Rivers Cuomo gives update on Weezer’s ‘Black Album’
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has given fans an update on the progress of the ‘Black Album’, confirming that it will come out next year.
Fans of the band were expecting the darker-sounding ‘Black Album’ to follow 2016’s acclaimed ‘White Album’ – but, the band instead followed up the ‘White Album’ with the surprise release of the pop-leaning ‘Pacific Daydream’, their eleventh studio album, which arrived yesterday (October 27).
After Cuomo told NME that ‘Pacific Daydream’ came before the ‘Black Album’ as “the ‘Pacific Daydream’ folder [of songs] filled up first”, Cuomo has now voiced his hope that the next Weezer record will come out in May 2018.
“‘Pacific Daydream’ inserted itself in front of the ‘Black Album’,” he told Dazed. “‘The Black Album’ is almost done, and hopefully it comes out in May but this one got finished first and it’s good, so we brought it out.
“I like putting out music and I don’t like waiting around,” he continued about the band’s recent prolific streak of album releases. “I think I want to pick up the pace, actually.
“The slow part is finding the right producer, because that kind of locks you into a certain production sound and that’s a contentious part. Everyone has their idea of what Weezer should sound like. But the songwriting part is fun and easier.”
Cuomo also recently spoke to NME about his friendship with Post Malone – who held on to the top spot in the UK singles chart for the fourth week running yesterday with his 21 Savage-featuring track ‘Rockstar’.

Stranger Things 2: seven huge questions we’re left with
Spoilers follow for the entirety of Stranger Things 2.
Adweek GIFs – Find & Share on GIPHY
The best GIFs in advertising.
Stranger Things 2 is now out in the world, arriving on Friday (October 27) to answer many of the questions posed by the first season’s ending. That said, it’s also given us a whole lot more to mull over: if you’ve already binged the whole season, here are the questions you’ll be desperate for answers to.
1. Are Hopper and Dustin ‘infected’?
When Hopper descended into the tunnel network beneath the pumpkin fields, he was sprayed by a nasty-looking vine substance, which he inhaled. After breathing it in, he was taken to the Hawkins lab, where he coughed up a nasty looking goo.
Dustin inhaled some of his own in the final episode – when he went with the kids and Steve to light a huge fire in the tunnels – and because the nine episodes of Stranger Things 2 took place over only a few days, there could be lasting effects from this gruesome substance that we have yet to see.
2. Will we see Eight again?
The arrival of Kali (aka Eight) in the first episode of Stranger Things 2 was a huge shock, and her power – the ability to cast illusions – gave us some unforgettable scenes later on in the series. But it’s uncertain whether or not we’ll see her again after Eleven left her and her gang in Pittsburg in the middle of a police chase.
Kali’s main drive appears to be to track down and kill those responsible for her abduction and experience as a test subject in the Hawkins lab. In this sense, her character seems to serve mainly as a counterpoint to Eleven – the latter values friendship and family, rather than revenge – but we still might see Kali return to Hawkins in Stranger Things season 3.

3. Are there other test subjects like Kali (Eight) and Jane (Eleven)?
The original Stranger Things said nothing of the test subjects prior to Eleven, suggesting to viewers that they may not have survived their experience at Hawkins lab. The introduction of a second living test subject inevitably raises the question of whether other gifted test subjects escaped – and if they did, where are they, and what are they capable of?
4. Is the shadow monster still around?
After Eleven banished the shadow monster to the Upside Down and closed the gate in the process, it seemed like that chapter of Hawkins history was finally over. But the final shot of the season showed the shadow monster hulking above the Upside-Down version of Hawkins’ middle school – suggesting it’s not finished yet. Will it be the main antagonist of season 3, too, or will we see its power grow into something even more menacing?
David Harbour as Chief Hopper in Netflix’s Stranger Things
5. What will happen to Hawkins lab now?
Hawkins lab has finally been shut down: we saw its furious staff being forced to leave in the final episode of Stranger Things 2. Dr. Owens (Paul Reiser) still seems to be in town, though – we saw him give Eleven’s falsified birth certificate to Chief Hopper. It looks like he’ll still be in the picture for season 3, but what will happen to the lab building itself, underneath which the gate to the Upside Down had grown to a gargantuan size? And what will become of the projects the lab was working on?
6. Is Dr. Brenner still alive?
Dr. Brenner – or ‘Papa’ as Eleven calls him – was attacked by the Demagorgon in the final episode of Stranger Things‘ first season and hasn’t been since, except in one of Kali’s illusions. Though this was a trick, Kali suggested to Eleven that he is still alive, and Eleven hasn’t yet tried to look for him in the ‘void’ in the same way that she did with Kali, her mother, and Mike. If he is alive – what is he planning?
Noah Schnapp as Will Byers in Netflix’s Stranger Things
7. Is Will finally ok?
Will has been through a lot in the past two seasons of Stranger Things. First, he was abducted by a monster from another dimension; after being rescued he became infected by an evil hivemind and was physically tortured until it let him go. Has it finally lost its grip on him? Or does the final scene of Stranger Things 2 suggest the Mind Flayer is still after him?

The ‘Stranger Things’ kids had a ball at their season two premiere last night
It’s back! Stranger Things season two is now available to stream on Netflix and we, like you, could not be more excited to see the return of the sci-fi show set in 1984. When we hung out with the kids who’ve captured the world’s imagination with the show’s combination of Stephen King-style frights and Steven Spielberg levels of warmth and wonder, they told us that they’ve found the response – critical acclaim, a million memes – somewhat overwhelming. Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, emphasized the importance of keeping one’s feet on the ground: “We’re kids,” he said. “We can’t grow up too fast. We gotta remember how old we are and where we come from, so our heads don’t get bigger than our bodies.” Sage advice, though you’ll forgive the cast for letting their hair down at the series premiere in Los Angeles last night…

Justice League heroes fly into action in latest trailer
The latest look at Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s DC superhero team-up sends Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) into battle against the horned villain Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) and his army of parademons.
The coalition of heroes, formed in the aftermath of the destruction wrought in last year’s Batman v Superman, will have to figure out how to work together quickly in order to save the world.
“Part of the drama of the movie is the question of whether or not the team is going to come together,” Affleck previously told EW. “It’s very different from the tenor of the last movie.”

