Serena Williams Opens Up About Her Battle with Postpartum Depression: 'I Wanted to Be Perfect'

In her July cover story for Harper’s Bazaar UK, the 23-time Grand Slam champ opened up about some of the more difficult aspects of life since welcoming daughter Alexis Olympia, now 8 months.

“Honestly, sometimes I still think I have to deal with it,” admits Williams, 36, of her struggle with postpartum depression. (After Olympia’s birth via emergency cesarean section, the athlete also had a near-death experience involving pulmonary embolism.)

“I think people need to talk about it more because it’s almost like the fourth trimester, it’s part of the pregnancy,” she explains. “I remember one day, I couldn’t find Olympia’s bottle and I got so upset I started crying … because I wanted to be perfect for her.”

But overall, Williams is confident she has been a good role model for her baby girl. “I hope I am, and I’m going to strive to be the best mom I can be,” she says.

Went back to the zoo from our first date (yes that's the infamous leopard pen from my Colbert interview). Brought a third wheel this time. We didn't mind.

Regardless of her mama’s intent, Olympia has already taken an interest in tennis — but Williams has much different goals for her daughter.

“I don’t know any player who would say they want their kid to play tennis,” she says, referring to the sacrifices she has had to made to excel in the sport. (She does credit baby Olympia with her Australian Open win, though, which she clinched early on in her pregnancy in January 2017.)

“Outside of the Mandarin tutor and the French tutor, which I’m really serious about, and of course ballet, I have no dreams for her,” Williams says. “I want to let her do whatever she wants to do, as long as it’s positive. Always try to be an addition to society, not a subtraction.”

Not sure what I did to deserve her @olympiaohanian ????????

The million-dollar question: Will Olympia be getting a sibling from her mom and dad Alexis Ohanian? “If I wasn’t playing tennis, I’d be pregnant right now – sorry, I’m one of those women,” Williams says with a laugh. “I’ve been injured so many times, and played on it, my body is used to adjusting.”

“I told Alexis, I hope it’s another girl. Olympia needs a little sister, and then we can have a boy,” she shares. “I’ve only been around girls my whole life.”

Adam Levine's Daughter Dusty Stars in Maroon 5's New Music Video — Along with J. Lo and More Celebs

— and she’s among some amazing company.

Maroon 5 released their music video for “Girls Like You” on Wednesday, recruiting an all-star lineup of women to make cameos, including familiar famous faces like Jennifer Lopez and Gal Gadot, as well as activists like Angy Rivera and Franchesca Ramsey.

Tiffany Haddish, Millie Bobby Brown, Camila Cabello, Mary J. Blige, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Silverman, Rita Ora, Aly Raisman, Beanie Feldstein, Chloe Kim, Ashley Graham and many more also make appearances, showing off their best moves while dancing back-to-back with the singer.

However, it’s not until the end of the video that we see Levine’s own “girls”: his wife Behati Prinsloo and their first child, Dusty. The mother-daughter duo stand behind the Maroon 5 frontman, who then turns around to wrap his arms around them.

Missing from the sweet family moment is their latest addition: daughter Gio Grace, who was born on Feb. 15.

Also appearing in the video is the dance queen herself, Ellen DeGeneres, who is actually to partly to thank for naming Dusty.

Shortly after his first child’s birth, Levine appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss how the talk show host shot down his idea for the baby girl’s name.

“So I’m going through it and I think I have a great name, and I texted Ellen,” he said, not revealing his name idea. “And I was like, ‘What do you think?’ and she’s like, ‘I hate it, I think it’s a terrible name.’ ”

The host didn’t leave the then-dad-to-be hanging, though.

“She gave me like five names to think about, like, ‘This, this, this, this’ — Dusty was in there,” Levine said, telling DeGeneres, “So you basically named my kid.”

Jennifer Lawrence Supports Ex and 'Very Good Friend' Darren Aronofsky at N.Y.C. Event

The former couple split in the fall after over a year of dating, but they were all smiles posing together at the BAM Gala in New York City on Wednesday.

The reunion didn’t stop there: according to E! News, the 27-year-old actress introduced Aronofsky, an honoree of the night.

“I am thrilled to be here tonight to present this honor to my very good friend, Darren Aronofsky,” she said.

Lawrence wore white for the event, pairing a dress with a structured bodice that fell below her knees with a pair of strappy silver heels and clutch. She wore her blonde locks in loose waves. Meanwhile, Aronofsky kept things simple in a navy suit with a black button-up and matching tie.

Lawrence and Aronofsky made their public debut for the Venice Film Festival photocall of their film mother! The pair began dating in September 2016 shortly after the movie’s production and their relationship blossomed despite their 22-year age difference.

She first talked about their romance after a year of staying mum in an interview with Vogue. Lawrence previously shared that she was immediately drawn to the director after meeting on the set of the film.

“We had energy,” she said. “I had energy for him. I don’t know how he felt about me. I’ve been in relationships before where I am just confused. And I’m never confused with him.”

