Last week, Shia Labeouf installed a livestream camera in New York City Museum of the Moving Image as part of his He Will Not Divide Us art installation/protest against the current president, Donald Trump. The plan was to let people come up to the camera and chant "he will not divide us" for as long as they'd like. The plan was to demonstrate resilience. But then, things got a little out of hand.
Anyone who's followed the actor's personal history knows he has a bit of a temper, and there have been multiple instances of white supremacists antagonizing the actor and other participants, and the last confrontation landed Labeouf in handcuffs.
The video starts off innocently enough, with a man calling for Shia to get close to him. "What's uppppp?" he says when Shia comes into frame. And then he said, "Hitler did nothing wrong," which provoked the infuriated actor to shove him and pull him by the scarf. He has been arrested for assault and harassment, but wouldn't the truer crime to have been doing nothing at all? We're on your side, Shia.
Neo-Nazi says "Hitler did nothing wrong" to Shia LaBeouf and got pushed. Now is getting criticized for pushing him.#HeWillNotDivideUs http://pic.twitter.com/SVFO2MtlvJ
