Johnny Knoxville runs a stunt-filled amusement park in Action Point trailer

but Johnny Knoxville hasn’t lost a step. Knoxville’s latest film, Action Point, continues the tradition of real-life stunts that made the Jackass franchise so iconic. This time there’s a story and characters. Knoxville plays the owner of a ramshackle theme park where surviving the rides is half the fun.

Things kick into high gear when a fancier theme park starts moving in on their territory, complete with roller coasters and “a chairlift that actually works.” As Knoxville explains, “What this place needs is an excitement enema. We’re gonna make this place fast and loose.” An offer of free beer brings in the people, but attendees soon find themselves pitted against malfunctioning rides, disintegrating attractions, and real-life “petting zoo” animals.

Tessa Thompson to reunite with Chris Hemsworth in Men in Black spin-off

Thor: Ragnarok’s Tessa Thompson could soon be reuniting with Chris Hemsworth in Sony’s Men in Black spin-off.

Hemsworth is in talks to star in the new take on the alien franchise, and now, EW has confirmed that Thompson has signed on to join him. F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) is on board to direct from a script by Iron Man’s Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, which will continue the franchise after the original Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith trilogy.

The original Men in Black films focused on Jones and Smith’s Agents K and J, but the as-yet-untitled new film is said to have more of an ensemble cast instead of just a duo. Other castings should be announced soon. Smith and Jones aren’t expected to reprise their roles, but the new film will be set in the same universe as the originals.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported Thompson’s involvement.

Thompson most recently starred opposite Hemsworth in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok, as well as the sci-fi drama Annihilation. She’s currently shooting Creed II, and she’ll be seen next in season 2 of Westworld season 2 (premiering April 22) and Boots Riley’s Sundance hit Sorry to Bother You (in theaters July 6).

The new Men in Black will hit theaters June 14, 2019.

Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth forms a supergroup in new Deadpool 2 trailer

A new trailer for Deadpool 2, that’s what! On Thursday, Ryan Reynolds showed off his “devil-may-care attitude and strong thighs” as the kinda, sorta superhero in a new preview for the upcoming sequel to 2016’s Deadpool.

The extended trailer brings back faves from the first flick, including Deadpool’s girl, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), who he feeds this classic line: “Sorry, I’m late. I was rounding up all the gluten in the world and launching it into space where it can’t not hurt us anymore”; his buddy Weasel (T.J. Miller); his roomie, Blind Al (Leslie Uggams); and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand).

As previously introduced in earlier footage, the Merc with a Mouth is looking for some help thwarting glowing-eyed and bionic-armed Cable (Josh Brolin). The villain plans to kill a kid, which means Deadpool needs to form a “super-duper f—ing group” to stop him. The only prerequisites to join this gang? “Tough, morally flexible, and young enough to carry their own franchise for 10 to 12 years.” Easy?

Here’s the official plot synopsis to tide you over until the movie’s release in a couple of months:

After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor — finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Taylor Swift's reputation is first album since Adele's 25 to sell 2 million copies

According to numbers released by Nielsen Music (via Billboard), Swift’s reputation sold 5,000 copies for the week ending March 15, thus pushing it over the 2 million mark in sales. That makes reputation the first album since Adele’s 25, released in 2015, to break that mark.

reputation is now Swift’s sixth album to hit 2 million in sales, following 1989, Red, Speak Now, Fearless, and her self-titled debut album. It took 18 weeks for reputation to cross 2 million in sales; by contrast, Adele’s 25 reached the number in three days while Swift’s prior album, 1989, sold 2 million in three weeks.

reputation was one of only two albums to sell more than 1 million copies in 2017, along with Swift pal Ed Sheeran’s Divide.

Swift will launch her reputation tour on May 8 in Arizona.

Once Upon a Time: Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emilie de Ravin returning for series finale

Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Emilie de Ravin are all set to appear in the series finale, EW has learned.

Morrison (Emma Swan), Dallas (Prince Charming), and Goodwin (Snow White) had all been with the show since the pilot, while de Ravin (Belle) joined the show halfway through season 1 before being promoted to regular in season 2. The quartet exited the series at the end of season 6 ahead of the rebooted seventh season, though Morrison and de Ravin both appeared in one episode earlier this season.