“I’m friends with all my exes, actually,” she said. “For the most part, yeah, I have a theory: I think it’s because I’m blunt. I don’t think that you can have any sort of bad relationship with anybody if you’re just blunt.”

She continued, “Everybody always knows how you feel at all times and there’s no lying, it’s just honesty. Everybody’s a good guy to each other. All my boyfriends have been wonderful. Nick [Hoult] was a great boyfriend.”

John Goodman Breaks Silence on Roseanne Cancellation: 'I Wasn't Gonna Get an Emmy Anyway'

The 65-year-old actor — who served as Roseanne Barr’s on-screen husband, Dan Conner, on the sitcom — said he would “rather say nothing than to cause more trouble” in a video taken at an auto repair shop in New Orleans and obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

On Monday, Barr shared a since-deleted racist attack on former Barack Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, who is black, comparing her to an ape. ABC canceled Roseanne hours later.

Goodman, who assured fans that “everything’s fine” with him, said that he’s not familiar with Twitter and had no comment about the controversy.

“I don’t know anything about it,” he said. “I don’t read it.”

The Big Lebowski star also shrugged off rumors that Roseanne would no longer be eligible for Emmys. (Goodman won the award for outstanding guest actor in a drama series for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip in 2007, but never took home the trophy for his seven nominations for his role as Dan Conner, according to IMDB.)

“I wasn’t gonna get an Emmy anyway,” he said. “I’ve been up there [10] times already, and if I didn’t get one, I’m not gonna get one.”

As for rumors of a spin-off featuring the cast sans Barr, Goodman dismissed the gossip. “Then you’ve heard more than I have,” he said of the new show called for by fans.

John Goodman and Roseanne Barr

Other Roseanne cast members have shared their reactions to the show’s cancellation on social media.

Michael Fishman, who played Barr’s son D.J. during the show’s original run and its 2018 reboot, tweeted that he was “devastated” by the cancellation and denounced his TV mom’s remarks.

Fishman added, “I condemn these statements vehemently. They are reprehensible and intolerable, contradicting my beliefs and outlook on life and society. I have always lived and taught my children to be inclusive. I believe our show strived to embrace different backgrounds and opinions, through open dialogue.”

Barr, 65, responded to Fishman, 36, early Wednesday, writing, “I created the platform for that inclusivity and you know it. You throw me under the bus. nice!”

Sara Gilbert, 43, who played Roseanne’s daughter Darlene, also reacted on Twitter, saying that Barr’s comments were “abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed with her actions to say the least.”

Barr replied, “Wow! unreal.”

Later on Wednesday, Barr praised Goodman on Twitter, writing of he and fellow Roseanne star Laurie Metcalf, “I just wish ABC had not thrown two of the greatest actors in the world out with me-Laurie and John. I’m so sick over this-they will never have better character actors on their network.”

A source told PEOPLE that Barr is “in deep darkness and is very remorseful” following the scandal.

“Being a comedian, she writes stuff she thinks is funny, but it’s always misunderstood. She’s not intentionally hurtful,” the insider said. “They all loved each other on the Roseanne set. It really was one big happy family.”

Farewell, Rick Grimes: The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln to Exit Series in Season 9

According to Entertainment Weekly, Andrew Lincoln, the hit drama’s original leading man, is set to exit the series in the upcoming ninth season. (AMC has not commented; Collider was the first to report the news.)

Lincoln, 44, has starred as Rick Grimes since the series premiered eight seasons ago in 2010.

According to Collider, Lincoln’s final run will last only six episodes.

Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead

“I can’t wait to see this next episode,” Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly after the season 8 finale. “It’s really interesting. It’s very different in a good way. In an exciting way.”

“It’s more reminiscent of the pilot than any other season that we’ve embarked on, which makes me very happy,” he added. “It’s a good time for it. It’s a really exciting time for it. I feel like season 1. It’s a big year, and I’m excited for it.”

Lincoln’s impending departure comes amid a transitional period for the series. In addition to the exit of fellow TWD original Chandler Riggs and, possibly, Lauren Cohan, Angela Kang is taking over the reigns from longtime showrunner Scott M. Gimple.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October.

Jessica Jones season 3: Netflix release date, plot, trailers and everything we know so far

John Mayer Takes Over WWHL for Andy Cohen's 50th Birthday — and Jokes About Romance Rumors

The staff at Watch What Happens Live surprised their boss by taping a special episode in which the Bravo personality appeared as a guest — and BFF John Mayer took over hosting duties.

Cohen, who turns 50 on Saturday, gasped as the “New Light” singer strolled into the Bravo Clubhouse.

“It is so hard to go dark on Andy because we talk so constantly. I couldn’t give away that I was in New York. It was the hardest 12 hours of my life,” said Mayer, 40.

The celebrations included cake, balloons, an embarrassing dive into Cohen’s vault of personal videos, a phone call from Dolly Parton and video messages from celeb pals Sarah Jessica Parker, Anderson Cooper, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.

Mayer even serenaded his friend with an acoustic cover of “It’s My House” by Diana Ross.

“Oh my God this is amazing!” Cohen sighed.

