Ariana Grande suspends tour following Manchester concert terror attack

Ariana Grande has reportedly suspended her current tour after last night’s Manchester terror attack.

Last night (May 22) saw an explosion at Grande’s Manchester Arena concert leave 22 people dead and 59 wounded. Fans were leaving the show when a bomb was detonated by a suicide bomber in a public foyer. The lone attacker died in the explosion from what is said to be a home-made bomb. The bomber has since been named and ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Grande was unharmed in the attack and has since released a statement, describing herself as ‘broken’. She added: “From the bottom of my heart, I am so, so sorry. I don’t have the words.” Her support acts have also issued statements. Meanwhile, her mother reportedly helped several fans to safety during the aftermath of the attack.

CNN now reports that Grande has suspended her ‘Dangerous Woman’ tour and Us Weekly reports that the singer has returned to her home in Florida. Grande had been scheduled to play two London dates this week, followed by shows in Belgium, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy during the rest of May and June. It’s not known whether these dates will be rearranged or if the tour will resume at some point.

Anyone with any information concerning the attack is asked to call the Anti-Terrorist Hotline in confidence on 0800 789321.

Papa Roach tease plans to mark 20th anniversary of classic album ‘Infest’

Papa Roach have teased plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their “iconic” second album ‘Infest’.

2000’s ‘Infest’ is the band’s best-selling album to date, having sold over seven million copies worldwide. It’s considered as one of the classic albums of the nu-metal genre, spawning singles like ‘Last Resort’ and ‘Between Angels and Insects’.

Speaking to NME recently, frontman Jacoby Shaddix indicated that his band is intent on marking the milestone in a few years time.

“For the 20th anniversary, yes, we actually have a few ideas that are going to be fucking awesome,” the singer said. “We’re about to start putting them to play here in the next year and a half.”

“I can’t let the cat out of the bag but it’s going to be bitching and we definitely want to celebrate that because it’s an iconic album,” Shaddix added. “I’m very grateful to have an album like that in our arsenal and the beauty of it is that we’re kind of having a full circle moment right now because there’s a lot of young bands coming out citing us as an early influence on them, and now we’re sharing the stage with those bands.”

“We’re befriending those guys, guys in bands like Of Mice And Men and Bring Me The Horizon. I was talking to Lee [Malia, BMTH guitarist] and he was like ‘You guys were one of the first shows I’ve ever been to, you were the first band that I ever crowdsurfed to.’ And shit like that I’m just like ‘That’s awesome!’. To know that our music was part of the fabric of their youth and what got them into rock and metal. We’re just grateful that we’re still here fucking killing it, and honestly it just feels like ‘Fuck, we’ve still got more years in us, I’m not done’.”

Papa Roach released their ninth album ‘Crooked Teeth’ last week (May 19).

Shaddix told NME of the new record: “I think that this album is a look to the past but also a progressive record, a foot in the past and a foot into the future. It’s time to evolve and time to try new things because it seems like rock is fucking getting boring, and it felt like everything was so homogenised and if we work with the same old producers that everybody else is working with we’re going to end up with the same old drivel, and I’m tired of it and so we needed to switch this shit up, get that young blood.”

He added: “I just feel like some of the stuff that’s going on right now in the world and I don’t want to fucking sing about it, I’ve got to shout, I want to rap, I want to scream, I want to fucking be heard and so I think it was just all those parts kind of just pushed us into this new space of almost like a ‘Let’s introduce who the fuck we are to the people.’ And I think that attitude affected the music majorly and I think it’s gotten us to a space where we’re like ‘Fuck, this is who we are now.’ And it feels really good because it’s a pretty bold, adventurous rock record; it’s all over the place.”

Katy Perry confirms Taylor Swift beef: ‘She started it’

Katy Perry has finally confirmed that she and Taylor Swift have an ongoing ‘beef’.

Fans have been speculating about the two pop stars’ falling out ever since Swift dropped her ‘1989’ album hit ‘Bad Blood’, which is believed to be about Perry.

Meanwhile, Perry’s latest track ‘Swish Swish’ is rumored to be a retaliation track aimed at Swift. During her appearance on last night’s Carpool Karaoke primetime special, James Corden tackled the issue head-on.

