Nicki Minaj & Jesse Williams Transform into Magical Fairies for New H&M Holiday Commercial
In the Johan Renckhe-directed ad, the rapper, 34, and the actor, 36, play parents to a little girl who’s told a bedtime story from Williams’ imaginative improvisations. The star’s on-screen daughter is transported in the touching tale and explores a parallel universe in search of the evil brother of Father Christmas, played by actor John Turturro.
And in her quest to bring holiday cheer back to all, the young protagonist finds help from a “thingy” (or fairy) played by Minaj in addition to Williams’ alter ego called “the fastest fairy in the world.” Model Ming Xi also makes a brief cameo.
In the end, with a combination of kindness and compassion, the hero girl completes her mission of spreading love and caring.

“I love the film’s overall empowering message. I love seeing this young girl become the champion that lives in all of us. There’s always magic in the air during the holidays,” Minaj said in a statement about the commercial.
From a $9.99 black mesh turtleneck to a $249 plum tulle dress, the promo features several new items from H&M’s “A Magical Holiday” collection.
In the theme of giving back this season, the H&M Foundation will make a donation to Unicef this year “to give children the best start in life.”
Last year, director Wes Anderson and actor Adrien Brody helped the retailer get shoppers get into the holiday spirit with a four-minute mini-movie.

How The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel compares to Gilmore Girls
They’re both loud and talkative single mothers (at least by the end of Mrs. Maisel’s first episode), both have a penchant for standing up to authority, and both have a taste for breakfast at diners. If they ever met in the same decade, no one else would be able to get a word in edgewise.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is the latest offering from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, and it follows a 1950s housewife who embarks on a stand-up comedy career. While the two shows are different — in tone, and decade — they share enough DNA to delight any Gilmore Girls fan looking to find a new brassy, fast-talking fictional female friend.
SIMILARITY: Did we mention the fast-talking?
Like Rory and Lorelei, Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) speaks at a lightning-fast pace. Her jokes are rocket-launched, and her talent for delivery is a skill her husband Joel, whose stand-up routines are decidedly less well-timed, lacks.
DIFFERENCE: The soundtrack
A far cry from Carole King’s “la la la’s,” each episode of Mrs. Maisel is dense with period-appropriate songs, from artists like Cyril Ritchard, Peggy Lee, and Connie Francis. Keep an ear out for Barbra Streisand’s “Come to the Supermarket” which punctuates a lively cab ride the Maisels take to downtown.
SIMILARITY: Rich parents
Midge’s parents live in a massive Upper West Side apartment, dress her in designer clothes, and send her to Bryn Mawr. Emily Gilmore would be right at home among the formal wear, dinner parties, and maid serving the meals.
DIFFERENCE: Judaism
Midge is Jewish, and, from the way she stresses about the rabbi attending her Yom Kippur break-fast to the way she cooks brisket to get her husband a better timeslot for his stand-up, it shows. The Gilmores — at least Emily and Richard — were as WASP-y as it came, and Emily had the DAR membership to prove it.
SIMILARITY: Private school uniforms
It’s not Chilton pleated skirts, but we do get a glimpse of Midge in a uniform during flashbacks to her time at Bryn Mawr.
DIFFERENCE: Cooking
Midge cooks that brisket, and dinner almost every night for her husband and family. The most a Gilmore girl ever did in the kitchen was to throw Pop Tarts in the toaster.
SIMILARITY: Cultural references
Gilmore Girls was famous for its mile-a-minute pop culture references. Mrs. Maisel takes place in 1958, so the celebrities are of a slightly different generation, but we get shout-outs to Katherine Hepburn, Bob Newhart, Sammy Davis Jr., Kirk Douglas, and Julius and Ethel Rosenberg — all within the first couple episodes. And Lenny Bruce himself is one of the show’s major characters.
DIFFERENCE: The setting
Midge lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and hangs out down in the village. New York City is about as far from Stars Hollow as you can get. There are subways and 24-hour diners, but no picturesque gazebos.
SIMILARITY: Alex Borstein
Bornstein had brief appearances in Gilmore Girls, as Miss Celine and as Drella the harpist (she was originally slated to play Sookie, before the role went to Melissa McCarthy). In Mrs. Maisel, she finally gets her central role as Susie Myerson, who works at a coffee shop performance space and begins managing Midge’s career.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel debuts on Amazon on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It Netflix series is 'crackling'
Catch the full episode of Bingeworthy here and on PeopleTV. Go to PEOPLE.com/PeopleTV, or download the free app on your smart TV, mobile, and web devices.
One of the season’s most anticipated new television releases has been the Netflix reboot of Spike Lee’s breakthrough 1986 film She’s Gotta Have It. Starring newcomer DeWanda Wise as Nola Darling, the updated series is garnering strong reviews, including from the hosts of Bingeworthy.
“This show is crackling,” cohost Jessica Shaw says. “The music choices, the way Spike Lee chose to shoot the characters — it is very Spike Lee, if you’re a fan of his films, but it feels different too! I think that it’s very 2017.”
Cohost Touré agrees that the new She’s Gotta Have It feels like a particularly timely adaptation.
“It comes at an amazing moment historically for this piece, in that we’re talking so much about this feminist reckoning,” he says. “And within this, it’s so much about sex positivity, about dealing with the male gaze, about literally pushing off an attacker and then the impact that that has on [Nola].” Touré adds, “I loved it.”