Mayer also joked about how being close with Cohen allows him entry into Hollywood’s A-list circles despite his dating history. (He’s romanced Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson.)

“You have a lot of friends who without you would want nothing to do with me, and I find that exciting. You’re friends with Jennifer Lawrence, who just doesn’t want anything to do with me. And look at me. I don’t have the greatest track record when it comes to celebrity relationships, so it’s amazing to watch your friends humor me on a friend level but also keep a fair distance from me,” he said.

“It’s really, really fun. Because if you are somebody who cares about their image … dating John Mayer at this point is conceptually just sort of a no-no. So it’s really fun to get to hand out with your friends, your A-list star friends, who otherwise would be highly uncomfortable sitting around me. And I want to thank you for that.”

“Well I want them to see you in a ‘new light’ that I see you,” Cohen replied, riffing on Mayer’s new single.

“Thank you. Slowly but surely I’m setting myself up for another disastrous celebrity relationship so that I can wake up a month later and be back 10 years in time,” he said.

Dave Grohl’s failed collaboration with David Bowie is being released

Dave Grohl‘s failed collaboration with David Bowie will be released soon.

The Foo Fighters frontman hoped to record the song with Bowie before his death but Bowie turned down the opportunity.

Now a mystery band has taken up the track and the song is set to be released. Speaking to GQ, Grohl said: “I actually gave it to someone recently. I tried for years, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. We tried it, kind of worked on it, then I actually contacted Bowie about doing it together for this movie soundtrack, that didn’t work out. He didn’t like the movie, it wasn’t me, it was the movie (laughs). Then I started working on it again, and I then gave it to another band, who hasn’t used it yet.”

When asked about which band will be releasing the track, Grohl said that he didn’t want to “spoil the surprise.”

Meanwhile, Grohl has ruled out the possibility of ever running for the US presidency, saying that he’s “not doing an Oprah” by mounting a challenge to Donald Trump in 2020.

“[Hawkins] said, ‘You need to be president and run for office.’ Fuck that. And that’s my quote, right there,” Grohl said. “I’m not doing an Oprah. I’m not going to go, ‘Well, you never know.’

“The American Dream was still tangible, still desirable,” he said. “Today, the American Dream is broken. I’ve probably traveled internationally more than our current president and the one thing I understand that he doesn’t is that the world isn’t as big as you think it is. It is all in your neighborhood. India, Asia, Iceland aren’t other solar systems,” he added.

“I am ashamed of our president. I feel apologetic for it when I travel.”

These Are the Best Songs to Help You Get Over a Breakup

The bad news: it’s never easy. The good news: you’re not alone with your aching heart. If the music we listen to is any indication, then breaking up, feeling down about it and hopefully finding the courage to move on are some of the most common shared human experiences. As centuries of forlorn singletons have learned and generations of songwriters have mastered, one of the best cures for heartbreak is the balm of music that speaks to our souls — or maybe helps us rationalize away the tears.

“Heartache is what motivates many artists to write songs in the first place,” explains Spotify’s trends expert Shanon Cook to TIME; there are over half a million breakup-themed playlists on the platform alone. “Some people might not want or know how to articulate how they’re feeling during a rough time,” Cook adds. “Maybe it’s nice to let Sam Smith or Kelly Clarkson express it for you.”

While some classics remain timeless in their appeal — songs like Beyoncé‘s “Irreplaceable,” Adele‘s “Someone Like You” and Kelly Clarkson‘s “Since U Been Gone” remain the top three most popular additions to breakup-themed playlists on Spotify, for instance — 2018 and recent years have their own new music to throw into the heartbreak-and-recovery mix. There’s The Weeknd‘s appropriately dejected songs from his new EP My Dear Melancholy, for instance, and some powerful tunes from the past year by pop queens St. Vincent, Lorde, Kesha and P!nk, to name just a few.

As Cook notes, you can pretty much slot breakup songs into two categories: “raw, tender tracks that tap into the fragility of the human heart” (think: Adele), or “dismissive, I-don’t-care-I’m-so-over-you type of songs” (here’s where Clarkson would come in). “Interestingly, a great many of the popular songs in break-up-themed playlists are pop songs and the artists, for the most part, are big celebrities,” Cook continues, suggesting that we often turn to familiar, beloved artists when we’re going through a rough time.

Below, TIME has pulled together a list of some of the most popular breakup songs on those Spotify playlists, as well as some under-the-radar favorites that might just come in handy when dealing with a broken heart. Here’s to moving on — eventually.

“Call Out My Name,” The Weeknd

When The Weeknd dropped an EP My Dear Melancholy in March 2018, he had not one but two breakups to pour out into his dark, moody R&B. On “Call Out My Name,” his raw heartbreak comes through loud and clear. “I almost cut a piece of myself for your life / Guess I was just another pit stop.” At least we can commiserate with The Weeknd, who’s going through it right alongside the rest of us.

“Chelsea Hotel #2,” Leonard Cohen

Some heartbreak is predicated on just a few powerful moments. “You got away, didn’t you babe?” Cohen recalls in this simple, poetic ode to a love affair gone awry. “I never once heard you say, ‘I need you.'” Time marches on, the moment passes, and we’re left with Cohen’s evocative memories.