“Honestly, it’s really like, she started it, and it’s time for her to finish it,” Perry said, before confirming the long-running rumor that their beef began with a disagreement over backing dancers.

Perry explained:

“Okay, so there are three backing dancers that went on tour with her tour, right? And they asked me before they went on tour if they could go, and I was like, ‘Yeah, of course. I’m not on a record cycle and [they should] get the work, and she’s great and all that. But I will be on a record cycle probably in about a year. So be sure to put a 30-day contingency in your contract so you can get out if you want to join me when I say I’m going back on.’ That year came up, right? And I texted all of them because I’m very close with them and I said, ‘Look, just FYI, I’m about to start. I want to put the word out there. They said, ‘Okay, we’re going to go and talk to management about it.’ And they did, and they got fired.”

Asked by Corden if she has actually tried talking to Swift, Perry replied: “I do the right thing anytime it feels like a fumble, and it was a full shutdown. And then she writes a song about me! And I’m like, ‘Oh, cool, cool, cool. That’s how you wanna deal with it? Karma.'”

Perry then confirmed that she is now keen to bury the hatchet, saying: “But what I want to say is that I’m ready for that B.S. to be done.”

However, she also added rather cryptically: “Now, there is the law of cause and effect. You do something, there’s going to be a reaction, and trust me, daddy, there’s going to be a reaction.”

Meanwhile, Game Of Thrones actor Iain Glen has described the show’s upcoming season as its “best” to date.

Glen, who plays Jorah Mormont in the HBO show, recently told Entertainment Weekly that he praised showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss for writing their best ever scripts.

“I wrote to Dan and David and I said I thought they were the best seven episodes they’ve ever written,” Glen said.

He continued: “The story is going toward a conclusion. There’s no sense of treading water. You have storylines colliding. And the evolving drama and relationships are as good as they have ever been. It definitely feels like the beginning of the end game.”

Glen added of his own character’s current situation: “My feeling is Jorah would die a happy man if he could get forgiveness from Daenerys. He’s been in that mental territory half his life. He’s always been willing to sacrifices his life for her. His loss of life is not as big for him as seeking her redemption.”

Season seven is set to premiere on July 16.

Netflix have released new data that reveals more about what viewers watch at different times of day.

According to the information, users of the streaming service worldwide like to watch comedy shows at breakfast time. Viewers are 34 percent more likely to choose something humorous to watch at 6am than any other time.

Almost half of the service’s customers like to watch dramas around lunchtime, whereas those watching in the evening prefer mysterious programs like Stranger Things or The OA.

Comedy’s popularity rises up again after 11pm, while those watching between midnight and 6am are more likely to watch a documentary, as BBC News reports.

To come up with the viewing patterns, Netflix analyzed six months of streaming data from 22 countries around the world. The project was intended to mark four years since the first series of House Of Cards was released in its entirety.

Set for release next month, GLOW follows the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling – an all-female wrestling federation made up of a series of larger-than-life characters. Alison Brie stars as the show’s protagonist Ruth, an out-of-work actor who turns to wrestling. She is joined by Betty Gilpin and Marc Maron, who plays a B-movie director turned federation’s head.

Kate Nash also stars in the series, playing the character of Rhonda, a British print model. “I cannot even express my excitement and passion for this project,” Nash tweeted upon her announcement in September 2016, continuing, “GLOW is the real story of a 1980s female wrestling league.”

Watch the trailer for GLOW above. The remake of the original 1980s series was created by Liz Flahive (Nurse Jackie) and Carly Mensch (Weeds), while Jenji Kohan (Orange is the New Black) serves as the show’s executive producer.

Who is Dierks Bentley? Songs, tours, videos, history and all you need to know

When most of us get drunk on a plane, we often end up restrained by the flight crew for trying to open the doors at 35,000 feet looking for the beer pong room. Best leave it to an expert like Dierks Bentley, a man capable of turning a jilted, heartbroken honeymoon-for-one into an airborne keg party according to his biggest hit ‘Drunk On A Plane’. It’s a song that certainly turns his live shows into wild-ass free-for-alls and has helped Bentley, over the course of fourteen years and eight albums, become one of the biggest names in contemporary country music. Here’s everything you need to know about this famed mile-high clubber…

What’s Dierks Bentley’s history?