Beyoncé and Elton John are reportedly working on new versions of ‘The Lion King’ songs
Beyoncé is reportedly working with Elton John on new versions of classic Lion King songs for the forthcoming remake of the Disney film.
The cast for the remake was formally announced earlier this month, with Beyoncé starring opposite Donald Glover in the roles of Nala and Simba respectively.
With production on the film now underway, a new report has claimed that Beyoncé is currently working with John to refine new versions of classic Lion King songs for the upcoming remake.
The New York Daily News has reported that the ‘Lemonade’ artist is collaborating with John in the studio on such tracks as ‘Circle of Life’ and ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’. John and Hans Zimmer contributed extensively to the soundtrack of the original 1994 film, with the former reportedly signing a deal with Disney which permits him to reimagine his original songs for the new version of The Lion King.
“The songs will be thread into the storyline,” a source told the Daily News. “It is unthinkable when you have Beyoncé involved not to have her sing some of those iconic hits — and that means huge sales to a new generation. The deal is a huge one and will earn [Elton John] millions at many stages. Obviously, will get a one off licensing deal followed by a cut in royalties from all aspects of the work.”
The A-list cast for the remake also includes original Lion King voice actor James Earl Jones (who will reprise his role as Mufasa), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar) and John Oliver (Zazu).
Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner will play Pumbaa and Timon respectively, while Alfre Woodard (Sarabi), Eric Andre (Azizi) and Florence Kasumba (Shenzi) will also star. The film is scheduled for a July 2019 release, with the new project being made along the same creative lines as the recent remake of The Jungle Book.

Frank Ocean hints at new album in cryptic Tumblr post?
Frank Ocean has suggested that he’s finished work on a new album that he hasn’t released yet, writing cryptically in a post on Tumblr.
Ocean released two albums (‘Endless’ and ‘Blonde’) in August 2016 and has been dropping one-off singles sporadically since. He released a physical version of his visual album ‘Endless’ this week for Cyber Monday.
Then, last night (November 27), Ocean took to Tumblr to write: “Well I️ made the album before 30. I JUST AINT PUT THAT BITCH OUT!”, adding that the comments were “quotes from an interview I haven’t given”.
This has led to speculation that Ocean could be sitting on a new album. He also could be referring to a tweet he posted in 2012 when he declared that he wanted to release “5 albums before 30”.
No further details are known about the possible new record and Ocean could simply be making a dig at Donald Trump’s daughter Tiffany, who recently shared a fake quote attributed to Ocean.
Frank Ocean
“Well I️ made the album before 30. I️ JUST AINT PUT THAT BITCH OUT!” -quotes from an interview I️ haven’t given haha
Meanwhile, the singer recently shared a photo diary and essay for the latest issue of i-D magazine. The diary includes a 32-page photo essay that includes self-portraits, pictures from his recent tour and a shot of filmmaker Spike Jonze.
In the essay, Ocean wrote: “If you liked two thousand and seventeen then you’ll love two thousand and eighteen.” This could mean that his new album will be released next year.
Elsewhere, Ocean won the libel case brought forward against him by his father.