“Seven years after we set off on this magical journey, we prepare to say goodbye to the cast, crew and writers that made the ‘happily ever after’ that is Once Upon a Time possible,” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis say. “We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to say farewell than by reuniting so many of the characters that our fiercely loyal fans spent years with on their adventures. We hope everyone joins our Once family, old and new, for what we hope will be the sendoff of a lifetime befitting this stellar cast and its incomparable fans.”

The actors join the previously announced returning stars in the season ender, including Jared Gilmore (Henry Mills), Bev Elliott (Granny), Lee Arenberg (Grumpy), Tony Amendola (Geppetto), Keegan Connor Tracy (Blue Fairy), JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Ariel), Robbie Kay (Peter Pan), Sean Maguire (Robin Hood), and Victoria Smurfit (Cruella de Vil). Rebecca Mader (Zelena/Wicked Witch) will also appear in the series finale as her guest arc continues into the final episodes.

Once Upon a Time airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Disney World replaces Pirates of the Caribbean ride's controversial auction scene with female pirate

enough so that the Walt Disney World resort has reopened its classic Pirates of the Caribbean ride without a particularly memorable scene depicting a band of women being sold into marriage against their will.

After announcing last summer its plans to temporarily close the iconic attraction for refurbishment, the Orlando-based resort debuted Monday a slightly altered narrative along the ride’s course. As boat-bound guests traverse the ride’s story — which, in part, depicts a seaside hamlet overrun by sing-songy pirates — they will now encounter significant alterations to the auction scene, as a female pirate auctions off the townsfolk’s “most prized possessions and goods,” per the Disney Parks blog.

The female pirate, dubbed “Redd,” previously appeared as one of the brides-to-be. The character has now “switched sides” to do the auctioning. Disney says the change was made in the spirit of a notable Walt Disney quote, in which he championed his company’s dedication to “keep moving forward” with new ideas.

A revamped version of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride opened at Disneyland Paris in 2017, while the first Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland in Anaheim will undergo a similar refurbishment beginning April 23.

The original Disneyland park in California first debuted the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in 1967, and it has since become one of the most beloved attractions in the Disney chain of parks, even spanning a successful series of films starring Johnny Depp. Disney World’s interpretation opened in 1973, while Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris followed suit in 1983 and 1992, respectively.

Shanghai Disneyland, the newest park in the Disney family, premiered a boundary-pushing Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure ride when it opened in the summer of 2016, which incorporates boats that can move sideways, forward, and backward, elaborate digital projections, and advanced audio-animatronic figures.

The Walking Dead: Norman Reedus promises a 'satisfying' finale

But season 8 of the zombie drama has been a much different beast — especially the past few weeks.

What we’ve seen instead is several stories all taking place at once — sometimes with up to five different plotlines playing out per episode. And according to star Norman Reedus, it looks like that will continue right into the season finale on April 15. “There are about four elements of the finale that are great on their own,” says the man who plays Daryl Dixon, also noting that any one of the four would be great on their own.

“There are four things that happen that could be the finale, and they all go off at once at the same time,” says Reedus. “They head in different directions, and they’re all individually as good as the next, and they’re all very, very satisfying. I like that about it. I like that it’s not just one person’s story. There are probably four, maybe five, different directions that the show could’ve ended on and it went in all of them. It’s very satisfying.”

Reedus’ description seems to match what showrunner Scott M. Gimple also told EW earlier this year about the season-ender. “It’s very big,” said Gimple then. “Probably currently a little too big. It was pretty amazing the scope of some of the things that we got to do. And yet the emotional intensity was insane. And it very much sets up the start of the next story.”

Whether that new mysterious stranger Georgie will be part of that next story remains to be seen, but it looks like there will be plenty of other things — four or five, if Reedus is to believed — that need to be sorted out before then.

Stranger Things stars stand up for 'awesome' fan after classmates skip birthday bash

Millie Bobby Brown and Gaten Matarazzo are showing support for a boy after his disappointing Stranger Things-themed birthday party.

Featuring “Demogorgon Blood” punch, a recreation of Joyce’s wall lights, and a custom cake wishing Aaron Alambat a “happy birthday,” the scene was set for a fun bash to mark the California boy’s special occasion. But according to his sister, Ayen, none of the invitees from Aaron’s school made it.