“Stay,” Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko

As it turns out, Rihanna can turn on the tears just as well as she can pump up the party. “Stay,” her 2012 collaboration with singer-songwriter Mikky Ekko, is an aching, searching ballad that lets her lead in an expressive push and pull duet. “The reason I hold on / ’cause I need this hole gone
/ Funny you’re the broken one / but I’m the only one who needed saving,” they join together to sing — an apt description of how we can get it twisted.

“Heartbeats,” José González

Sweet and dreamy, González’s “Heartbeats” sounds like what a warm bath feels like at the end of a long, hard day. Let his subtle guitar and rolling voice take you away.

“Love Yourself,” Justin Bieber

It was a song that ruled airwaves — and, in its simplicity of construction and catchiness of refrain, remains timeless. When you’re ready to move on, “Love Yourself” should be on repeat. Because as Bieber tells us, “And now I know, I’m better sleeping on my own.”

“Ain’t No Sunshine,” Bill Withers

This Bill Withers classic tells it like it is, in signature blues style with its haunting instrumentation. “Only darkness when she’s gone,” he croons. “And this house just ain’t a home any time she goes away.”

“Skinny Love,” Bon Iver

For a little bit of folk salvation, turn to Bon Iver, whose evocative strums and lilting voice speak straight to the soul. “I tell my love to wreck it all
/ Cut out all the ropes and let me fall,” he mourns. “And now all your love is wasted / And then who the hell was I?” Sometimes we can’t be the people we want to be in love; sometimes they can’t be the people we want them to be, either.

“Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright,” Bob Dylan

A little harmonica, a little Dylan poetry, and you’re well on your way to recovery. Some things just aren’t meant to be. “It ain’t not use in turning on your light, babe / I’m on the dark side of the road,” he shrugs. Go ahead, shrug it off with him.

“Someone Like You,” Adele

Sit down. Grab the Kleenex. Cue up “Someone Like You.” This is the ritual of heartbreak. Adele’s range evokes every shade of pain, regret and nostalgia. “For me, it isn’t over,” she admits. And yet: “Never mind, I’ll find someone like you,” she fights on.

“Stitches,” Shawn Mendes

When you’re still in the thick of it, turn to young crooner Mendes, who sings like he means it. “Just like a moth drawn to a flame, you lured me in, I couldn’t sense the pain,” he sighs. Yet stitches suggests that things are soon to be on the mend.

“Back to Black,” Amy Winehouse

The jazzy swing of “Back to Black” belies the darkness of Winehouse’s challenging mixed emotions. “We only said goodbye with words / I died a hundred times,” she croons. Some failures hurt every time.

“Somebody That I Used to Know,” Gotye

Given a little time and introspection, perhaps the relationship wasn’t so perfect after all. That’s what Gotye and Kimbra are here to tell us on the insidious and light 2011 breakout hit “Somebody That I Used to Know.” “Told myself that you were right for me / But felt so lonely in your company / But that was love and it’s an ache I still remember,” Gotye sings: even the frustrations come with their lingering appeal, despite it all.

“Let Her Go,” Passenger

Passenger has a sweet, light touch on “Let Her Go” that will be soothing to anyone mourning a relationship’s end. “‘Cause you only need the light when it’s burning low / Only miss the sun when it starts to snow / Only know you love her when you let her go,” he sings. Yes: we always want what we can’t have. That bittersweet truth is something we just have to sit with.

“Stay With Me,” Sam Smith

After a breakup, it might not be a bad idea to just play both of Sam Smith‘s albums on back-to-back repeat for a few days — if your heart can handle it. That’s what the British crooner is best at: tapping into that emotional ache and wringing every bit of beautiful sound out of it. When you’re still in the thick of the regret stage, turn to “Stay With Me” to say in song everything you want to say out loud. The melody is so pretty that humming along might help you feel just a little better.

“Irreplaceable,” Beyoncé

“To the left, to the left / everything you own in a box to the left.” In this 2006 classic and breakup mainstay, Beyoncé wrote the playbook on kicking someone out — and when the Queen speaks, it’s worth listening. The gentle R&B ballad is a reminder to value yourself first; let the partners make their own mistakes.

“I Fall Apart,” Post Malone

Post Malone’s big hit may be titled “rockstar,” but it turns out that the bulk of his work is actually not about living the good life. Instead, the Texan singer-songwriter has a knack for setting his heartbreak and emotional vulnerability to music. Exhibit A: “I Fall Apart,” a warbling, raw slow-jam that falls somewhere between ballad and R&B: “Try to brush it off but it keep on goin’ / All these scars can’t help from showing,” he sings, a reminder that self-medication is not always an answer.

“New York,” St. Vincent

Indie darling St. Vincent knows how to hit the emotional pain points on “New York,” her balladic ode to a relationship long gone, and the city that’s changed around her. “New York isn’t New York without you love,” she admits. “I have lost a hero / I have lost a friend / But for you, darling I’d do it all again.” For anyone who’s stayed in place while others have moved on, the soaring, simple tune should hit home.