If the average country star learns their craft by being dragged through pig pokes from an early age, getting repeatedly dumped at local dances and drinking themselves blind in Nashville bars for a couple of years, Dierks Bentley doesn’t exactly fit the classic pattern. The son of a bank vice-president, he landed in Nashville aged 19 to attend Vanderbilt University (via the University Of Vermont) and was instantly at odds with the town’s traditional ways of working.

“I moved here in 1994 looking for the source of country music,” he told The Guardian, “I wanted to be a star but I didn’t walk into town saying: ‘Hey, look at me’. A lot of people were dressing like Garth [Brooks], but no one was writing their own music. I knew there was a songwriting community, but I didn’t realize that there were some people who, when they put a record out, didn’t write one song on the album. That blew my mind. I remember thinking: ‘That’s shit, that’s crap’.”

That said, Bentley did his fair share of drinking in Nashville bars while making his name at local bluegrass hotspot the Station Inn. “That’s where I really learned to sing,” he said. “That’s where I learned the real appreciation of country music – not just to listen to it, but also to actually hear it.”

While working at The Nashville Network researching footage of old country shows, Bentley signed to Capital Nashville and released his self-titled debut album in 2003, an instant country hit that featured the Number One Hot Country Songs chart hit ‘What Was I Thinkin’’ – about falling for a girl with a protective, shotgun-toting dad - and quickly went platinum. His second album, 2005’s ‘Modern Day Drifter’, did likewise, spawning two country Number Ones in ‘Settle For A Slowdown’ and ‘Come A Little Closer’ and even made the Billboard Top Ten. By 2008, just three albums and five years in, Bentley was ready to release a greatest hits album ‘Every Mile A Memory’, virtually a boyband’s rate of hitmaking.

Who did Dierks Bentley tour with?

As his star prospered, Dierks toured with long-standing country icons like Kenny Chesney and George Strait, but struggled to reach the same sort of major headliner status despite his many hits. The trick, he discovered around 2010, was to make albums for himself, not arena audiences.

“I passed through the bars and the clubs and took it about as far as it can go,” he told The Guardian. “Musically, I found myself trying to write songs and make records that reflected who I was at the time, but I was always thinking about touring and how to get to the next level. That certainly was not a winning formula. That’s why I kept hitting my head against the ceiling trying to headline. But it wasn’t really happening. Then I did that bluegrass record [2010’s ‘Up on the Ridge’] and it got me back to where I wanted to be musically. From that point forward, I have only made albums for albums’ sake and have not worried at how they translate on the road.”

Refocused, Bentley went on to further success with 2012’s ‘Home’ and its singles ‘Am I The Only One’, ‘Home’ and ‘5-1-5-0’ before 2014’s ‘Riser’ gave him his big crossover hit in the shape of the upbeat ‘Drunk On A Plane’, complete with a video featuring an all-out plane party and Bentley saving the day by taking the controls when the pilot passes out from too much whiskey. Which obviously calls for more tiny bottles of Jack. “I almost didn’t put it on the record,” he said, “but thank God I did: it’s the most fun song I play every night.”

How did Dierks Bentley come up with concept album 'Black'?

Bentley’s latest album ‘Black’ took a more serious tone, following a central character through a series of relationship issues as the album progresses. “I had this concept album in mind about two years ago about an affair,” he said, “but I shelved it. I was watching the show The Affair, which is about leaving one relationship for another. And when I went to sequence this record, the story fell into place for me.”

Though the record is named after his wife Cassidy’s maiden name (his crush since eight grade), Bentley has explained that it’s not an autobiographical album. "It's a relationship album that covers the ups and downs of the journey and ends with some self-realization and evolvement,” he told Taste Of Country. “The song 'Black' helps set all of that in motion at the top of the album by guiding you into the darkness and the shadows of the night. The same guy who sings 'Somewhere On a Beach' winds up growing and having enough perspective to sing something introspective like 'Different for Girls'. By the last song, he's taking a look back on love and life."

What’s Dierks Bentley’s net worth?

Celebrity net Worth puts the figure of $24 million on Bentley. Enough to buy his very own party plane.
