The half-Dominican, half-Trinidadian rapper, who was raised in New York City’s the Bronx, is now committed to getting more visibility for her fellow Spanish-speaking, Latino rappers. First, she teamed up with New York-based Dominican Messiah, who was featured in the Latin version of her chart-topping single “Bodak Yellow.”
Both artists have made it big in 2017. Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” was one of the biggest hits this year, knocking Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” off the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. And in June, “Bardi,” as fans call her, scored a recording deal with Atlantic Records. Meanwhile, Ozuna made a big splash with hits like “Se Preparó” and “Tu Foto,” capturing the attention of the New York Times, which profiled the musician back in Sept. The Carolina-born performer was also featured on Post Malone’s “Rockstar” Latin Remix.