Vin Diesel teases return of Justin Lin, Jordana Brewster to Fast & Furious
Amid ongoing drama in the Fast & Furious universe, the franchise’s star is teasing the return of two important Fast figures: Justin Lin and Jordana Brewster.
During a Facebook Live on Wednesday, Diesel revealed he’s working on something “top secret” involving the director and actress. Describing Lin, who directed the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth installments, as a “forefather” and “architect” of the series, he hinted that the filmmaker will be returning for what could be the final two films.
“‘The crowd goes wild,'” Diesel said upon revealing Lin’s presence. “‘It’s a three-point shot that made 9 and 10 incredible.’ You wanted 9 and 10 to be incredible. We’ve heard your concerns about the saga and where it needs to arrive in its final chapters.”
Then, Diesel unveiled that his onscreen sister Jordana Brewster was also there with them. The actress, who is one of the original Fast members, was absent from April’s Fate of the Furious. Her continued appearance in the franchise is tricky considering her character, Mia, is married to the late Paul Walker’s Brian. Yet, Diesel says, “You’re about to see [Brewster] in the upcoming chapters of the Fast universe.”
Universal didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.
The last few weeks in the world of the mega-franchise have been busy with a delayed Fast 9 release date, a Tyrese Instagram rant against Dwayne Johnson, the official announcement of a spin-off, a Tyrese Instagram rant against Dwayne Johnson, Diesel attempting to play peacekeeper, Johnson vaguely responding, and a Tyrese Instagram rant against Dwayne Johnson.

Arrow's David Ramsey previews Diggle's turn as Green Arrow
With pressure mounting from both FBI Agent Samanda Watson (Sydelle Noel) and his son William, Oliver (Stephen Amell) decidedly passed the torch of Star City’s savior to Diggle (David Ramsey). And while Diggle is happy to take on that new position, Oliver is unaware he’s accepting the job as the new Emerald Archer while secretly suffering from nerve damage as a result of the island explosion.
How will Diggle handle now being the leader of Team Arrow? EW sat down with Ramsey on set to get the scoop.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How does Diggle feel about Oliver turning over the mantle of Green Arrow to Diggle?
DAVID RAMSEY: Well, part of this beat has been tread before, right? It’s something that Diggle honors and takes very, very seriously, so much in fact that the physical deficiency that he has, he’s going to great lengths to hide it from the team and fulfill the call that’s been placed on him by Oliver. So he takes it very, very seriously. He’s quite honored by it and he takes it with pride.
How does he handle being a leader out in the field?
Again, this ugly head of this physical limitation really rears its head in the field and it becomes glaringly obvious to the team that he has a problem, so he has to hide, he has to conceal it, he has to make excuses. He hides it from everyone, which is very unlike Diggle. But even as we roll through this, because he wears this mantle for several episodes, he becomes the leader he was at the beginning of season 4. He becomes a very sound leader.
Were you surprised when you found out Diggle was going to be the new Green Arrow?
I found out from Marc [Guggenheim]. Marc and I had a nice conversation about it. He told me that and told me some other things he wants to do in the later part of the season. We talked for almost two hours on the phone. The things they plan on doing this season — and it’s always a slow burn because it’s 23 episodes, so there’s all these dips and valleys and all these places. Thank God for the fans because they have to hold on for 23 episodes, that’s a long road. So there are a lot of dips and a lot of valleys, but where they want to take their relationship — particularly between Oliver and Diggle — is just a great place.
Do you now have your own Green Arrow costume?
Yes, I do. There’s like three of them floating around, me, Stephen, and Colton Haynes, because Colton played him at one point. There are a few outfits. I tore through one of them. It was actually made for me and then I guess I went to the gym a few more times than they knew, and I tore through one of them. Then they made another one, and that’s the one I’m wearing now.
Is it the same costume Oliver had or are there changes?
I don’t think there’s changes. The bow changed a little bit, and you’ll see that at the beginning of the season, but the costume is the same. I don’t think anything has changed with the costume.
Do you think Diggle as Green Arrow is going to last?
No. No, it’s Green Arrow. Stephen Amell is Green Arrow. It’s not going to last. Of course not, but I think it’s very interesting and it’s an interesting twist on how it fits into the ultimate theme of the season, I think it’s very clever. I think it’s an interesting detour. It also gives us some time with Oliver. I think it’s great, and he has some great writing. Stuff is happening between him and Deathstroke, and he and his son and he and Felicity. It’s awesome. I think holding it for the few episodes I have the mantle, that’s the appropriate amount of time.
Diggle and Lyla were struggling at the end of the season. What’s next for them? How does she feel about him being Green Arrow?
The issue of trust is very serious between them, as it is with he and all the team members. I go back to this physical limitation that he suffered in the explosion on the island that really does affect his whole life — his life with the team, his life with Lyla — because he goes about making some choices that are not honest, and that also strikes a particular chord between he and Lyla because of how much he has ridiculed her position as the new Amanda Waller, and the issues of walking that very thin line of light and dark, and playing with morality and all this other stuff, particularly with someone like her, who has her finger on the Suicide Squad. He’s had some real questions about that. Now he’s not walking the talk, so to speak. So the issue of trust comes up in a real way between them and the first part of it is because of what’s happening with him in hiding a secret. The second part of it is the same 800-pound elephant that’s been in the room: The fact that he works as a vigilante and she’s the new Amanda Waller. What is that all about? That ground hasn’t been settled yet.
What does the team’s next face-off with Black Siren look like?
A couple of ways: It ain’t going to be just her. There’s always a group of bad guys. So it’s not going to be just her, so there’s that part of it. We always like bringing people up from the past; that’s a little nugget for you. So things will come back to bite us, so to speak. Black Siren is only part of that. I will say that in terms of how does it make it difficult for us? Because we love Laurel, because she is Laurel Lance to us, particularly to Oliver. I think Oliver’s journey has been one of understanding his own self-redemption, and he wants to redeem Laurel — the mistakes that he’s made with Laurel, to some degree, he thinks he can correct those through Black Siren.
Anything you can tease of what this group of villains is after?
Part of it, in terms of story, is taking our characters to another place. That’s the main thrust of it all. Why do you bring someone like Deathstroke back? Because it’s great sh— you can give to Stephen, because he takes our lead character to another place. The first reason is that it’s good stories, you get great stories by bringing these people back from the past and having some personal connection to our characters, and you get to take these lead characters someplace else. The second reason is, I think the audience has a connection to them because they’ve seen them before, they know their backstory, they know what they can do, they know that they’re a threat to our main characters. There’s great storytelling in bringing back these characters. To some degree, some of these characters are attached to some of the team members personally.
How do the flashbacks change this season? Will we see any Diggle-centric ones?
We’ve talked about that, particularly with Diggle. I don’t think you’ll see the flashbacks attached to the central story the way they were before. It’s like you’re talking about your best friend in the present and then all of a sudden you’re talking about your best friend five years ago on the island. I don’t think it will be quite as attached to the central A story. But you have eight more minutes or so of storytelling. You still will see some flashbacks, but we won’t be married to it the same. This is what I know from the previous scripts, and what the producers have told us all personally is that you won’t be married to these flashbacks the way you were before. We will find some things out about Diggle. We’ve already talked about his parents this year. Hopefully we’ll see his parents. I don’t know if in flashback or in present day. I think you’ll see some flashbacks for the other characters as well. We already have a few in one of the episodes.
Will the team really be cemented as a family this year?
Yeah, there’s still some growing pains. There’s still some trust issues. This is probably the season where they really — this will be the bonding season even more so than last season. We still have to work through some trust. There’s a reason why Diggle hides this secret from the team and that has to do with trust.
Anything you can tease about the team going up against Vigilante again this season?
There’s something really big happening with Vigilante, really big. There are some big things for Vigilante. It’s tough for me to talk about Vigilante at this point and not give some things away besides to say his revelation will be — there’s some real intimacy with the way he’s revealed. It’s really going to be deep to find out exactly what he’s all about.
How will Agent Watson be making Diggle’s job harder?
We haven’t played all of that out yet. We just did a great scene, she and I, where she calls me out to the carpet. She’s like, “Let’s talk. You’ve been with him six years, it’s time for us to talk.” We just so happen to run into each other. I say, “Hey, I have nothing to hide.” She will be formidable in how she makes trouble for the team.
Arrow airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.

