released in early July.

“She kept doing that ‘boom shakalaka, boom shakalaka.’ I was like, ‘Oh, she understands the concept of a hook,'” he said. “She’s 5, and she understands the concept of a hook. I was like, ‘What the f— is going on here?’ One of the great memories.”

Besides talking about his oldest daughter’s music skills, the Grammy Award winner said his family will be joining him on tour.

“I booked the tour for October so I could have at least four months to just really bond and see their fingers and s— like that,” he said.

“They’ll be with me [on tour] anyway, but I’m just saying, like, [I needed] a space where I’m not doing anything,” he continued. “I’m just focused on them. I’m not thinking about a show at night or anything like that. That’s why the tour is so far away from the release of the album.”

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN’ was meant to be listened to in reverse, too

Kendrick Lamar has revealed that his latest album ‘DAMN.’ was meant to be played in reverse, too.

– Exclusive NME offer: Save £10 on Amazon Music Unlimited plans with code NME10

The Compton rapper released the album on April 14 following a stand-alone track (‘The Heart Pt. 4’) and its official lead single, ‘Humble’. The new album features credited guest spots from Rihanna and U2, while the likes of Kaytranada, James Blake and Rat Boy are all present in some form on the record.

In a new interview with MTV News, Lamar said that the whole album should be played from the last track to the first, as well as the first to the last.

“I think like a week after the album came out, [fans] realized you can play the album backwards,” he said. “It plays as a full story and even a better rhythm. It’s one of my favorite rhythms and tempos within the album. It’s something that we definitely premeditate while we’re in the studio,” he said.

“I don’t think the story necessarily changes, I think the feel changes,” he added. “The initial vibe listening from the top all the way to the bottom is … this aggression and this attitude. You know, ‘DNA,’ and exposing who I really am. You listen from the back end, and it’s almost the duality and the contrast of the intricate Kendrick Lamar. Both of these pieces are who I am.”

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar will perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, marking the first time he’s ever appeared as a solo artist.

Revealing the news on Twitter, MTV tweeted: “‘Kendrick Lamar will be performing at the 2017 @VMAs on 8/27.”

He’s been nominated for Video Of The Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Choreography (X2), Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.

The ceremony takes place on August 27, with Katy Perry announced on hosting duties.

Krysten Ritter: Jessica Jones Is a 'Refreshing Female Image' & 'a Character We've Been Waiting for'

Jessica Jones fights crime in Hell’s Kitchen — but actress Krysten Ritter believes her character crusades for well-rounded, fully realized female roles in Hollywood.

Starring as the Marvel vigilante in both Netflix’s Jessica Jones and The Defenders, Ritter says she appreciates playing a woman who controls her narrative.

PEOPLE sat down with the actress at Saks Fifth Avenue’s 10022-SHOES 10th birthday celebration on Aug. 17 in N.Y.C. to discuss her complicated character.

“She’s a badass woman and a character we’ve been waiting for, one that I hadn’t seen as a little girl growing up,” Ritter, 35, tells PEOPLE of portraying Jones in The Defenders (streaming now) and Jessica Jones (season 2 is filming now).

“I think it’s just such a way to move narratives forward for women, to see this really flawed character,” she says. “Everybody is flawed! And I think that’s why people like her.”

“You live in the headspace of a girl who has a lot of trauma in her life; if you stay in that dark headspace too long, you get the blues,” says the star, who decompresses on set with knitting — and other creative outlets. “I wear hot-orange sneakers, funny sunglasses, just things so I keep it light.”

Beautiful day for an outdoor workout!!! ????

The pop star got her sweat on to one of her own songs, 2007’s “Hot As Ice” from her fifth album, Blackout.

“Daily exercise is important for me both mentally and physically,” she told Women’s Health. “I don’t mind working out. Trainers keep you motivated, but I don’t have a problem being motivated.”

Spears says having her kids, Sean, 11, and Jayden, 10, changed the way she approaches exercise.

“After I had Jayden, it was real easy for me to get back in shape,” she says in the interview. “But five years later, I started noticing changes in my body. My hips are a bit wider because I’ve had kids. So it was crucial for me to be continuous with my exercise. Consistency is key.”