“Happier,” Ed Sheeran

Turn to Ed Sheeran for that moment when you know your lover has moved on. And it’s a good thing. And yet. “Ain’t nobody hurt you like I hurt you / but ain’t nobody need you like I do,” he reflects on this down-tempo ballad. It’s a moment of resigning yourself to fate, but also accepting that feelings remain.

“Fix You,” Coldplay

Chris Martin kicks things off with a gut punch: “When you try your best, but you don’t succeed / When you get what you want, but not what you need / When you feel so tired but you can’t sleep / Stuck in reverse… When you love someone but it goes to waste / Could it be worse?” Not by much, no. Thankfully we have the soothing chords of Coldplay to wash over us.

“Retrograde,” James Blake

James Blake’s haunting hum of a voice on “Retrograde” and the staticky buzz of the production in the background feels like a hymn. Is it a love song or a song of yearning? Maybe a bit of both, but dark enough to match a heartbreak mood anyway. “We’re alone now,” he intones. “Ignore everybody else, we’re alone now.”

“What About Us,” P!nk

P!nk has always made big, stadium-ready anthems. “What About Us” is that, but for the outcasts and the lovelorn, a purely beautiful melody amped up by her powerful voice and insistent questions. “What about us? What about the plans that ended in disaster?” she wonders. “What about love? What about trust? What about us?” She may not have the answers, but her music is a good place to start.

“Praying,” Kesha

Few songs of 2017 pack as much emotional wallop as Kesha’s powerful comeback ballad. “You brought the flames and you put me through hell, I had to learn how to fight for myself,” she admits. But ultimately it’s a song of redemption and healing — with a whistle note good enough to break glass.

“Dreaming with a Broken Heart,” John Mayer

Mayer’s sweet piano ballad is a masterful ode to the broken-hearted. “Is she standing in my room? No she’s not, cause she’s gone, gone, gone, gone,” he sighs. At least his warm, soothing voice is right there with you.

“Fireworks,” First Aid Kit

“Why do I do this to myself?” croon the Swedish folk-singing sisters of First Aid Kit. “Every time, I know the way it ends.” Their song is a lullaby and a balm: we may not learn from our mistakes, but at least we’re not alone in making them.

“Act III: The Reason,” Dennis Lloyd

Don’t blame yourself for what went wrong. In fact, suggests Israeli singer-songwriter Dennis Lloyd, feel free to put it all on the other person. “Act III: The Reason” has an unbeatable, just-dark-enough electro-pop beat and a refrain that bears repeating once you’ve washed your hands of someone who’s done you wrong: “I’m not the reason that you walk away / baby I’m not / I’m not the reason / take all your bags and get the hell away / baby I’m not the reason.”

“Green Light,” Lorde

Lorde balances anger and confidence in equal measure on “Green Light,” an exuberant dance anthem that comes out of a dark place. She’s mad, but she’s over it, just waiting for her spirit to catch up with her mind. “Did it frighten you / How we kissed when we danced on the light up floor?” she taunts her ex. Lesson learned: if you can’t keep up with Lorde, don’t even try to date her.

“Since U Been Gone,” Kelly Clarkson

Clarkson’s classic pop-rock breakup jam is the ultimate I’m-over-it-now singalong song. If you haven’t rocked out to the chorus at full volume at least once in your life, well, you’ve probably never had your heart broken and made it to the other side.

“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” Taylor Swift

Swift knows a thing or two about moving on. In this 2012 Red album classic, she channels her relatable experiences into the talk-singing that made it a hit. Shout it from the mountaintops along with her: “You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me, but we / are never ever ever getting back together.”

“Hit ‘Em Up Style (Oops!),” Blu Cantrell

R&B singer Blu Cantrell takes no prisoners on her memorable 2009 jam “Hit ‘Em Up Style.” It’s as good of an after-breakup playbook as any — if your situation suggests it’s time to get even, instead of getting sad (or mad). “There goes the love we had, but you cheated on me, and that’s for that now,” she chants. “For all the lies you told, this is what you’re owed.” Payback hurts.

“New Rules,” Dua Lipa

“One, don’t pick up the phone / he’s only calling cause he’s drunk and alone.” On her breakout hit, Dua Lipa laid down the law about how to get over someone who is lingering in your life — even though you know it’s high time they hit the road. Listen, memorize and apply to your own life as needed.

“Survivor,” Destiny’s Child

It’s time to pick your head up. From the opening strains of “Survivor,” Destiny’s Child proves that they have made the enduring after-breakup-anthem that the world needs. Take it away, Beyoncé: “Now that you’re out of my life, I’m so much better / You thought that I’d be weak without you, but I’m stronger / You thought that I’d be broke without you, but I’m richer / You thought that I’d be sad without you, I laugh harder.” And repeat.

“Dancing On My Own,” Robyn

“Somebody said you got a new friend. Does she love you better than I can?” iconic Swedish pop singer Robyn wants to know. But follow Robyn’s advice: dance all night. Dance on your own. Who needs anyone else, anyway? Love hurts, but dancing heals.