Kristen Bell says a Veronica Mars miniseries 'is going to happen'
On Wednesday, her Mars costar Ryan Hansen was asked about a possible revival of the cult series during a Facebook Live interview with IndieWire, and he went straight to the source by calling Bell for some scoop.
“[Creator] Rob [Thomas] and I are sort of in constant contact about when we could do it again,” Bell said while noting that part of the issue is her day job on The Good Place. “There’s a lot of willingness and commitment to doing it again.”
Premiering in 2004, the UPN/CW series starred Bell at the titular protagonist, a high school student who moonlights as a private investigator. In 2014, seven years after the show wrapped its three-season run, a Veronica Mars movie was released. The film was funded through Kickstarter, a move Bell says they won’t replicate the next time around.
“Personally, and I think that Rob probably agrees, (A) we’ll never make the fans pay for it again, (B) the format works better in an episodic, where you get a little more of it,” she said. “So we want to do a miniseries. We are willing to put the effort in. I mean, if I have to do it as Murder, She Wrote at 80, we’re going to do it. It’s going to happen.”
Warner Bros. Television, which produced Veronica Mars, didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.

John Stamos talks playing Willy Wonka and trying to live up to Gene Wilder's legacy
The actor is stepping into Gene Wilder’s shoes for two nights, Nov. 3 and 4, as part of a special live-to-film concert presentation of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at the Hollywood Bowl.
Similar to The Little Mermaid event in 2016 (in which Stamos played Chef Louie), the film will play with live accompaniment from the multifaceted indie band Devotchka and a musical ensemble conducted by Jeff Hoeppner. At key moments, the cast will take to the stage to sing alongside the film.
The cast also includes Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard as Charlie, Giancarlo Esposito as the Candy Man, Richard Kind as Grandpa Joe, Elle King as Veruca Salt, Ingrid Michaelson as Mrs. Bucket, and “Weird Al” Yankovic as the Oompa Loompas.
EW chatted with Stamos about his involvement in the evening, what’s in store for audiences, and what it’s like to take on Wilder’s iconic portrayal of Willy Wonka — particularly when, in Stamos’ case, it’s your favorite film.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So we know you’ll be singing “Pure Imagination” during this live-to-film event, but can you talk a bit more about what to expect from the evening?
JOHN STAMOS: The whole night is an event, and people are going to come dressed up and there’s contests and different fun things like that, Smell-O-Rama. But the movie comes on and then when the particular songs come up that we’re going to be involved in, we come out and do the song with the movie. It kind of feels like the characters are sort of jumping out of the movie at that moment and performing.
You’ve done this once already, playing Chef Louie in The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl. Was there something about that experience that made you want to come back?
When we did Mermaid, it was just such a happy experience, and I could see the joy in kids and adults. The reason why I would jump on this again is because our country needs this. We need celebration and singing and laughing and forgetting about the news, even if it’s just for an hour or two. We need representation of maybe a simpler, more easy time, which was for me Willy Wonka, the first movie I ever saw. Discord is at an all-time high and decency at an all-time low, and as we try to fix things, it’s also nice to have a couple hours of escapism.
Is it intimidating to take on a role that is so fully associated with Gene Wilder and his performance?
The key to what I’m doing is that myself and the director, Richard Kraft, we were like, how do we do this and pay tribute? Certainly, [we] get out of the way of Gene Wilder. What we’re going to do is, I’m going to do it within the movie and then we’re actually going to play Gene Wilder. As an encore, we’re going to do Gene Wilder’s version of “Pure Imagination” because obviously it’s a pretty sacred tune and people want to see him do it as well. And I’m not doing an impression by any means, but I’m not straying too far from what he did in the movie in the staging of it all. I’m trying to find little moments in the show, which I think I found a few, that sort of represent what Gene Wilder was doing, which was you never know really when to trust him, when he’s telling the truth or when he’s lying.
What else is challenging about the role, and how are you preparing for it?
There’s different challenges because you have to sort of sing to the movie and to a click in your ear, and not necessarily how you’d sing it. The orchestra can’t follow you; you have to follow them to be perfectly in time with the movie. So that’s a little challenging, but being a drummer I’m used to hearing clicks in my ears a lot. [That’s] the first thing I always do with this because I’m not a great singer by any means — that’s not my forte — so I start that early on. Now I’m working on singing it with the click tracks. It’s hard. I don’t have to do his exact vocal per se, but I sort of have to sing it in the exact rhythm he sang it. And this song is in two or three different time signatures. I have it playing all the time. I have it on my phone, I have it in the car, and I’ve been on the road with the Beach Boys and they’ve been sort of helping me with it. That part is sort of scary, but then it’s also a little safe because you know you have to do it a certain way and it’s certainly going to work that way if I do it that way.
What’s been difficult, which I thought [would be easier], because I’m pretty good at physical comedy and I like that world — do you remember when he first appears and he sort of looks out and the cane gets stuck and then he does this forward fall? I’m working on that, and that’s frightening. It’s just pushing the limits to what you feel is safe. It’s weird, you have to get as close as you can to the ground to really kind of make it work. I think I’ll be okay. I hope.
What kind of costume can we expect from you? A purple coat? A wig?
I’m not wearing a wig. When we did The Little Mermaid, they were like, “Just wear a nice shirt, there’s no costumes.” And then all of a sudden, like on the first or second rehearsal, which was like a day before [the show], I saw these wigs coming through, these costumes coming through for Rebel [Wilson], for Sara [Bareilles]. I told my assistant, “Quick, go get me a big mustache and a beret!” So this time I’m ahead of it. I have a really interesting costume being made that’s kind of — my girlfriend’s into bounding, Disneybounding [wearing everyday clothes in color palettes and combinations that evoke Disney characters]. I’m sort of doing a bounding version of Willy Wonka.
You’ve played Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie. Any chance of another return to Broadway after doing these live-to-film performances? Maybe in the new Willy Wonka musical there?
I love that show [the Wonka musical]. I went to that one too in New York. I haven’t found anything that really calls to me. But I’ll tell you one thing: All that has really given me — and also doing Full House in front of a live audience and playing with the Beach Boys for 30-plus years — it gives me enough confidence at least to stand on that stage and begin. It hit me last night. What am I doing? I’m standing in front of 20,000 people singing “Pure Imagination?” What was I thinking? It’s scary, don’t you think?
You’re also working with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron developing a show for Amazon. Have they tried to convince you to join one of the live television musicals as your next step?
I’m trying to talk them into it! I was going to do something in Hairspray, but I was busy doing Scream Queens or something. There hasn’t been the right one for me. When they were doing Bye Bye Birdie, I threw my hat in for that. In fact, Neil and I flew up to Vegas to meet J-Lo and see her show and stuff. That would’ve been great.
And lastly, Wonka’s chocolates and candy inventions are a big part of the film. If you could have or eat one of the Wonka candies we see in the movie, which one would you want?
I was dying to know what that little teacup was that [Wonka] ends up eating at the end of [“Pure Imagination”], and I think we’re going to do that as well. So I’ll find out!