DC are developing a new film about The Joker’s origin story with Martin Scorsese

DC Films are reportedly developing a new film about The Joker‘s origin story, with Martin Scorsese currently in talks to executively produce the project.

The franchise’s iconic villain, who was last played by Jared Leto in the 2016 film Suicide Squad, is set to be the subject of the 1980s-set movie, which is still in the early stages of planning. It is thought that the tone of the film with be ‘a gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film’ in the style of Scorsese’s Taxi Driver which will be set in Gotham City.

With Scorsese set to executively produce, The Hangover and Road Trip director Todd Phillips is being tipped to take the directorial reins. Phillips is said to be currently working on the screenplay with 8 Mile screenwriter Scott Silver (via Deadline).

The film is thought to have been touted as a stand-alone project which is unconnected to the extended DC Universe – which could mean that Leto won’t reprise The Joker in the new film.

Instead, a new, younger actor is expected to take on the role of the famous villain.

Meanwhile, it was reported earlier this month that Ben Affleck has signed up to do a trilogy of new Batman films.

Linkin Park Will Hold a Public Memorial in Los Angeles to Honor Chester Bennington

Fans have been hoping to honor Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington since his sudden death last month, and now they will be able to do so at a public memorial to be held in Los Angeles in the near future, the band announced via Twitter on Tuesday.

“Just wanted to say thank you to all our fans around the world for the tremendous outpouring of love, which has strengthened our spirit during this incredibly difficult time,” reads the statement written by bassist Dave Phoenix Farrell on Linkin Park’s official Twitter page. “The five of us are so grateful for all of your support as we heal and build the future of Linkin Park.”

“We are working on a special public event in Los Angeles to honor Chester’s memory, and look forward to sharing details with you soon,” the statement concludes.

Bennington died of suicide at the age of 41 on July 20 at his home in Palo Verdes Estates in California. Four days after his death, the L.A. County Coroner’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE that Bennington died of suicide by hanging.

The singer was laid to rest on July 30 during a private funeral at South Coast Botanical Garden in Palos Verdes Estates with over 500 of Bennington’s family members and close friends in attendance to pay tribute to the rock legend.

Ted Stryker of KROQ led the service, while Chester’s Stone Temple Pilots bandmates Robert & Dean DeLeo, Kings of Chaos drummer Matt Sorum, Damon Fox and Jimmy Gnecco teamed up for a powerful and touching rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

Fans from around the globe held their own memorials to pay homage to his legacy. One fan even started a Google Doc, gathering all of the worldwide memorials to share with other fans around the world.

Netflix's Next Crime Documentary Takes a 'Deeply Intimate' Look at a 1992 Homicide

While the forthcoming crime documentary Strong Island, debuting on Netflix in September, does attempt to answer long-lingering questions about a 1992 killing on Long Island, New York, the film is not focused on catching a killer.

Rather, the highly-personal directorial debut from Yance Ford chronicles the loss that shattered his family in the 20-plus years since his brother, a black 24-year-old teacher named William Ford Jr., was allegedly gunned down by a white 19-year-old who was never brought to trial.

The film is also a poetic rumination on race in America that simultaneously celebrates — and reclaims — William’s memory.

“A deeply intimate and meditative film, Strong Island asks what one can do when the grief of loss is entwined with historical injustice,” Netflix said in a statement of the film, “and how one grapples with the complicity of silence, which can bind a family in an imitation of life, and a nation with a false sense of justice.”

PEOPLE is exclusively debuting the trailer for Strong Island above.

The film is narrated by Yance Ford, who produced along with Joslyn Barnes and co-producer Signe Byrge Sørensen. Actor Danny Glover, Susan Rockefeller, Tony Tabatznik, Michel Merkt and Laura Poitras executive produced.

Ford spent 10 years working on the documentary, even hiring private investigators to assist him in tracking down the detectives who handled his brother’s homicide as well as the prosecutor who unsuccessfully presented the case to a grand jury for indictment.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Ford says he hopes Strong Island gets people thinking about ways to amend the criminal justice system.

“I look forward to having a lot of really vigorous conversations about the film,” he says, “and I welcome them all.”

Strong Island will premiere on Netflix on Sept. 15.

