Watch Pharrell and Miley Cyrus perform ‘Happy’ at the Manchester One Love concert

 

Pharrell Williams was joined by Miley Cyrus tonight at the Manchester One Love concert to perform the NERD singer’s hit single, ‘Happy’.

Williams started his brief set with Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’. Before the collaboration with Miley, the singer began by sharing some words: “Despite all the things that have been going on in this place, I don’t feel, or hear, or smell, or see any fear in this building. All we feel here tonight is love, resilience, positivity”.

Miley followed the set with one of her own tracks, ‘Inspired’ a track from her upcoming yet-to-be-titled album this year and later appeared with Ariana Grande to perform Crowded House’s ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’.

The concert will see performances from Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Mac Miller, Take That, Niall Horan, and others with all the proceeds going to the We Love Manchester emergency fund, which has been set up by Manchester City Council, in conjunction with the British Red Cross.

Earlier, a leaked setlist appeared online that revealed that Coldplay would appear to play three tracks including ‘Fix You’ and ‘Viva La Vida’.

The benefit concert is broadcasting live on BBC One and BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio Manchester as well as being streamed across social media.

New Kanye West tracks featuring Migos and A$AP Rocky leak online

 

Two new tracks from Kanye West mysteriously leaked last night (June 4) and they feature some heavy hitters from the world of hip-hop.

Appearing on Reddit last night, news of the leaks revealed the two new tracks had been released by Music Mafia, the website that recently hacked Drake’s Twitter and found some unreleased music from Yeezy.

One of the tracks is called ‘Euro (Switch Hands)’ and features A$AP Rocky. Though streams keep being uploaded and taken down, reports reveal that Kanye is taking a more electronic, ‘808s’ approach on this track.

The second song is called ‘Hold Tight’ and features Migos and Young Thug. Listen to the track below.

It’s unknown whether these tracks are new or offcuts from ‘The Life Of Pablo’. Some fans are speculating that these tracks might belong on Kanye’s long-awaited ‘Turbo Grafx 16’ album that the rapper announced around the time of the release of ‘Pablo’ last year.

The last we heard of Kanye was that he is reportedly writing his next album at a remote mountaintop retreat in Wyoming. According to TMZ, the rapper has spent the past week in the remote location, having already completed two week-long stints at the retreat in recent months.

 

While promoting the new series of his show ‘Master Of None’, Aziz Ansari opened up about his friendship with the infamous rapper, saying: “He’s such an interesting person and there’s just this view of him that some people have of him that’s just… I don’t know,” Ansari added: “He is that but he’s also this nice guy that I’ve met. He can be a very sweet guy.”

Dunkirk: Harry Styles and cast discuss “gruelling” movie shoot

Forget David Beckham failing to get the sword out of the stone in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur turkey, the movie cameo of the year goes to one Harry Styles, making his cinematic debut as Alex, one of a 1,300 strong unit of soldiers stranded on the Dunkirk beaches in Christopher Nolan’s hugely anticipated summer blockbuster about the legendary WWII retreat. This week he spoke to Little White Lies about the experience, which involved “gruelling” hours of filming in water which anyone who’s ever tried to rescue a brick from the bottom of a swimming pool in their pyjamas will relate to.

 

 

Harry Styles: all at sea

 

You picture our Harry turning up on the Dunkirk set on his first day in films decked out in his shiniest soldier outfit that his mum has ironed specially, only to be unceremoniously dumped in a water tank and told to doggy paddle for his life. “A week before we started filming,” ho told Little White Lies, “Emma [Thomas, producer] called me and said, ‘By the way, I forgot to ask… you can swim, right?’ It was a relief to know I could because there was so much swimming involved. However much you train for it, filming in the water for an hour in full clothes is a grueling experience.”

 

Harry Styles: Dunkirk’s three plot angles

 

Nolan’s movie tackles the events of Dunkirk via three separate strands, following the action of the air force, the land armies and the flotilla of boats gathered to save the soldiers on the beaches. Early reports suggest there’s surprisingly little dialogue in the film, and Harry also hints that the film is driven by emotional portrayals of survival. “From a character point of view, the story is stripped back to basic instinct,” he said. “It’s all about that survival instinct, and how different people reacted to the situation in different ways. So you have clashes and tension between different characters and that intertwines with the land, air and sea theme.”

 

 

Styles on Nolan

 

According to Harry, Nolan was a total workaholic on set. “The biggest thing I learned from making this movie is that Chris Nolan doesn’t sit down,” he said. “He leads by example, so any time there’s a break given it’s because he knows everyone else needs one. It makes it really hard to complain because you know he’s been there longer than you, you know he’s the first one there and you know he’s going to be the last one to leave. For him it’s all about making the project the best that it can be, and that’s infectious.”

 

Other cast members praised Nolan’s immersion into the project too, encouraging lead actor Fionn Whitehead, who plays an army private called Tommy, to watch war film The Thin Red Line and other cast members to read Joshua Levine’s book The Forgotten Voices Of Dunkirk. “That was brilliant,” said actor Tom Glyn-Carney, “because you really get a sense of all these different perspectives, of what these men were hearing and seeing and smelling.”

Curb Your Enthusiasm: The Best Scenes

We’ve got a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm on it’s way. We thought we’d pick through our best clips from the previous eight seasons to remind us all why it’s such a great show. There are so many great moments to pick from but here are our top six in no particular order.