Watch Will Smith take on a new breed of bad guys in Netflix movie 'Bright'
In a fantasy world where orcs are marginalized citizens, cops are talking down medieval sword-wielding crazies, and elves are shooting up convenient stores, a magic wand is a weapon of mass destruction…that can also grant wishes.
Written by Max Landis (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) and directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad), Bright‘s concept is reminiscent of 1988’s Alien Nation. Instead of discrimination between humans and extra-terrestrials, there’s a lavish world of magic and fantastical beasts — and all the slow-mo car crashes, special effects, and strip club gun fights that go with that.
Ward (Smith) and his new partner, Jakoby (Edgerton), the first orc to become a cop in this alternate-reality Los Angeles, go out on a routine mission that goes south. They run into an elf (Noomi Rapace) with a magic wand, and not the fun Harry Potter kind, either. If you do a swish and flick with this, you’ll unleash what’s essentially a “nuclear weapon that grants wishes.”
Also, there’s Edgar Ramirez as a long-locked elf police chief.
Underneath this world-ending plot is racial tensions between orcs and humans. “Are you a cop first or an orc first,” Ward tells his partner. Smith unpacked this subject more during the film’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. “[Joel’s] character is the first orc on the team, and I’m an African-American police officer who just found somebody else to be racist against,” he said. “You never get to be on that side of racism when you’re black. ‘Look, man, I don’t want no orcs in my car!’”

How to carve a popstar pumpkin
You will need:
- 1 x pumpkin
- 1 x small, sharp kitchen knife
- 1 x marker pen
- 1 x ballpoint pen
- 1 x spoon
- The internet
- Access to a printer
- Decide who you want on your pumpkin. People with super-sharp facial features work best. Find a picture of this person that has loads of light and shade, as the contrast between the two will help you see which areas to cut out.
- Print your chosen picture in black and white. Stick it onto the smoothest side of your pumpkin with tape.
- Using a ballpoint pen, trace over the outlines of the facial features and around the edges of the dark areas. Remove the printout. You should still be able to see the lines imprinted on the pumpkin skin. Go over them with the pen.
- You will be cutting out the lightest parts of the image, and leaving the pumpkin skin in place for the dark parts. To make it easier to see which bits you need to cut, color in all the light areas with a marker pen.
- Cut a lid in your pumpkin. Using a spoon or your hands, remove the seeds and all the pulp.

Rock and roll icon Fats Domino dies at 89
Fats Domino has passed away at the age of 89, according to local reports.
The US singer is known as a pioneer of rock and roll, influencing the likes of Elvis Presley, The Beatles and more.
Local TV station WWL-TV has reported the news of his death, citing confirmation from Domino’s daughter, who said that the musician died peacefully surrounded by family in New Orleans.
Mark Bone, chief investigator with Louisiana’s Jefferson Parish coroner’s office, confirmed to the Associated Press that Domino died on Tuesday (October 24).
Fats Domino
Domino is known for his hits ‘Ain’t That a Shame’, ‘Blueberry Hill’ and ‘I’m Walkin’. He scored 11 top 10 hits in the US between 1955 and 1960 and sold over 65 million records over the course of his career, more than any other ’50s-era artist other than Elvis. In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Stranger Things: Spotify releases special feature celebrating season 2
The music streaming service just launched an Easter egg to celebrate the mounting hype for season 2 of the Netflix show. The feature transforms the user’s screen after a few idle seconds of listening to either season of the Stranger Things official soundtrack. The screen will go dark, only providing light from the song progress bar, which will now function as a flashlight. In the bottom corners rest some sort of spooky vine. The screen is also a bit hazier than usual, with floating particles gliding across the user interface.
Don’t worry — if the sensation of being in the Upside Down becomes a little too real, all you need to do is move the mouse and your screen will go back to normal. But beware, if you stay idle for a few more seconds, Spotify’s new feature will kick right back in. After all, can you truly ever escape the Upside Down?
Try it out for yourself, but be prepared to show your colleagues the cool new trick. Stranger Things 2 will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix on Oct. 27.