WATCH: Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Mark Wahlberg Make a Mega Bet and Face Off in Boxing Match

After first making a $250,000 bet on the outcome of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight in May 2015, the two Hollywood heavyweights are facing off in the boxing ring themselves to bet “double or nothing” in a fight dubbed, “Diddy vs. Wahlberg,” for a commercial promoting the highly anticipated Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight airing August 26.

“[Are] you sure you want to do this?” Wahlberg, 46, quips in the clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE, as Combs, 47, responds, “I’ve been waiting for this a long time.”

As the two walk towards the ring, Wahlberg jokes, “We’re not going to dance in there, you know that right?”

Combs says with a smile, “We’re not going to act in there, you know that?” Then, he brings up the fact that Wahlberg owes him money after losing their bet in 2015 when Mayweather famously defeated Pacquiao.

“I gave that to charity,” Wahlberg says. “We can go double or nothing right now.”

While taking their fighting stances, Combs says he’s once again betting on Mayweather’s “Money Team” for the fight this time around as Wahlberg displays his green and white boxing gloves with a shamrock on them — which seems to be a sign of his support for Dublin-native McGregor.

Though we don’t get to see how the fight plays out between Combs and Wahlberg, the longtime friends are all smiles — and even shared a hug — in behind the scenes shots of filming.

To seal the deal of “double or nothing,” the two cheers with bottles of AQUAhydrate water — an electrolyte-enhanced beverage that they’re both investors of — in hand.

Mayweather vs. McGregor airs August 26 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime pay-per-view.

Speaking of the EP, DeLonge said: “It’s been about a year since we put out new music and I wanted to give the fans something while the band works on the soundtrack to the upcoming Strange Times film.

“Being in the studio brought back memories of AVA’s first album and I thought it’d be fun to reimagine those tracks and play around with the arrangements a bit. It’s the first time we’ve ever put out an all-acoustic release and it’s great to be able to do it with these songs, which are all pretty special to me.”

DeLonge is also dedicating the EP to producer Jeff “Critter” Newell, who worked with the band in the run up to their debut record.

“Critter was everything to us. We considered him a member of the band. He had the most artistic and beautiful soul and was such a big part of our lives,” DeLonge said of Critter, who passed away in 2012.

“He always spoke with such poetry. He was my companion during the making of the first years of AVA. He would drink and dance in the studio parking lot to these songs till 4am. When we started recording these new versions, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I miss him. His spirit was definitely with us in the studio.”

Angels and Airwaves are currently working on the soundtrack to DeLonge’s feature film ‘Strange Times’.

Morrissey announces new album ‘Low In High-School’ – and a huge gig

Morrissey has signed a new record deal, and will be releasing his 11th album ‘Low In High-Sch0ol’ later this year.

Fans have been awaiting news of a new release from the former Smiths turned solo star since 2014’s ‘World Peace Is None Of Your Business‘. In the wake of the record’s release, he parted ways with label Harvest – claiming that ‘working with them almost killed him‘.

Now, he’s back – after signing a new record deal with BMG. Due for release on November 17, ‘Low In High-School’ was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in France and in Rome at Ennio Morricone’s Forum Studios. The album was produced by Joe Chiccarelli – famed for working with the likes of Frank Zappa, The Strokes, Beck and The White Stripes.

“There are not many artists around today that can compare to Morrissey,” said Korda Marshall, EVP of BMG. “He is an extraordinary talent. He is prodigious, literate, witty, elegant and above all, courageous. His lyrics, humour and melodies have influenced many generations.

“The music on this new landmark record will speak for itself and we are delighted to welcome him to BMG.”

With more dates set to follow, Morrissey has announced a launch show at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, November 10.

Prior to signing his record deal last year, Morrissey said: “There was a time when the music industry served the artist, but now the artist must serve the music industry, which is why everything is now so tasteless.”

He continued: “There is extremely heavy censorship now. If you examine, for example, the Sex Pistols rise, it largely succeeded because nobody saw it coming, and the industry didn’t think a band like the Sex Pistols could be popular, or could even exist.

“Now, it is severely controlled and monitored to make sure that any singer with a political message cannot get through. The result is obvious. We are left with music charts that do not reflect the feelings and needs of devout music lovers. But there cannot be a revolution.”