“my brother invited 8 of his classmates for his stranger things themed bday party & none of their punk selves showed up,” she tweeted Sunday, sharing images of the thoughtful decorations and treats.

As the tweet went viral, Brown — who portrays the mysterious and powerful Eleven on Netflix’s massive hit — spoke up for her would-be fellow Hawkins resident.

“What!!!!” Brown incredulously responded to the tweet. “Oh Well You can let them all know that everyone on behalf on Stranger things would’ve come! I think your awesome and next year I would like an invite… Please?”

“Count me in too!” chimed in Matarazzo, who plays the always-enthused Dustin. “I’ll bring the chocolate pudding.”

“YES MILLIE,” Ayen responded in a series of excited tweets. “AARON LOVES YOU AND THE WHOLE CAST.”

Ayen later told her followers that her brother has resolved not to attend the future parties of his classmates as payback, but perhaps the kids can take a page out of the Stranger Things playbook and unite.

The Stranger Things cast has a lot more to celebrate: The cast recently scored a pay increase ahead of season 3, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As Eleven might say, bitchin’.

Inside the making of Kate McKinnon, Mila Kunis comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me

The SNL star’s first front-and-center blockbuster role was the Ghostbusters reboot, and Kunis was pushed into the next level of stardom with the overwhelming success of Bad Moms. And now the two comedians are teaming up for this summer’s The Spy Who Dumped Me.

The trailer hit the internet Wednesday morning and with it came the announcement that the action flick will be joining the ranks of heavy-hitting hijink comedies like Girls Trip and Trainwreck. But there is one major element that sets The Spy Who Dumped Me apart from its fellow summer movies: It’s helmed by Susanna Fogel, who is a member of the even smaller ranks of female filmmakers.

Fogel is a relative newcomer in Hollywood, having hit the scene with her 2014 indie Life Partners, which starred Leighton Meester, Adam Brody, and Gillian Jacobs. She directs Spy on her own, but teamed up with her good friend — and partner in navigating the ups and downs of the industry — David Iserson to pen the script. Iserson is basically a veteran in the television world (he’s worked on everything from New Girl to Mr. Robot to Mad Men), but when Fogel sat down with EW she described the two as equally fresh on the big screen. They bonded over the experience of having years-long labors of love that never got produced, so it made sense to partner up.

“Before we started writing the movie we would just sit and vent about our broken dreams,” Fogel tells EW. “Then eventually we were cracking each other up, so we figured if we could make each other laugh that was a good sign.”

First came the brainstorm: Fogel said the two friends loved action movies but also wanted to explore a smaller story of female friendship.

“We were at lunch one day and one of us said, ‘Broad City meets Bourne,'” said Fogel. “Our jumping-off point was, What would we do if we had to run from the cops in, like, my Toyota Prius? What would we do if we were confronted with an assassin? We’d probably make fun of something he was wearing.

And thus, The Spy Who Dumped Me was born (er, bourne?).

The basic premise is that the main character, Audrey (Kunis), is going through a particularly bad breakup that culminated in her being completely ghosted. When her ex-boyfriend (played by Justin Theroux) shows up suddenly at the apartment she shares with her best friend, Morgan (McKinnon), it’s revealed that he’s actually a spy (ghosting explained). He has a gang of assassins hot on his trail and the two BFFs suddenly find themselves wrapped up in the spy game themselves, traveling across Europe to escape the tail. Sam Heughan of Outlander, Gillian Anderson of The X-Files, and Hasan Minhaj of The Daily Show also appear in the flick.

It’s an impressive list of A-listers, especially for a first big studio movie. As any filmmaker will point out, wrangling a cast is one of the first challenges they face (after, you know, selling the thing). With Spy, it all began with Kate McKinnon. The SNL star had a small cameo in Life Partners and bonded with Fogel over what would be the start of both of their careers. She was the first person to come on board The Spy Who Dumped Me, which meant that whoever they cast as her best friend had to be both available during the SNL summer hiatus and McKinnon’s perfect friend match.

Lionsgate, the studio behind the action flick, had a wish list of actresses for the second lead. Kunis was at the top of that list but her schedule didn’t allow for a chemistry read with McKinnon; instead, Fogel had to assess for herself whether the two actors would have a rapport.