Gorillaz confirmed as first headliner for Open’Er 2018
Festival season for next summer continues to take shape, with Gorillaz confirmed to headline Open’er 2018.
One of Europe’s greatest festivals, Open’er will be returning with huge names and beach-break vibes for 2018. Set in a vast airfield site with its big wheel, fashion shows and on-site museum, Poland’s Open’er will be returning in 2018 to invite huge international names to party through the night and well into the early hours.
After last year’s festival saw stellar performances from the likes of Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Lorde, The xx and many more, next year will see Gorillaz bring their acclaimed ‘Humanz’ world tour to Open’er.
Open’er 2018 will take place from July 4-8 at Gdynia in Poland. For tickets and more information, visit here.
While the band are currently on a world tour in support of their acclaimed 2017 album ‘Humanz‘, frontman Damon Albarn is already planning out their next record – and says it could well be a surprise release. In December 2010, Gorillaz fourth album ‘The Fall‘ was released with just five days notice as a free download. Now, it looks like they could catch their fans off guard once again.
“I really like the idea of making new music and playing it live almost simultaneously,” said Albarn. “It will be a more complete record than ‘The Fall’, but hopefully have that spontaneity.

Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have a glamorous reunion at the InStyle Awards
— which saw Selena Gomez affectionately commenting on Demi Lovato’s post previewing her new documentary — the two pop stars have physically reunited.
Monday night, each walked the red carpet at the 2017 InStyle Awards and took a moment to pose together. (Gomez was in attendance to present an award, Lovato was present to accept the Advocate Award.)
A post shared by Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) on Oct 23, 2017 at 11:10pm PDT
Gomez and Lovato first met on Barney and Friends when both were just 7 years old. They’d go on to become Disney channel peers and, of course, vlogging BFFs by 2008. In 2009, they starred in Princess Protection Program in, the same year they released their anthemic duet “One And the Same.”
Things have clearly turned back around, however. After Gomez received a kidney transplant this year, Lovato raved to PEOPLE about her friend. “I think that she is a very strong woman,” she said. “I’m very happy and proud of her.”

Master of None's Lena Waithe isn't done making history
To read more from EW’s Untold Stories issue, pick up the new Entertainment Weekly, or buy it here. Don’t forget to subscribe for more exclusive interviews and photos, only in EW.
“Thanksgiving,” 33-year-old writer and actor Lena Waithe wants you to know this is only the beginning.
“I plan on being here a long time,” she tells EW. “I plan on building a brand and building a legacy that others can follow and come and tell their stories.”
It’s been just over a month since Aziz Ansari and Waithe, or as she described them in her acceptance speech, “a little Indian boy from South Carolina and a little queer black girl from the South Side of Chicago,” made history with their win for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Becoming the first African-American woman to win in the category, Waithe gave a rousing speech aimed at the LGBTQIA community. “I see each and every one of you,” she declared. “The things that make us different, those are our superpowers. Every day when you walk out the door, put on your imaginary cape and go out there and conquer the world because the world would not be as beautiful as it is without us in it.”
“I knew it was bigger than me,” she says of the victory, which was for an episode based on her own coming-out experience. “I was telling a story of what it means to be a queer person and I thought it was important to really shed light on us. Because when someone acknowledges one of us, they acknowledge all of us. The big thing for me was to celebrate and say that the things that make us different are our superpowers. It does make us stand out — we’re not less than, it almost makes us cooler than. We’ve got to use these things to propel us rather than hold us back.”
That night, Donald Glover, Sterling K. Brown, and Riz Ahmed joined Waithe and Ansari in taking home Emmys, marking an important step for diversity in television. Post-show, Waithe got to celebrate with her fellow winners, which meant being picked up and twirled around by Brown. “We’re all fans of each other,” she shares. “There’s a real genuine love and respect.”
The admiration was apparent in the internet’s favorite moment of the evening: A photo on Ahmed’s Instagram of The Night Of star, Waithe, Glover, and his brother Stephen (who’s also an Atlanta writer, pictured holding one of his sibling’s two trophies earned that night), captioned, “We’re here.” It’s a message that Waithe calls “poignant,” joking that she’s going to get a tattoo of it. “I like to call us the resurgence,” she says with a smile. “It’s more than a moment. We’re here, we’re going to stay here, and we’re always going to be here.”
She’s clearly not going anywhere anytime soon. In addition to possible future Master duties (she doesn’t know if there will be a third season), the writer-turned-actor, whose diverse résumé includes working as a writer on Bones and as a PA for Ava DuVernay, more than has her plate full with a role in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One and returning to her hometown for her very own series.
“I never thought I’d write about the city, but I just got to a place in my life where I think it was so misunderstood,” she says of Showtime’s The Chi, which premieres Jan. 7. “It’s a different side of my voice, about being black and human and trying to survive and have a dream. It’s raw. It’s real. I’m not sugar-coating. It’s not, ‘Let’s show black people in Chicago in a positive light.’ It’s, ‘I want to show people in a human light.’”
Despite her onscreen Master success as Dev’s (Aziz Ansari) childhood friend and conscience Denise, Waithe is staying behind the camera on The Chi, serving as writer and producer. And if she has anything to say about it, that’s most likely where you will find her in the future. “The acting opportunities have to be extremely special, because writing is my first love,” shares Waithe. “I was born a television writer, I’ll die a television writer.”

New Politics singer David Boyd was a zombie on The Walking Dead
Apparently, for The Walking Dead star Christian Serratos and New Politics singer David Boyd, it involves zombification and then zombie-slaying.
We found this out when we asked Serratos — who plays Rosita on the show — about her favorite zombie kill ever, and she revealed that her boyfriend (and father of her daughter) was involved. “David was actually a walker,” says Serratos, laughing. “It’s funny because he looks like a f—ing walker. I think that’s how [director, EP, and zombie guru Greg Nicotero] and I started talking about it initially. He has just the perfect face for the walker makeup. Like, there are very specific requirements to be a walker, and David had all those requirements, so yeah, he was a walker.”
But wait, it gets better. “I was like, well if we’re going to have him on the show, I need to kill him,” says Serratos. “So he was a walker in the episode with me and Sonequa, and I killed him.”
The episode she’s referring to is season 7’s “The Other Side” in which Rosita and Sasha put their past Abraham awkwardness aside to join forces on a mission to try to take out Negan. So which walker was David Boyd and how did the kill go down? “It was as we were talking about how we were going to bust into the compound,” says Serratos. “And we were arguing with each other and I’m trying to jumpstart a car and we’re walking down this hill. Two walkers come at us, and he’s my walker.” (See photo above.)
Serratos stabbed her zombified beau in the head with ease, but luckily, her rock star partner did not take it too hard. “We got some really adorable photos after that scene,” says Serratos. “He was really great and I was glad that I was the one to do it.”
Love, Walking Dead style.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.

