Dimebag Darrell’s Grave Reportedly Vandalized with Homophobic Slur

By Ezra Marcus

Late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell’s grave was reportedly vandalized over the weekend with a homophobic slur.

An Instagram affiliated with an Indiana band called Nuclear Hellfrost has taken credit for the act, with a photo of the grave and a fairly explicit caption, which has since been deleted.

“I HATE pantera…with a passion. and so does the rest of my band,” the band wrote. “so on tour going through texas we paid douchebag darrell a visit, we spit on his grave, stole a pair of cowboy boots, and i wrote ‘F–’ on his grave… in not a homophobe but i hope the panturrrra fans see this and s— themselves with anger…F— DIMEBAG, buncha racist hillbillies.”

Pantera’s Facebook page shared a screengrab of the Instagram post, adding their own comment.

“We are absolutely disgusted by this!” Pantera wrote. “We ask that all of you please show Dime & his grave the respect he deserves. This conduct will not be tolerated and the authorities have been notified.”

Nuclear Hellfrost responded on their Facebook page by blaming the act on a disgruntled former member.

“The posts about us and to us are a complete surprise to us,” they said. “Anything having to do with grave desecration was entirely a hoax put on by our former lead singer completely disconnected from the other members of the band. If you see Dimebag’s grave you can see there is nothing carved into his grave, the only thing that exists is a photo of a piece of paper posted by the former member. We are strongly against any sort of homophobia, racism, or outright disrespect for a human being.”

Dimebag Darrell died in 2004 after being shot and killed by a gunman while performing in Columbus, Ohio.
