The first gauntlet against the selfie stick has been thrown for festival season.
Both Coachella and Lollapalooza have noted on their websites that the camera attachments, which allow users to take selfies with relative ease, will not be allowed at either festival this year.
Among the many things festival goers are not allowed to bring to Coachella, added to the list this year is the notation “no selfie sticks/narcissists” (directly followed by “no stuffed animals”).
Lollapalooza is a bit more specific, saying that “GoPro attachments like sticks, selfie sticks & monopods” will not be allowed.
Looks like the hoards will have to take their selfless the old-fashioned way: with arms wide open.
Coachella takes place April 10-12 and 17-19 this year in Indio, Calif., while Lollapalooza occurs July 31-Aug. 2 in Chicago. It’s unknown if Bonnaroo, arguably the third major festival in the U.S. along with the previous two, will do the same.