Legends of Tomorrow's Tala Ashe previews new addition to team
During Tuesday’s episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Tala Ashe makes her debut as Zari Adrianna Tomaz, a Muslim-American hacker from the future who is being hunting by our new baddie, Kuasa (Tracy Ifeachor).
The DC Comics character will end up joining the team, much to her own consternation. Hailing from a dystopian future, Zari is not at all impressed with the Legends fixing anachronisms and instead wants them to actually fix time for the better, even if she has to hack it herself. Why is Kuasa hunting her? Could it have to do with the totem Zari has been spotted wearing? EW sat down with Ashe on set to get the scoop.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Tell us about Zari and who she is as a person.
TALA ASHE: So Zari’s from the future. She’s from 2042 and she has had a very challenging life at the point when we meet her. She’s living in a sort of dystopian world and basically has her family, and feels like she needs to protect her family, and is really defensive of her family, so she’s not an obvious choice to join the Legends in a way, and to be part of a team. In the early episodes of Zari, you’re going to see that she’s for fighting the narrative of being a superhero, but also being part of a team and trusting people, because I think that’s something that has burned her in the past. Because of her upbringing, it’s not something that she easily adheres to. She is brilliant in that sense, and says what’s on her mind, and I think it’s quite funny. It’s a different tone to bring to the group of Legends. She shakes them up and I think challenges their mission.
The producers have mentioned before that she doesn’t just want the Legends to fix anachronisms, but fix time for the better.
Well, yeah, to improve time. We’re going to see instances of that where she’s a hacker, so I think she’s going to see if she can almost hack time. That’s going to create friction, and also challenge the Legends in an interesting way.
You’re playing a Muslim superhero in a very interesting era in America’s history right now.
I think it’s a worldwide narrative.
What kind of responsibility or pressure do you feel to really honor this role?
I mean, it’s an immense pressure that I gladly take on. Any time I’m playing any character, really, but especially if it’s a marginalized character, or a character that’s often portrayed in a stereotypical way, I feel that way even more so. Because of my own background, I very much want to portray this character sensitively and accurately, and with an eye on what the narrative is worldwide, certainly in America, but also worldwide right now around Muslims and Islam. It’s really important, and really wonderful, that Legends has taken on the task of showing this woman; I also think what’s really cool about Zari is that she’s not like any other Muslim American that you’ve seen on TV, or that I’ve seen on TV, and I think she’s going to subvert expectations in a cool way. Marc [Guggenheim] and Phil [Klemmer] spoke to this more eloquently than I will, but they said that not only is it sort of a function of the show to bring new characters and shake things up, but also because of the climate, and because of our recent election, I think it was a great opportunity to bring this character into the world right now.
What’s been the best part about suiting up as a superhero? Because you’re just getting into your costume, right?
Yeah, I am, and we’re still sort of actually figuring it out, where Zari’s look and Zari’s identity as a superhero is something that we’re navigating. Again, she fights the superhero narrative. She’s fighting all of it a little bit, and also fascinated because time travel is new to her. Yeah, it’s also very cool to her.
What can you tease of your dynamic with the members of the team? Is there anybody she gravitates more toward?
Well, I think that she and Ray sort of have a similar tech background, so there’s a little bit of overlay there, but very different perspectives on the world, so there’s going to be some friction there. She’s also going to bond with Amaya. There’s a larger thing that’s bringing us together, the two of us, on some journey that I don’t even quite know where we’re headed.
Is there anything you can tease of why Kuasa is hunting Zari?
Actually, what I can tease is that it’s a mystery. It’s something that I think is going to shake out through also Amaya’s relationship with Kuasa, so it’s something that I don’t actually quite know. There’s actually a lot of, “Why are these people after me?” in the first few episodes for Zari, but then something happens in the first episode that Zari appears where it gives her the impetus to join the Legends, and she has her own sort of mission in mind, but there is enough of an incentive to leave 2042 at that point.
We know Zari’s a hacker, but what can you tease of her powers?
She does have powers. What I will say, actually, is that she’s learning her powers, so she has this power that she’s a little bit ambivalent about, and I think the journey of this for Zari is also going to be about her owning the power, and owning being a superhero, and also figuring out how to harness that power.
Zari has been spotted wearing a totem. What can you tease of what’s going on there?
It has lots of powers in it. The totem is something that she associates with the great power it has and also with her family. It is a kind of — I don’t know if heirloom is quite the right word, but it’s something that is in her family, so taking it on also entails carrying that torch for her family, which is tricky and I think she feels sort of not worthy in certain ways and maybe not even capable of carrying that amulet forward for her family.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.

Anna Faris says she and Chris Pratt are 'great friends and always will be'
“We’re great friends and always will be,” Faris, who has a 5-year-old son with Pratt, said on Live With Kelly and Ryan Monday morning.
Faris and Pratt announced their separation this past August after six years of marriage. Prior to this, Faris had revealed that Pratt was writing the foreword to her upcoming book Unqualified, which Faris is currently promoting.
“It was so kind of him to do that,” Faris said Monday. “We’re great, and he’s amazing.”
She repeated that sentiment in a New York Times story that also came out Monday, where Faris admitted to some pre-release nerves. “At first, I was really nervous about the idea of the book coming out and coinciding with these major life changes we were having,” she said, “but Chris is amazing.”
Also in the Times interview, she clarified their breakup isn’t as juicy as people might expect of a high-profile couple: “The story is kind of dull,” she said. “It’s a little bit like, two incredibly busy people that care a lot for each other got really busy.”