‘Avengers 4’ will be a ‘finale’ for the Marvel Cinematic Universe
The upcoming Avengers 4 movie will be a ‘finale’ for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a Marvel boss has said.
The fourth part of the series is currently scheduled for a 2019 release, following next year’s Avengers: Infinity War installment
Speaking in a new Vanity Fair interview, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that its follow-up will be a major moment in the canonical universe, and will “bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale.”
A number of actors who play the universe’s key characters will see their current contracts come to an end after Avengers 4, including Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye – Feige’s comments seem to suggest that we could see some dramatic ends to the characters’ storylines.
“There will be two distinct periods,” Feige added. “Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting.”
Avengers: Infinity War is set to be the longest Marvel film yet, and bosses have warned fans to be prepared for some huge surprises and major deaths.
Co-director Joe Russo said at San Diego Comic-Con, that major changes are afoot in the Marvel universe. “My brother [Anthony Russo] and I believe in stakes,” he said. “I believe that everything has to have an end at some point in order for it to have value. The audience should be prepared.”
Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas on May 4, 2018, with Avengers 4 set to follow on May 3, 2019.

‘The Walking Dead’ star says that poor viewing figures are due to “gore”
‘The Walking Dead’ hasn’t been breaking any viewing records recently and Pollyanna McIntosh, who plays Jadis in the show, has tried to explain the audience drop-off.
During an interview with ComicBook.com, McIntosh shared her perspective on the rating slide, saying: “We listen to what they [the fans] have to say, and we’re in touch with them in lots of ways.”
“I think season seven knocked a lot of people sideways with the gore, you know? And we took that into account, but it also set up… the truth of it, this is a show from a comic book, you know?”
McIntosh continues: “people will be dying in hideous ways. I mean, that’s part of the personality of the comic book. And as long as we keep the great character development and the great threads of morality and the human condition within there, I think we have some room to have a bit of fun with that blood and gore.”
Last week’s episode of the AMC zombie show slumped to the show’s lowest audience rating in the US for an episode since its second season, dropping to below eight million viewers for the first time in over five years.
Read more: AMC boss says ‘The Walking Dead’ could go on as a franchise for decades
The last time an episode of The Walking Dead registered an episode rate below 8 million viewers was back in season two, when the March 2012 episode ‘Better Angels’ attracted just 6.89 million viewers.

Now the friendship’s been extended even further – with Sheeran becoming the godfather of Blunt’s baby boy.
“James is like a brother to me,” Sheeran said, before dropping the news.
Speculating on Blunt’s motivation, he added: “To be honest, I think he’s only done it because he knows I’ve got a good idea of what sort of person he’d want him to be when he grows up — an absolute lad.
“We’re going to be brothers for life,” Sheeran gushed.
The responsibility is shared with the late Carrie Fisher, who Blunt asked to be godmother in June 2016, prior to her death.
Blunt lived with Fisher when he first moved to Los Angeles, developing a close friendship.
Sheeran also serves as godfather to Big Narstie’s child.
In September, Blunt discussed his and Ed’s un-rockstar tour antics.
“It’s extremely calm. We drink tea. We watch television series – I can’t think of which one, but we take it very easy,” he said.
Earlier this month, Ed Sheeran responded to speculation that Taylor Swift’s track ‘Dress’ is about him.
Appearing on Swift’s new album, ‘Reputation’, ‘Dress’ features the lyrics “There is an indentation in the shape of you / Made your mark on me, a golden tattoo”.
However, Sheeran told a livestream that he believes the song to be about someone with a buzzcut – a far cry from his signature red hair.

Listen to Josh Homme’s score for new neo-Nazi revenge film ‘In the Fade’
Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has shared his soundtrack for the new film In The Fade – listen to Homme’s score for the movie below.
Homme became attached to the film after its director, Fatih Akin, sent him an early version of In The Fade for his consideration. “He immediately called back saying he loved it and was blown away and that he would like to put his hands on it,” Akin revealed back in May. “We phoned maybe four or five times, sent 10 emails back and forth and then I had the music. It was a very uncomplicated, fast and very clean process of working.”
After premiering at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, In The Fade – which has been described as a ‘neo-Nazi revenge film’ as it tells the story of a woman who seeks revenge on a neo-Nazi group after they murder her husband and son – will be released next month (with the date December 27 confirmed for US cinemas).
Ahead of its wide release, Homme’s score for In The Fade has now been released on major streaming platforms, with a physical release due in December. Homme was joined by fellow QOTSA members Michael Shuman and Troy Van Leeuwen for the recording of the soundtrack.