Amal Clooney Is Helping Meghan Markle Settle into London Life: They Have a ‘Natural Friendship’

she’s the new royal’s confidant.

“Meghan and Amal have known each other for a while [and share] many interests,” an insider tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue, on stands Friday.

The two were introduced by a mutual friend and got closer after the Suits star, 36, moved to the U.K.

“Amal has been helping Meghan settle into London life,” the source continues. “It was a very natural friendship from day one.”

Amal, 40, nearly stole the show when she arrived to Harry and Meghan’s May 19 nuptials at St. George’s Chapel, donning a yellow Stella McCartney midi dress and matching veiled fascinator. She and husband George, 57, have a home outside London and plan to spend the summer in Europe, with their Lake Como property in Italy acting as home base for the couple and their twins, who turn 1 year old on June 6.

“They are flying back and forth between the U.S. and Europe, but everything is set up at the Lake Como house,” a second source says. “They will spend as much time by the lake as they can. They always seem to love coming to the lake.”

The Clooneys at Meghan and Harry's wedding on May 19.

The summer will also be filled with work for the British human rights lawyer, who will be dedicated to over a dozen international cases, including her most recently acquired one for Reuters. She’ll be serving as international counsel for Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, two Reuters journalists who were detained and put on a politically-motivated trial in Myanmar for their reporting on crimes committed against Rohingyas by the Myanmar military.

Serena Williams Launches Debut Fashion Collection 'Inspired by Femininity and Strength'

from Nike to Puma to HSN — on clothing collections. But now, the tennis superstar is taking things into her own hands.

On Wednesday, Williams, 36, launched the first 12 pieces from her solo eponymous fashion collection, Serena, exclusively online at SerenaWilliams.com with prices ranging from $14.99 to $215. According to the Olympian, the line is “inspired by femininity and strength.”

“I absolutely love this collection because it represents all the facets of my life as an athlete, an entrepreneur, and now, a mother,” Williams said in a release. “We’re all on a journey that delights us with highs and challenges us with twists and turns, which shapes us into who we are and who we want to become. I’ve learned to embrace and celebrate this process of individual growth and dedicate this collection to all women who want to join me in showing the world our true selves.”

Williams’ process designing the pieces, which include dresses, denim, jackets and more, ended up being a much different experience than she has had in the past.

“This is more me. I’ve always designed for other people in different companies and you know limitations when you’re designing like, ‘Oh you can’t use this fabric,’ or ‘You can’t do this,'” the star told PEOPLE.

She added, “I’m bringing my fashion to vision, which I’ve always wanted to do since I’ve been to fashion school all those ages ago.”

Ultimately, Williams wanted to make sure each piece she created was versatile enough to work on women of all ages and sizes. One of her favorites in the line: her Levis-inspired denim (which will be dropping with the rest of the full collection later this summer!).

“I wanted to go back to that structured denim. When you look at everywhere the market is fluctuating with stretch denim. And I love it. Don’t get me wrong, I have all pairs,” Williams told us. “I just love how Levi’s how they have the best regular denim in the ’80s and the ’90s. That’s kind of what we were inspired by this collection.”

“We want to bring that back! It still make it functional that you can wear it. So it does have a little bit of give in it, but not as much so you can stretch it. But it fits! Like these jeans fit me like a glove.”

Riverdale's Camila Mendes on Being 'Done with Dieting': 'I'm Gonna Stick to This'

Although the 23-year-old Riverdale star had revealed on Instagram in October 2017 that she had previously battled eating disorders and “suffered symptoms,” her February statement about body positivity was big — and bold.

The star has long been honest about body image issues and how she’s portrayed in the media, even speaking out after her and co-star Lili Reinhart’s bodies were photoshopped to look thinner on recent covers of Cosmopolitan Philippines. She also posed completely makeup-free for PEOPLE’s 2018 Beautiful Issue, an experience she says made her feel “the most myself.”

However, even with her recent strides, Mendes admits to still having days when her self image is shaky. But now she’s prepared for them.

“I was really obsessed with dieting,” Mendes told PEOPLE at the recent launch of her partnership with John Frieda Hair Care. “I don’t know if it was psychological but [when I quit dieting] I felt like I was gaining weight. Just that fear of ‘oh my god I’m gaining weight now,’ but I’ve really made this promise to myself that I’m gonna stick to this.”

Mendes says it ultimately comes down to knowing what to do when a bad day comes, and who to talk to for help.

RELATED: See Emmy Rossum, Alicia Silverstone and More Stars Without a Stitch of Makeup

“I feel like I know I have enough friends who support me through those times, like I’ll call a friend and be like, ‘I really don’t feel good about what I ate today,’ and she’ll be like ‘Dude, it’s fine.’ ”

The star admits there’s a “fear of losing control when it comes to eating disorders,” but she’s learned to “let loose” with what she eats. “It’s fine to eat dessert when I want to eat dessert, because that will give me the peace of mind I need. I’ll know that if I ate chocolate cake, maybe I won’t the next day. I’ve learned to trust myself that I’m going to make healthy choices because I care about my health.”