Ryan Hansen solves crimes on television in the new red-band trailer for, well, Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television
In the vein of The Office and Parks and Rec, and maybe a little bit Angie Tribeca, YouTube Red’s new comedy starring Ryan Hansen is offering up a ton of laughs at the expense of the LAPD and Hollywood stars. The show within a show, Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television is star-studded, hilarious, and also a little bit gory since we’re dealing with murder and all.
The Veronica Mars alum stars as himself in this show about a show alongside the Emmy-nominated Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black) as the no-nonsense LAPD homicide detective who he’s paired up with to help solve crimes in Los Angeles. And with it, he’s revealing some of Hollywood stars’ biggest secrets — now we really know what Kristen Bell thinks of Frozen.
And though YouTube Red (not a porn site, as Hansen keeps reminding us) is gearing up to release Ryan Hansen, one show is overwhelming the TV circuit this Halloween, and Ryan Hansen shared a little nod to everyone’s favorite sci-fi/mystery/nostalgia show, Stranger Things:

Evanescence unveil emotional video for new single ‘Imperfection’
Evanescence have unveiled the fittingly dramatic new video for their latest single ‘Imperfection’. See it first on NME below.
The track is the lead single and one of the new songs from album ‘Synthesis’ – a reworking of some of the band’s best-loved tracks performed with a full orchestra and electronic elements. ‘Imperfection’, is an emotional moment dealing with suicide and depression.
“For me, this is the most important song on the album,” singer Amy Lee said of ‘Imperfection’. “I struggled with the lyrics for a long time because there was a lifetime of work to live up to and I wasn’t sure what to say or how to be good enough. When it finally started pouring out of me, it was undeniable. I had no choice.
“It’s for all the people we’ve lost, all the people who we could lose, to suicide and depression. I’m singing from the perspective of the person left behind, the person in the waiting room. It’s a plea to fight for your life, to stay. Don’t give into the fear- I have to tell myself that every day. Nobody is perfect. We are all imperfect, and it’s precisely those imperfections that make us who we are, and we have to embrace them because there’s so much beauty in those differences.”
She added: “Life is worth fighting for. You are worth fighting for.”

Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams reveals she suffered from suicidal thoughts
In an emotional segment on The Talk Wednesday, the guest-host admitted that achieving success alongside bandmates Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland did little to alleviate her struggle. “I’m in one of the top-selling female groups of all time, suffering with depression,” the singer, 37, explained. “When I disclosed it to our manager [Mathew Knowles, Beyoncé’s father] at the time, bless his heart, he was like, ‘You all just signed a multi-million dollar deal. You’re about to go on tour. What do you have to be depressed about?'”
Looking back, Williams believes that Knowles “wanted me to be grateful, which I was, but I was still sad.” Things were so bad, Williams eventually reached “the point where I was suicidal” and “wanted out.”
At first, Williams had no idea what to call her condition. “I think at the age of 25, had I had a name to what I was feeling at the time, I would have disclosed that ‘I’ve been suffering from depression,'” the singer said. “I didn’t know until I was in my 30s what was going on; I thought it was growing pains. I just thought, ‘I’m just turning into a woman,’ so I’ve been suffering since between the age of 13 to 15.”
Williams was filled with gratitude following the appearance, tweeting, “Thank you @TheTalkCBS for being a safe place to talk about #depression #mentalhealthawareness!! Don’t be afraid to reach out for help!”
Moved by a viewer who said her openness “knocks the stigmas down a flight of stairs,” Williams shared her reaction to the outpouring of support on Instagram. “I truly didn’t know what to expect by discussing depression and how dark it was for me!” she penned. “Letters like this comfort me letting me know it’s ok to CONTINUE sharing my story that I actually share with millions of others! Lord I thank you for this opportunity to use my platform to save lives and let people know they’re not odd, crazy, WEAK, or alone…..they just need help and guidance!!”
If you or someone you know is considering suicide, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Inside the making of Tegan and Sara's 10th-anniversary The Con tribute album
When Tegan and Sara’s Sara Quin looks back on the band’s 2007 album The Con, which took their career to a new level of mainstream success, she remembers the dread of that era: loved ones passed away, she went through a divorce, their label folded — and much of that turmoil showed up in the music. “I listen back to the songs and wish I could get in a time machine and go back and hug myself,” Quin tells EW. But now there’s a reason to look back and celebrate: The Con X: Covers, a 10th-anniversary tribute album (out Oct. 20) that reimagines the group’s seminal LP with covers from Ryan Adams, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Bleachers, CHVRCHES, and more. The project also coincides with The Con X: Tour, which kicks off the same day the album comes out and will feature stripped-down arrangements of every track from The Con in addition to other songs from the band’s extensive catalog.
Hidden Drama
While The Con features some of Tegan and Sara’s darkest, most gut-wrenching lyrical content to date, Quin says she and her twin sister pursued upbeat arrangements and production to keep the 2007 album from feeling like “a f—ing funeral march.” Many of the tracks on The Con X: Covers unearthed that gloom. “When I really examined the lyrics, it was so beautiful and sad,” Sara Bareilles says of her version of “Floorplan.” “I decided to use the ache of the sentiment to redirect the soundscape. I played it on my out-of-tune piano, added some programming and spooky backgrounds, and it all came together in less than 24 hours.” The renditions gave Tegan and Sara new entry points into their own work. “There’s anguish in [Bareilles’] version of ‘Floorplan’ that is maybe missing from mine on the record,” Quin says. “Not that I want to tear our versions apart! But it was nice to have these artists push into the emotional core even more.”
Giving Back
Tegan and Sara, both 37, grew up idolizing Cyndi Lauper and have covered multiple songs from her catalog throughout their career. Quin describes hearing Lauper’s dancey take on “Back in Your Head,” one of the project’s digital bonus tracks, as “totally surreal.” Says Quin, “It’s fascinating when someone you’ve listened to since you were 4 sings your song.” But Lauper was more than happy to lend a hand for the project, whose proceeds will go to the Tegan and Sara Foundation benefiting LGBTQ women. “I love those girls,” Lauper tells EW. In 2008, she handpicked the duo to join her True Colors tour, which supported the Human Rights Campaign and other organizations; the success of the tour inspired Lauper to start the True Colors Fund, which aids homeless LGBTQ youth. “Tegan and Sara were there to help me when I was starting my foundation, and I thought it was quite apropos that I support them on this record as they launch theirs,” Lauper says.
Rocking Out
After spending the first decade of their career toiling in the indie-rock world, Tegan and Sara have spent the past few years transitioning to a more pop-oriented, keyboard-based sound. And while Quin jokes that she’s totally over the guitar (“Tegan is so annoyed at me; we’ve been doing rehearsals for [The Con anniversary] tour, and I am not playing any guitar”), one artist — Ryan Adams — made her reconsider. Adams, who also covered “Back in Your Head,” gave the song a supercharged, ax-heavy makeover. “When I heard that, I was like, ‘Oh, I think I want to make a rock record again,'” Quin explains. Adams’ involvement was also special given his early support of the band: He took them on tour in 2002 and covered them back in the day. “I look up to them, actually,” Adams tells EW. “Although not in person, as they are maybe the only people shorter than me in music.”
Building a Legacy
In addition to tracks from their musical heroes (Lauper, Adams) and peers they came up with in the industry (Bleachers, Paramore’s Hayley Williams), The Con X: Covers also features contributions from artists who count Tegan and Sara as major influence and inspiration: Shura, MUNA, Shamir. “Tegan and I have made a massive effort over the last 10 years to create a community that we didn’t feel we had in the first 10 years of our career,” Quin explains. “Some of it is just, ‘Hey, I saw you put a record out, you’re young and this industry can be crazy, here’s my number, call me anytime. In a way this record is an extension of that … Some of these bands are people I hope would count on us if they needed something.”