Dan Harmon gives update on possible ‘Community’ movie
Dan Harmon has given fans an update on the likelihood of a Community film.
The cult sitcom ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2015, and starred the likes of Donald Glover, Chevy Chase and Alison Brie.
With one of the show’s most quoted lines – “six seasons and a movie” – still a beloved catchphrase of the Community fanbase, the show’s creator Harmon has now given fans an update on whether that prophecy will ever be fulfilled.
Harmon, who also co-created Rick & Morty, revealed that the door hasn’t been closed on a revival of Community just yet.
“I keep having conversations with the kinds of people that could make it happen,” Harmon told The Wrap. “The Russo brothers moved from Community to becoming industry shapers. So did one of our most popular directors, Justin Lin, who directed the first paintball episode.
“I hope I’m not talking out of school by saying that,” he added. “I’ll get together with him every once in a while, or we’ll have dinner, and we’re talking — we keep trying to figure out how to do this.
“Those are the kinds of guys, the Russos, plus Justin, plus a humble little me — maybe there is a way to secure the money and the momentum to make something happen. But fingers crossed — don’t want to jinx it.”
Community star Alison Brie
Speaking about a possible Community film earlier this year, Alison Brie told NME that she was “up for it”.
“I’m never one to really give up hope and I think that it could happen eventually, maybe in an Arrested Development-type way,” she said.

Kim Kardashian Sold Out All 300,000 KKW Fragrances
It’s only been one week since Kim Kardashian’s new KKW Fragrances launched, but the beauty mogul’s Crystal Gardenia, Crystal Gardenia Citrus and Crystal Gardenia Oud perfumes are already sold out online.
Even without actually smelling her scents, Kardashian’s fans trusted the star and purchased every unit of the 300,000 produced for the initial launch. At $35 for the 30 ml. bottle and $60 for the 75 ml., assuming she produced equal amounts of each, that would total up to about $14 million in sales in under a week. Although the products aren’t available on KKWFragrance.com anymore, if you live in the L.A. area, you still may be able to snag one at Violet Grey where a few are still in stock.
“I just wanted to thank you all so much to everyone who purchased my fragrance. It was such a successful launch. I am just so excited about it. I know you guys are gonna love it and I know it was so crazy. It was the first time someone really just sold it online and without testers and you know, without really smelling it before,” Kardashian said on Instagram.
“It’s such an honor that you guys trusted me. I know you will love the scent and I can’t wait for you guys to get it. I can’t wait for you guys to tweet me and talk about how much you guys love the scent when you guys receive it,” she continued.
Looking for more style content? Click here to subscribe to the PeopleStyle Newsletter for amazing shopping discounts, can’t-live-without beauty products and more
But if you weren’t able to get your hands on one of the KKW Fragrances, you still have your chance. Although Kardashian initially was planning on making these a limited one-time-only release, the star’s bringing the fragrance back for a restock very soon.
A post shared by KKW FRAGRANCE (@kkwfragrance) on Nov 20, 2017 at 9:50am PST
Kardashian decided to store her fragrances in translucent crystal-inspired bottles after her close friends starting bringing her healing crystals following her Paris robbery last year.
“It all started when everyone would come over and bring me healing crystals at a time in my life where I needed some healing,” Kardashian told PeopleStyle. “I really loved the idea of being so pure and taking that time to do what makes you happy and heal from everything you have going on in this crazy, chaotic life. I just wanted to create fragrances that made me feel happy and calm.”

WATCH: Drew Scott Goes Wedding Tux Shopping with Brothers Jonathan and J.D.
On tonight’s premiere of Property Brothers at Home: Drew’s Honeymoon House, Drew’s identical twin and costar, Jonathan, and their older brother, J.D., join the HGTV realtor as he tries on tuxedos for his wedding to fiancée Linda Phan in May.
Upon arrival to The Black Tux in Santa Monica, California, Jonathan and J.D. don two very different, but equally over-the-top, first looks. Jonathan’s references the family’s Scottish heritage with a two-toned plaid number, while J.D. opts to omit a shirt under his blush pink blazer.
Both eventually take their selections a bit more seriously, with Jonathan changing into a kilt made from “the actual Scott tartan,” and J.D. finding a white button up.
“All jokes aside, for the first time, this is actually hitting me,” Drew says in the clip. “This is actually happening. I’m getting married!”
With their upcoming destination affair in Italy just a few months away, Drew and Linda have been getting wedding planning in where they can, a tricky feat as they film for the HGTV series and Drew competes on Dancing with the Stars. But in this week’s issue of PEOPLE, the two reveal that they’ve found time to taste cakes at Magnolia Bakery and nail down the big day’s menu.
“We’re looking at somewhere where we can chow down on pizza, pasta and gelato. Those are the requirements,” says Phan, who has also done a little dress shopping of her own at Claire Pettibone Dress Shop in L.A.
The late-night spread sounds just as tasty, and is slated to include burgers, fries and (as a tribute to Drew’s Scottish roots) Yorkshire pudding.
“This is our big day—we can do whatever we want!” Drew says. “One of the things that I love about Linda is that she’s with me in that sense. If I want to wear a gold leotard, I’ll do it. We’re not ones to have a basic white wedding.”