New Music Of The Day: Amber Mark – ‘Heatwave’

Summer might be almost over here in Britain, but New York singer-songwriter Amber Mark isn’t ready to say goodbye to the sun just yet. Her latest single, the sweaty samba-scorcher ‘Heatwave’, is perfect for blazing-hot days spent on the beach – bassy enough to dance to but packing enough soulful melodies to soothe any lazy sunbathers as well.

Musically, it sounds like Major Lazer got their hands on an old Herbie Hancock demo, then asked Rihanna to guest-vocal. Basically, it’s the late-summer banger we need to ease us gently into autumn and serves as the perfect follow-up to Amber’s jazzy debut EP ‘3.33am’, which dropped back in May.

Speaking about the new track, Amber said, “’Heatwave’ is different to anything I’ve written before. It just completely has that feel of summer for me. I wrote it just as it was getting hot here in NYC and we’d just came out of the longest Winter… Play it loud.”

Dane Cook, Patton Oswalt and More Lead Celebrity Tributes to Jerry Lewis: 'One of the Greatest of All Time'

Stars like Josh Gad, George Takei, Dane Cook and more have penned moving tributes to the late comedian just moments after news of Lewis’ death broke.

Cook remembered his fellow comedian in a series of tweets, calling Lewis his “mentor and friend.”

“A visionary. A pioneer in all forms of entertainment. A charitable human. A father,” he wrote. Cook added: “He meant the world to me& I will forever cherish the time I got to spend with him & his family. At a dark time in my life he brought me joy.”

Rose Marie, a show business legend herself, shared a sweet photo of herself and Lewis — with the actor making a silly face.

“Jerry Lewis was an angel to me. Loved him & will never forget what he did for me during one of the worst times in my life. RIP, Love Roe,” the 94-year-old tweeted.

Lewis’ agent confirmed the tragic news to PEOPLE, saying that the world “has lost one of the most significant human beings of the 20th century.” The rep added that Lewis died of natural causes while surrounded by his family.

Las Vegas Review Journal columnist John Katsilometes confirmed the news on Twitter on Sunday, writing that Lewis’ rep told him in a statement that he died at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday morning in his home in Las Vegas.

“One of the greatest of all time. A legend. A showman. A comedic icon. A movie star. An activist. A one of a kind. RIP #jerrylewis,” Gad tweeted alongside an old photo of Lewis.

Penn Jillette also reacted to the news on Twitter, being one of the first to reveal that the comedian had died.

“Jerry Lewis just died,” Jillette wrote. “When I met him, I feel apart, just sobbed. I guess it’s time for that again.”

Patton Oswalt was sure to pen his own tribute to the comedian, writing on Twitter, “Jerry Lewis has passed on. I sincerely hope his afterlife is a warm, peaceful … haven.”

The death comes about two months after Lewis was hospitalized in Las Vegas with a urinary tract infection — the latest in a history of health issues.

In June 2006, Lewis suffered a mild heart attack in San Diego. Still, his manager told PEOPLE at the time, “He’s doing very well. He’ll be standing on that stage at the [Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association] telethon on Labor Day.”

In its time, the annual fundraiser, which Lewis started in 1966 (he stopped hosting as of 2010), is said to have raised more than $2 billion for medical research.

Prior to his heart attack, Lewis had long faced health problems, and in June 2012 was rushed to the hospital with low blood sugar only minutes before he was expected to present an award to Tom Cruise at a New York Friars Club event.

Still, Lewis has managed to maintain his popularity, and legend-status during his decades-long career. His manic style amused generations of moviegoers on both sides of the Atlantic, and his popularity often confounded critics.

Ryan Reynolds responds to possibility of ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Avengers’ crossover

Ryan Reynolds has addressed the possibility of a Deadpool/Avengers crossover film, describing it as a “great idea”.

The sequel to the 2016 superhero film is currently filming in Canada. Deadpool 2 is set for release next year and is directed by David Leitch – who previously helmed John Wick

Speaking recently to Total Film, Reynolds was asked about his character Deadpool potentially crossing paths with the fellow Marvel superheroes.