“Once I sat down with Mila I learned that she was a warm, funny, down-to-Earth person just like Kate,” she explained. “I suspected that they would like each other. It’s a weird guessing game: You sort of have to psychoanalyze them over coffee for two hours, do the same with the other person, and then decide that they’re not going to push each other’s buttons.”

The whole crew convened on set during the summer of 2017 — in enviable locales like Amsterdam, Prague, and Berlin, no less — and by all accounts, absolutely zero buttons were pushed. Instead Fogel and her team put all their energy into figuring out exactly how to make a spy movie unlike any other spy movie before — but not so unlike its predecessors that it would alienate all the Bourne fans out there. During the writing process, Fogel and Iserson consulted with a few clandestine acquaintances to make sure plot points, like potential threats to the government, were up to par. On set, it all came down to the action scenes.

“It was really important that it felt legitimate,” explained Fogel. “We were going for stunts that weren’t ironic, for real action-movie action.”

Another goal of Fogel’s in making The Spy Who Dumped Me was to empower her lead actresses and allow them to feel a strong connection to the characters, who are funny and smart in the midst of their espionage hijinks.

“I still feel when I meet actresses, no matter how high-profile they are, that they are starved for good roles,” she said. “I really felt an appreciation from both of them that they even got to explore grounded parts. And I was so happy to give them that.”

That ethos runs rampant throughout the film. Even though the story kicks off with a breakup, viewers should take note that this is not a rom-com, nor does it follow the now-tired tropes that movies about women are often forced into — no one is searching for love (the two friends are the main relationship), no one turns on each other just for a plot point (the espionage, car chases, and explosions provide the conflict), and no one is going to alienate men (just because there’s a female protagonist doesn’t mean it’s a chick flick).

Fogel was adamant about all these points because she was eager to see a film that represented her own world view: One where women aren’t simply defined by their desire to get married.

“I’m a single 30-something woman with no kids so I feel excited to make a movie about people who aren’t angling for that,” she said. “I think that’s a lot of people I know, and even for women who have chosen that path, they don’t only want to see characters getting married and having kids. They want to have an adventure with their friends, too.”

In the landscape of today’s industry, it’s unfortunately not enough for audiences to simply appreciate it: They have to turn out to the theaters in droves (especially when a movie is helmed by a female director; those gigs are unfortunately so few and bar between that the antiquated system still hinges the entire genre’s future on the success of a handful of projects). After an overwhelmingly positive test screening, the release date for The Spy Who Dumped Me was pushed back from July 6 to August 3, a weekend that has historically proved very lucrative for R-rated comedies (like predecessors Girls Trip and Trainwreck). And while Fogel will undoubtedly be glued to the box office, her hopes for the movie are far more anecdotal than financial.

Black Lightning: Why Nafessa Williams cried the first time she wore Thunder's suit

Warning: This post contains spoilers from Tuesday night’s Black Lightning on The CW. Read at your own risk.

After months of anticipation, the CW superhero drama debuted Anissa’s (Nafessa Williams) Thunder superhero suit in Tuesday’s night episode. Anissa visited Gambi (James Remar) to talk about his falling out with her father Jefferson (Cress Williams) and ended up leaving his shop with a sleek new costume, which she immediately threw on before heading out into the field to investigate Freeland’s Green Light problem with Black Lightning. (Read the full recap here).

While donning the official Thunder suit for the first time was a big moment for Anissa, it was an even more profound (and emotional) one for the woman who plays her. “Oh my god, I cried!” Nafessa Williams tells EW of the first time she put on the official Thunder costume. “It was so freaking emotional because you have to understand that I didn’t have a superhero that looked like me.”

The costume — which was designed by Laura Jean Shannon — takes about 30 minutes to put on; however, Williams says that once it’s on, it’s easy to spend up to 12 hours in it. “It’s a process, but it’s fairly comfortable. It’s made out of a sculpted armor material. It stretches so I’m able to do my stunts and do what I need to do,” she explains.

Twelve-hour work days, though, don’t seem to damper the gratitude Williams feels about being part of this show. “I’m hugely honored and proud to be that for this generation and be a part of telling Black Lightning’s story, because not many of us knew who Black Lightning was until now.”

Black Lightning airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
