After some very positive reaction following its screening at Sundance, Montage of Heck, the first official documentary about the life of Kurt Cobain is getting a proper theatrical release in addition to its already planned HBO premiere.
The movie, which is executive produced by Courtney Love, Krist Novoselic and members of Cobain’s family, will be in movie theaters April 10, followed by an HBO premiere on May 4.

For those unable to wait the 10 days until the film will be available, The Guardian premiered an exclusive clip from the movie. The minute long video splices footage of Nirvana performing with animated bits from Cobain’s journals, creating a literal montage of visual imagery to go with the live recording.
Turns out Montage of Heck isn’t just a clever title.
It’s the second trailer for the film; the last was released last month.