While both are Marvel characters, The Avengers is produced by Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Studios, while Deadpool is made by Fox. However, Fox and Marvel recently teamed up for Spiderman: Homecoming.

“That sounds like a great idea but a very expensive idea,” Reynolds said. “Can you imagine the shit-talking contest with Iron Man? Oh, that would be great. But it would have to be rated R to completely unharness everybody. Unbridle the merriment and watch them go…”

Little is known about the sequel’s plot, but the first teaser for Deadpool 2 was released in March. Entitled ‘No Good Deed’, the clip sees Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool responding to a street robbery in his usual, meta way. It also features a cameo from iconic Marvel founder Stan Lee.

Meanwhile, actress Zazie Beetz has paid tribute to stuntwoman Joi ‘SJ’ Harris after she died in a motorcycle accident on the set of Deadpool 2

The stuntwoman was performing as Beetz’ character Domino when she lost control of her motorbike and crashed through a plate glass window during filming in Vancouver last week.

The Punisher: Frank Castle returns with a vengeance in violent new teaser

The intense 30-second clip, which was tagged onto the end of The Defenders season finale, features Jon Bernthal’s haunted and vengeful anti-hero monologuing about the torments of the past as a flurry of shots preview the violent action (Bullets! Explosions! Torture! More bullets!) that’s heading our way when the show hits Netflix later this year.

“All the things that I’ve done, memories, they never hurt me,” says The Punisher in the trailer. “But the past, it’s more than memories. It’s the devil you sold your soul to. He’s coming. He’s coming to collect.” Ominous, right?

One moment that stands out in the teaser is the shot of Frank being tortured by men in uniform, which confirms what Bernthal told EW at San Diego Comic-Con in July. “I think with Frank and with the world that he’s very much involved in, he’s a soldier, so I think there will be very much a military component of the show,” said Bernthal. “It will be somewhat centered on that… I think that [the] Frank Castle that was in Daredevil is not in Punisher.”

The Punisher — which also stars Daredevil‘s Deborah Ann Woll, Ben Barnes (Westworld), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls) — is expected to premiere this fall on Netflix.

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz wants Rihanna on their new album

Fall Out Boy bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz has revealed that he wants Rihanna to guest star on their new album.

The comments come in a new Billboard interview, in which Wentz reveals that he’s been after a guest spot from the ‘ANTI’ singer for over a decade.

Elsewhere in the interview, Pete Wentz discusses the band’s wider ranging influences on their new material. “The thing I point to now more than anything is we’re listening to a lot more music happening worldwide,” he says. “The thing I love about the globalization of music is I’m listening to beats that this kid in Lagos made… that would have never happened before.”

Wentz continues: “That’s what our band needs… a foot in the future and a foot in the past… To balance the record. What’s interesting with Fall Out Boy is we have guitar, drums and bass, but we’re finding ways to incorporate other ideas. What I liked about The Clash was how they used and twisted those influences.”

Fall Out Boy recently pushed back the release of their new album ‘M A N I A’ by four months. Their seventh studio album was due to be released on September 15, but will now not come out until 2018.

Frontman Patrick Stump broke the news to fans on Facebook, saying that the album “isn’t ready”.

“We are pushing the record release date back to January 19th,” he wrote. “We had some long talks and a lot to weigh about it all and collectively thought that was best.”

WWE Legend Ric Flair Experiencing 'Multiple Organ Problems' & Remains in Critical Condition: Report

Wrestling legend Ric Flair is experiencing “multiple organ problems” and remains listed in critical condition at an Atlanta-based hospital, according to his fiancée, Wendy Barlow.

“I have been unable to talk on the phone without crying and just feel shocked over events,” Barlow said in a statement posted to her Facebook account, according to TMZ.

Flair, 68, who wrestled for four decades during stints in WCW and WWE, has been hospitalized since the night of Aug. 11 after he complained of abdominal pain.

“I want everyone to know he still needs prayers,” Barlow reportedly said. “I have been by his side since Friday and will continue to make sure he is getting the best care possible.”

Details have been sparse, but TMZ reports Flair was placed into a medically induced coma before preparing for an unspecified operation on Aug. 14.

Flair’s daughter, Charlotte Flair, posted a photograph to Instagram on Aug. 15 that addressed her father’s condition.