Jared Leto confirms ‘Tron 3’ is still in the works
Jared Leto has confirmed that Tron 3 is still in the works – despite lingering uncertainty about the sequel.
After Tron: Legacy revived the storyline from the 1980 original in 2010, a third film was cancelled in May 2015 by Disney despite the near-completion of its pre-production.
With Leto having been reportedly identified by Disney as the actor to lead their reboot of the Tron franchise, the 45-year-old has now given fans an update on the progress of the sequel.
“It was a huge movie for me as well and I do think there’s so much potential in that world, there’s so much left to be said,” Jared said to Collider. “I’m absolutely game to try to help in any way that I can bring that to life.
Jared Leto
“It’s something that we’re in discussions about and very much looking forward to bringing to reality. It’s very early days though.”
Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski – though not yet confirmed to be part of any Tron 3 project – recently added: “Tron 3 is in cryogenic freeze. So, it’s there. It’s not dead. It’s alive, but it’s sitting there, waiting for the right time to move forward.”
Earlier this month, Leto claimed to have never seen Suicide Squad – despite attracting huge attention for his role in the film as The Joker.

Chad Michael Murray revisits iconic One Tree Hill location

Since One Tree Hill went off the air in 2012, former cast members have been meeting up, sharing photos, and taking fans on trips down memory lane.
During a return to Wilmington, North Carolina for EyeCon’s sixth annual Return to Tree Hill Convention, Chad Michael Murray visited the iconic bridge commonly featured in the long-running The CW drama series, most notably during the opening credits. “Who’s bridge? OUR BRIDGE!” wrote Murray in the caption of his Instagram post. “Wonder how many [basketballs] have accidentally bounced off & are living down below.”

Weezer talk upcoming tour with “friendly bitter rivals” Foo Fighters
Weezer have discussed their upcoming tour with Foo Fighters.
The two bands will team up for a joint tour of Australia and New Zealand during January and February 2018. See their tour dates in full here.
Speaking to NME last week, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo said: “We’re friends and rivals. Friendly bitter rivals. I don’t think they think of us as rivals because they’re 10 times bigger than us, but that’s how I feel because we came up at the same time and they put their pedal to the metal, became gigantic, and now we’re opening for them on their stadium tour.”
“It’s all good, because they’re obviously amazing and we love the music,” Cuomo continued.
The Weezer singer went on to describe how the tour came about, explaining: “We were about to sign off on our own New Zealand and Australia tour, and they gave us a call and were like ‘Do you wanna come with us?’ We were like ‘Damn, stadiums? Where do I sign? Let’s do this’.”
Ahead of their tour with Foo Fighters, Weezer will tour the UK from next week. Check out their full list of UK live dates below:
23rd October – Leeds, Academy
24th October – Glasgow, O2 Academy
25th October – Manchester, O2 Apollo
27th October – Birmingham, O2 Academy
28th October – London, SSE Arena, Wembley
Weezer’s eleventh LP ‘Pacific Daydream’ will be released later this month on October 27.

This Is Us star Justin Hartley is a sexy Santa in A Bad Moms Christmas exclusive clip
Hartley stars in the raunchy sequel as Ty, a handsome and charming dancer who strikes up a whirlwind romance with Kathryn Hahn’s Carla. This exclusive clip finds Carla and Ty on their first date — which involves a sexy Santa dance-off.
As Carla tells her friends Amy (Mila Kunis) and Kiki (Kristen Bell), the pair met while she was working at her beauty salon. Specifically, they met while she was waxing his, um, intimate regions.
“You learn a lot about a man when you wax his sack,” she explains. “Some guys cry. Some guys act real tough. But Ty was so calm. It was almost like waxing the balls of the Dalai Lama.”
The sequel to last year’s raunchy comedy picks up around the holidays, as Kunis, Bell, and Hahn find themselves spending Christmas with their own mothers. Christine Baranski is Kunis’ perfectionist mother, Cheryl Hines is the helicopter mom who clings to Bell, and Susan Sarandon is Hahn’s free-wheeling absentee parent.
Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, who co-wrote and directed the original Bad Moms, are also returning for the sequel.
“It was really fun thinking about who their moms might have been and then it was super fun casting what I think are three of the best comedic actresses around to be in the movie,” Lucas told EW in September. “Hopefully every woman will recognize elements of their mom in all three of them.”
A Bad Moms Christmas will hit theaters Nov. 3.

The Irwins return to Animal Planet, the network that made Steve Irwin a star
Discovery Communications announced Wednesday that they have entered into a development and production agreement with Terri, Bindi, and Robert Irwin. The family will work on projects to air across platforms for Animal Planet — the network where the late patriarch Steve Irwin’s Crocodile Hunter aired for more than a decade — while also serving as “global ambassadors” for Discovery Communications.
“Steve Irwin was a champion for all wildlife and he and Terri’s excitement and enthusiasm brought viewers from around the world in touch with nature,” Patrice Andrews, general manager of Animal Planet, said in a statement. “Their passion for animals, love for their family, and leadership in conservation awareness left a strong legacy that continues today. We are thrilled to have Terri, Bindi, and Robert back in the Animal Planet family.”
Added Terri, “We’re excited to be returning home to Animal Planet and our Discovery Communications family. We look forward to the year ahead as we embark on new projects and adventures with Animal Planet.”
Terri, the widow of Steve Irwin, is a wildlife spokesperson and prominent conservation advocate. Her daughter, Bindi, notably won Dancing with the Stars back in 2015, while son Robert has made multiple appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Steve’s groundbreaking Crocodile Hunter introduced a new form of wildlife documentary and gained popularity around the world. He was killed by a stingray’s barb, which pierced his heart, in 2006.