Beloved Aunt

Larry is forced to write the eulogy for recently deceased aunt. Only there is a typo in the newspaper. This video features some pretty strong language so maybe don’t watch it at work.

The Doll

Larry finds himself a little short, uses a ladies loo and then has no where to put his bottle of water. The set-up for this scene is completely logical and the ground-work was put down over a few episodes. When it happens the payoff is incredible.

Tooth Fairy

Larry causes his friend’s daughter to realise that the tooth fairy isn’t real because his shoes are too squeaky. A classic example of unintended consequences and Larry making things worse.

The Seder Guest

It’s hard making new friends when you are a grown-up, but Larry has done it and he’s really happy. So happy he’s invited him over for Seder. There is just one problem...

Mile High Hero

An argument over using the loos on a plane, and a terrible attempt at chatting up a fellow passenger and some badly tied shoe-laces end up accidentally making Larry a hero. It’s rare that anything goes right for Larry in the show which makes things like this even more precious.

The Blind Guy Dating A Model

The pianist working on a project with Larry and Ben Stiller is dating a model. Or at least he thinks he is, Larry can’t help himself and set the record straight. It goes as well as you would expect.

A full length trailer for the forthcoming second season of Preacher has been posted online.

The second series of the AMC show – which airs on Amazon Prime in the UK – will arrive on June 25, with its opening episode directed by Superbad duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who also developed Preacher along with Sam Catlin).

The trailer sees Jesse (played by Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) on a road trip, being trailed by The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish), interspersed with action-packed clips from the forthcoming new season.

The drama is based on Garth Ennis and Stephen Dillon’s hugely popular graphic novels which tells the story of Jesse Custer, a preacher in the small Texas town of Annville.

Custer is accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature Genesis, the infant product of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon.

The first season was aired last summer. “Preacher is one of the most ambitious and highly anticipated new series of the year and exactly the kind of show we want to bring our Prime members around the world,” said Amazon worldwide television acquisition vice-president Brad Beale at the time.

 

Rogen and Goldberg work regularly together and have produced a number of Rogen’s films, including Knocked Up, Superbad and Bad Neighbours. Catlin, the showrunner on Preacher was a writer on Breaking Bad.

‘Sharknado 5’ announces punning title and ridiculous celebrity cameos

 

The latest Sharknado film has unveiled its punning and very topical title: Sharknado 5: Global Swarming.

The super-tongue-in-cheek sequel, which premieres on US network SyFy on August 5, is being marketed with the Trump-referencing caption “Make America Bait Again!”

The TV movie’s synopsis teases: “In Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, the mission gets personal for Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) and his bionic wife, April (Tara Reid) when their young son gets trapped in a traveling ‘nado and transported all over the world.

“From London to Rio, Tokyo, Rome, Amsterdam and beyond, our globetrotting heroes will seek assistance from a highly-skilled squad of royals, scholars and Olympians, enlisting famous faces from news, entertainment, and sports in their most epic battle yet.”

In typical Sharknado fashion, a large and rather bizarre list of celebrity cameos has also been announced. The confirmed names so far are: Tony Hawk, Olivia Newton-John, Chloe Lattanzi, Fabio, Clay Aiken, Bret Michaels, Charo, Gilbert Gottfried, Margaret Cho, Al Roker, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, Greg Louganis, Tom Daley, Gus Kenworthy, Jeff Rossen, Porsha Williams, Tiffany “New York” Pollard, Chris Kattan, Cat Greenleaf, Ross Mullan and Dan Fogler.

Sharknado 5: Global Swarming follows four previous movies which have premiered on SyFy over the last four summers: 2013’s Sharknado, 2014’s Sharknado: The Second One, 2015’s Sharknado: Oh Hell No! and last year’s Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.

Fergie has left the Black Eyed Peas, says will.i.am

 

Fergie is no longer a member of Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am has confirmed.

The singer – real name Stacy Ferguson – joined the group in 2002 for their ‘Elephunk’ album and sang on most of their biggest hits, including ‘Boom Boom Pow’, ‘I Gotta Feeling’ and ‘My Humps’.

However, she has not performed live with the group since their Coachella sets in 2015. Confirming that she is no longer part of the Peas, will.i.am told Ahlan!: “Since the beginning of Black Eyed Peas, we’ve always had amazing vocalists that appeared on the mic with us. People like Macy Gray, Esthero, Debi Nova, Fergie.

“On ‘Elephunk’, there were several females that appeared on that album,” he continued. “Obviously Fergie was the featured female, but on songs like ‘Lets Get It Started’, it’s Noelle (Scaggs), and then Fergie, songs like ‘Latin Girls’, it’s Debi Nova, and ‘Request Line’, it’s Macy Gray. We’ll always work with good females.

Fergie is currently working on her second solo album, which is titled ‘Double Dutchess’ and set to include the singles ‘M.I.L.F.$’ and ‘Life Goes On’.

“As for replacing, what people know The Black Eyed Peas to be, nobody is replacing Fergie,” will.i.am added. “She’s working on her solo project at the moment, we’re on this brand new experience, celebrating 20 years of Black Eyed Peas putting out music. We worked on a bunch of songs on her solo record, we’re proud that she has her label, but Black Eyed Peas are pushing it forward in terms of content, technology, and experiences on our new project, Masters of the Sun.”

 

The new, Fergie-free Black Eyed Peas will be performing on Sunday (June 4) at Ariana Grande’s Manchester benefit concert for the victims of last week’s terrorist attack. Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Take That and Coldplay are all performing on the day too.