Mendes also has certain celebrities she looks to for body image inspiration, like Ashley Graham — and especially Rihanna. “I’m so inspired by her lately. I think she’s like the most authentic celebrity out there, and so shamelessly herself.”

“I think we’re getting to that point where there are different types of beauty and we just need to understand that,” the star says, adding, “I know I eat healthy and I know I work out and I know I lead a healthy lifestyle. So why try to push myself to look a certain way because the fashion industry has told me that that’s the way you should look?”

But the things that make her feel the healthiest are actually the most simple. “The base is always getting eight hours of sleep. When I feel like I’ve slept good, and I wake up feeling refreshed I feel like I make better choices throughout the day. And staying hydrated. Honestly the simplest things make such a difference.”

And Mendes — who has over 8.7 million Instagram followers — has wisdom to share with her fans struggling with similar self-esteem issues.

“I think you need to understand that you’re being way harder on yourself than you should be,” the star advises. “Learn to let go. It’s so much easier said than done, and everybody has their own path.”

She also says reaching out to peers is “so important,” especially those who can relate to what you’re going through. “They’re going to be the ones to help you the most because they understand what that feels like.”

On Friday, the 42-year-old country star and Apple Music released the final installment of their four-part video series, previewing new music from Bentley’s upcoming album The Mountain while also highlighting heartwarming stories of how some of his fans have triumphed over adversity — which is a recurring theme on his new album.

In an exclusive preview of the final video, which is available to watch on Apple Music, the singer gave fans their first look at new song “Burning Man” (featuring tourmates Brothers Osborne) alongside the inspiring story of a fan who changed his life around after having a heart attack at the age of 25.

“I felt an immediate connection to the lyrics. The idea that we all are a little bit of everything… a little bit holy water and a little bit burning man… really resonated with me,” the “Woman, Amen” singer told PEOPLE.

“I’ve never heard a song communicated like this in country music before. I love Brothers Osborne both as musicians and people and I knew they would connect to the song like I did. Performing it with them is certainly a highlight in the show for me. We all can’t wait to hear the crowd singing along with us.”

Kevin Hart Says Dwayne Johnson's Jumanji Pranks Got 'Pretty Out of Control'

After the massive box office success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle last year, Kevin Hart has confirmed that a sequel is in the works.

“We are absolutely, positively making the movie,” he told PEOPLE at Rally Health’s Rally on the Road event in New York City on Thursday. “It’s just a timeframe of when we are doing it that we are working out now.”

Hart, 38, starred in the reboot of the 1995 board game adventure comedy alongside Dwayne Johnson, Nick Jonas, Jack Black and Karen Gillan

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle earned an impressive $959 million worldwide.

One thing he would change about the upcoming sequel? The filming location — because of Johnson’s constant pranks.

Jumanji

“He was pretty out of control when we were in Hawaii shooting because he knows I don’t like insects. He would plant fake spiders and snakes around me to scare me. I didn’t like that at all,” he said. “Hopefully we green screen all of Jumanji 2.”

Happy Halloween @kevinhart4real! ???? You can see the big fake furry spider ????I have in my right hand that I throw on Kevin before our take. You gotta understand that when we're asked to lay down in these jungles - when you look closely on the ground - it's literally moving with all kinds of bugs, spiders and centipedes. It's Kev's worst nightmare and some of the funniest shit I've seen when he thinks something is crawling on him. Non stop laughs with my guy on this movie. We always make it fun. ???????????? #OnSet #Jumanji #OnLocation #Hawaii #CasuallyLayingOnCentipedes

But regardless of any onset jokes, the comedian said he was excited about the opportunity to work alongside his close friend once again.

“We do great work together. That chemistry isn’t forced, it’s real,” he said. “When you have an opportunity to continue and keep it going you step up to the plate.”

A Cop Pulled Over James Corden and Adam Levine During Carpool Karaoke to Hear Them Sing

In the latest installment of the popular segment, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine joined host James Corden to drive around in a car, singing some of his band’s greatest hits like “Moves Like Jagger” and “This Love.” The bit was proceeding as normal, with Corden pulling over to watch Levine balance random objects on his face and heading to a race track for a high-speed trivia session. While fans of Carpool Karaoke know that surprise guests are a standard feature, no one — not even Corden — was expecting the police to show up.

While Corden and Levine were chatting and singing, a police officer pulled up alongside them, saying, “I need you to pull you over so you can sing for me.”

“You want to pull over so he can sing a song for you?” Corden asked, incredulously, seeming thinking it might be a stunt.

“Yes, because you caused a traffic hazard,” the officer said, seemingly referring to the fact that people on the road will stop and stare when Corden and Adam Levine and a few cameras are driving around singing Maroon 5 songs. The officer told Corden to “just be careful” on the road next time and left.

While both Levine and Corden managed to keep smiles on their faces during the encounter, the second the officer pulled away, Corden lost his cool. “I don’t know what quite happened there, I completely panicked,” he told Levine. “I panicked in my absolute core.”