Rashida Jones clarifies reasons for leaving ‘Toy Story 4’
Rashida Jones has clarified her reasons for leaving Toy Story 4 after reports emerged linking her departure from the film to Disney/Pixar head John Lasseter’s leave of absence from the company due to “missteps”.
Jones and her writing partner Will McCormack had been hired to write the screenplay for the forthcoming film, with Lasseter originally set to co-direct Toy Story 4 along with Josh Cooley. Cooley is now the sole director of the film.
With Jones and McCormack recently halting their involvement with Toy Story 4, the pair have this week become the subject of a Hollywood Reporter report which claimed that their departure from the film was linked to Lasseter making “an unwanted advance” toward Jones.
John Lasseter
Jones has denied the allegations made by the report in a new statement, which has been obtained by Entertainment Weekly, clarifying that she and McCormack parted ways with Pixar due to “creative and, more importantly, philosophical differences”.
“The breakneck speed at which journalists have been naming the next perpetrator renders some reporting irresponsible,” Jones and McCormack’s statement reads. “We did not leave Pixar because of unwanted advances. That is untrue. We parted ways because of creative and, more importantly, philosophical differences. There is so much talent at Pixar, and we remain enormous fans of their films. However, it is also a culture where women and people of color do not have an equal creative voice.”
Observing that only one of Pixar’s 20 films had been co-directed by a woman – while only one film had been directed by a person of color – Jones and McCormack then called on Pixar “to be leaders in bolstering, hiring, and promoting more diverse and female storytellers and leaders. We hope we can encourage all those who have felt like their voices could not be heard in the past to feel empowered.”

Nelly Is Performing His First Concert in Saudi Arabia to an All-Male Crowd
But there will likely be no tilting back of heads, shaking of tail feathers or riding with the American rapper in the conservative kingdom known to bar artists from singing about sex, drugs and alcohol.
Saudi Arabia has nonetheless booked the performer most famous for getting so hot he needs to take all his clothes off, the Washington Post reports. He’s playing second-billing next to Algerian singer Cheb Khaled, a more family-friendly performer celebrated for his renditions of Bedouin folk music called raï.
The Dec. 14 concert is part of the Saudi kingdom’s $2.7 billion effort to revamp its moribund entertainment and leisure industries, a small but key element of 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s ambitious reform and modernization agenda.
Tickets to Nelly’s Jeddah event, however, are only available to men and can run up to $120.
Nelly will be the second major American entertainer to perform in the Saudi kingdom this year after country star Toby Keith flew out in May. Performing in one of the first public concerts held in Saudi Arabia since the early 1990s, Keith appeared alongside a flutist on the same weekend that President Donald Trump was in town. Keith told the Atlantic he received strict orders not to perform any of his racy hits, or any songs about drinking, and definitely none about weed.
“There were only four or five things that I could play that were famous,” he said.
It is unclear if Nelly has been given the same instructions, and if so, what he could marshal out of his discography that would be fit for the kingdom.