For those who think the traffic stop was faked, Corden tweeted Friday morning that it was “completely real.”

The newly released book jacket portrait of the author, whose first book, the 2012 American Grown focused on her White House kitchen garden and nutrition initiatives as first lady, was taken by celebrity portrait photographer Miller Mobley, who previously gave PEOPLE an exclusive preview from one of his shoots with Obama, 54.

Obama herself selected the photo for her book cover from the shoot with Mobley.

In the days before her book cover reveal, Obama posted on Instagram four never-before-seen family photographs that “illustrate moments in her personal journey of becoming the woman she is today,” according to a press release from her office.

One photo showed Obama as a little girl growing up on the South Side of Chicago with parents Marian and Fraser Robinson. Other previous posts included a picture encompassing her experience as a first-generation, black college student at “white and well-to-do” Princeton University, and a sweet throwback from her wedding day with husband Barack Obama.

The former first lady announced the title and release date for her book in a February statement to PEOPLE.

“Writing Becoming has been a deeply personal experience,” Obama said at the time. “It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life … how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others.”

Chris Hemsworth Passionately Performs Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball'

Are Chris Hemsworth and his three kids vying for roles as backup dancers in Miley Cyrus‘ next tour?

In a new video, the Thor star and his children — daughter India Rose, 6, and twin sons Tristan and Sasha, 4 — had some fun dancing and lip syncing to “Wrecking Ball,” the 2013 hit by his brother Liam Hemsworth‘s fiancée.

The 34-year-old actor dramatically acted out the lyrics to the song along with his pajama-clad little ones in the clip. His antics excited his pooch, who pounced on Chris as he rolled around on the ground — but the star never stopped performing.

“What started as a ground breaking music video ended in a savage attack by a cowardly K9. Never work with Kids or Animals,” Chris captioned the post on social media, tagging his brother and Cyrus.

Cyrus, 25, also shared the video, responding to Chris with three heart emojis.

Although the elder Hemsworth brother shot down speculation that the couple tied the knot over the holidays during an interview with SiriusXM earlier this year, Chris said that he gets along well with Cyrus. However, it’s no surprise that he’s the one doing the performing — he shared that the singer routinely leaves her superstar persona at home.

“I always just expected her to put on a show and bang a few songs out but she never does,” he said with a laugh. “I’m insisting constantly. I’m like, ‘When’s the performance coming?’ But she’s just a lot of fun.”

The actor explained that when Pataky is scolding their kids in Spanish, Hemsworth has to “pretend” that he knows exactly what’s going on.

“My wife will be telling them off and I’ll be standing there like, ‘That’s right!’ ” he said, revealing that he usually ends up muttering to Pataky, ” ‘What does that mean?’ ”

On Wednesday, the 49-year-old actor — who began his career as a rapper under the name The Fresh Prince — dropped a video that teased “new music” was “coming soon,” along with a sample track called “To the Clique.”

In the tune, Smith is as confident as ever about his 25-plus years of success in the entertainment industry and the strength of his marriage, despite tabloid speculation that he and Pinkett Smith might be heading for splitsville.

“Stop the divorce rumors and mind your damn business,” he sings, later boasting about the strength of their family (including kids Trey, 25, Jaden, 19, and Willow, 17). “The real-life Incredibles, last name Smith. Jada, Jaden, Willow, Trey — y’all ain’t f—ing with my clique.”

Victoria Beckham Reveals the Royal Wedding Was 'the Best Day'

Victoria Beckham knows fashion better than anyone and was a royal wedding guest, so it’s only fitting that she would have an opinion on Meghan Markle‘s wedding dress.

The former Spice Girl opened up about the Duchess of Sussex’s custom Givenchy wedding gown during her nuptials to Prince Harry in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday.

While Beckham did not have the honor of designing Meghan’s gown (that went to Givenchy artistic director Clare Waight Keller), she did sit front row at the vows and said the new royal “looked absolutely beautiful.”

“It really suited her,” Beckham, 44, told the Evening Standard in an interview published Wednesday. “I thought it was perfect for her. And Harry looked great.”

Victoria Beckham

The mother of four also recalled what it was like sitting in St. George’s Chapel during the ceremony, saying it “was such a beautiful, incredible wedding.”

“It was just the best day. They looked so happy, and everybody was just so happy for them,” she continued. “Meghan seems like a genuinely lovely woman, who really loves him. It felt very real, very honest.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

The last time Beckham was at a royal wedding was in 2011 at the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton. At the time, she was seven months pregnant with her and David Beckham‘s daughter, Harper.

On Saturday, royal watchers and fans alike saw the Beckhams arrive in style, with Posh Spice wearing a navy dress from her own 2019 collection that was a similar color to what she wore in 2011.

“Quite honestly, it was such a relief not to be hugely pregnant at this royal wedding that it was a joy to be able to choose anything I wanted to wear,” she told the outlet, laughing. “I love a bit of navy. The dress is one of my favorites: it isn’t in store until November, but we’ve had so many inquiries about it that I’m seeing whether I can bring it forward.”