Zendaya's Black Friday Shopping Strategy: ‘Don't Go’
“I don’t go,” the 21-year-old told PeopleStyle last night at the Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship window unveiling in New York City. “I’m always afraid because it’s the busiest time to go. The best thing for me is wait until the online one comes out, and do everything online.”
And if you’re hiding from stores like Zendaya is, she at least provided something for you to peruse online while you shop: A brand new capsule for Bloomingdale’s house line, AQUA, which is inspired by her forthcoming film The Greatest Showman, which hits theaters Dec. 20. (The film also inspired the new holiday windows, which Zendaya helped celebrate last night, including one called “Rewrite the Stars,” an ode to a song Zendaya sings with Zac Efron in the movie.)
A post shared by Zendaya (@zendaya) on Nov 17, 2017 at 1:08pm PST
As for the collection, the actress and activist says “we took the elements and the ideas of the movie and made them make sense for someone who is going to a cocktail party. And there’s a lot of glitter and a lot of shine going on, so if you literally pair anything with a simple, pointy toe black pump, then you’re good to go.”
Some of the lineup, all of which under $200, has already sold out. As of today, there are five pieces left, including two dresses, two skirts with high-low hems and one very dazzling top, all available on bloomingdales.com.
So, what is actually on Zendaya’s holiday wish list? Simply a happy home. “Right now, I’m working on furniture for my house,” the star said.
“Anybody who has actually dealt with getting furniture in their house can understand when you order stuff, you have to wait forever and you just want to see how things look,” she added. “So, it’s been a long road, but I guess that would be my thing — furnish my house.”
Tell us: Would you scoop up pieces from Zendaya’s Bloomingdale’s line?

Cardi B Wants Free Louboutins Now That She Caused 217% Increase in Brand's Search Traffic
First, it shattered Billboard Hot 100 chart records, did wonders for her dentist’s business and, since it hit airwaves this summer, it’s spurred a 217 percent spike in searches for Christian Louboutin shoes, according to Business of Fashion.
Thanks to the line, “These expensive, these is red bottoms, these is bloody shoes,” search traffic for the celeb-loved red soled-stilettos has more than doubled in traffic, which is all the more impressive since Cardi B hasn’t yet launched a collaboration of her own (though according to her Instagram, her rumored collection with Steve Madden is imminent).
A post shared by Cardi B Official IG (@iamcardib) on Nov 20, 2017 at 9:59pm PST
She may be able to “get ’em both” these days, but once she read the news that she’s bolstered the brand’s traffic and has an estimated $4.5 million media value, she captioned a photo of the stats on Instagram writing, “want a free boot @louboutinworld 😩😩😩😩”
In an interview with the New York Times in October, the designer himself admitted that he wasn’t very familiar with Cardi B.
“She has the hair like that? She’s a rapper? This ‘Yellow’ song?” Louboutin said while mimicking Cardi B’s bob hairstyle with his hands when asked about the hitmaker. “I don’t know much more than that, to be honest.”
Though he said he’s “not a big rap person” he’s open to meeting Cardi B if she ever came to Paris. “Why not?” he said.
3 Things to Know About Cardi B, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ Rapper Who Bumped Taylor Swift From No. 1
Cardi B got her first-ever pair of “bloody shoes” when she was 19 from an admirer at the strip club she worked at. And today, her closet is brimming with red bottoms (her stylist, Kollin Carter, said she has over 90 pairs and buys them “every couple of weeks”) but with all the business she’s bringing the company, hopefully, she’ll get that pair of boots sent her way.

Josh Homme on how AC/DC’s Malcolm Young inspired the start of Queens Of The Stone Age
Josh Homme has spoken out about how late AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young inspired him when he was first starting Queens Of The Stone Age.
AC/DC confirmed the death of their founder and former guitarist at the weekend, when Young died at the age of 64 after a battle with dementia. The likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Brody Dalle, Van Halen, Biffy Clyro, Ryan Adams and many more spoke out in tribute of the rock icon.
Now in an interview with Mojo, Homme has discussed how he tried to emulate Young’s ‘robotic’ style of rhythm guitar when he left Kyuss for The Screaming Trees, before discovering kraut-rock and landing on the idiosyncratic sound of Queens Of The Stone Age.
“I wanted to see what it was like when you just played one thing until you got lost in a trance,” said Homme. “One note is so much more difficult than 50. That’s what I learned in [The Screaming Trees], because I was playing rhythm, I was trying to play like Malcolm Young, trying to play a riff like a robot.
“So I had the first Queens record written, this robotic trance stuff, and then my friend Hutch, our sound man who has turned me on to so much music, was like cough… and plays me Can, Neu!, Wire… I was like, “What?” really disheartened.”
Malcolm Young, 1995
Earlier this week, AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson also paid an emotional tribute to Young – honoring him for his ‘legacy that no one can match’.
Meanwhile, QOTSA are currently in the midst of a UK tour in support of their acclaimed 2017 album ‘Villains‘. After kicking off with a blistering opening show at Wembley at the weekend, the band then hit a spot of bother when Manchester Arena took issue with Homme smoking while on stage.
