Radiohead’s Thom Yorke hits out at Britpop: ‘It made me fucking angry’
Radiohead have criticized Britpop in a new interview, with frontman Thom Yorke saying the 90s movement made him “fucking angry”.
The band recently announced the 20th anniversary reissue of their classic album ‘OK Computer’, which will arrive on June 23. Originally released in 1997, ‘OK Computer’ came out the same year as seminal Britpop records such as Oasis‘ ‘Be Here Now’ and Blur‘s self-titled album.
Yorke added: “The whole Britpop thing made me fucking angry. I hated it. It was backwards-looking, and I didn’t want any part of it.”
Meanwhile, it has been announced that Jonny Greenwood will open for his own band during Radiohead’s European tour.
Greenwood’s side project Junun, which features the guitarist along with Shye Ben Tzur, and the Rajasthan Express, will support Radiohead for their forthcoming dates in Oslo, Stockholm, Florence, Dublin, Manchester, and Tel Aviv in June and July. They will also play a handful of their own shows during the tour.
Radiohead are due to headline Glastonbury on June 23.

Who is Kenny Chesney? Everything You Need To Know About The Country Star
Kenny Chesney is a country musician from Knoxville, Tennessee. Being a Tennessee native basically makes him destined to be a country star. He has been making music for nearly 30 years, since at least 1989 when he recorded a self-released demo.
In 1990 shortly after the release of that demo, he relocated, as is the country way, to Nashville. The rest as they say is history. He was signed to Capricorn Records in 1993 and has not looked back since. His first album, released in 1994, was called In My Wildest Dreams. The lead single for which was The Tin Man.
Is Kenny Chesney On Tour?
Kenny Chesney is touring the States between June 10 2017 and August 26 2017. The tour starts at Carolina Country Music Festival in Myrtle Beach, SC. It ends at the Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. You can still buy tickets for his shows.
What’s The Kenny Chesney and Pink Song?
Kenny Chesney has released a song with Pink on his latest album, Cosmic Hallelujah. The song is called Setting The World On Fire and is about having a wild night in Los Angeles. Listen to it below:
Is Kenny Chesney In A Relationship?
Kenny Chesney is reported to be dating Jamie Hill. Hill is an American actress and model. She won Miss South Carolina in 2008.
Kenny Chesney’s love life has been well documented, particularly since his short term relationship with Renée Zellweger. The couple met in January 2005 at a tsunami relief event. They married in May of that year. The marriage lasted a sum total of four months, before Renée sought to annul the marriage, citing “Fraud” as the reason. There was much speculation as to what this could mean, and what exactly Kenny had done. Unfortunately for gossip-mongers worldwide it turns out “fraud” is a bit of legalese that could mean any number of things.
What Is Kenny Chesney’s Net Worth?
Forbes puts Kenny Chesney’s net worth at approximately $56 million.

The Mummy: Tom Cruise hits the red carpet in Madrid after UK premiere axed
Tom Cruise led the cast of The Mummy up the red carpet at the film’s premiere in Madrid on Monday (May 29) following the cancellation of the London screening in the wake of last week’s Manchester terror attack.
Cruise accompanied co-stars Annabelle Wallis and Sofia Boutella to the Madrid screening to mark the launch of the reboot of the classic 1990s franchise, released on June 9, as anticipation of one of the summer’s biggest blockbuster releases reaches fever pitch. Here’s the latest.
What did Tom Cruise get up to at the Madrid premiere of The Mummy?
Having taken time out to visit Athletico Madrid’s stadium to be presented with his own team shirt, everyone’s favourite sofa bouncer hit The Mummy’s first official screening in a dapper blue suit, taking copious selfies with fans and helping Wallis navigate the carpet in her trip-happy dress. What a charmer, eh?
#TomCruise attends "The Mummy" premiere in #Madrid wearing a #Brioni bespoke three-pieces suit @Brioni_Official #TheMensDesk @TomCruise http://pic.twitter.com/ppGfwLIjbx
— The Men's Desk (@TheMensDesk) May 30, 2017
Why was The Mummy UK screening cancelled?
After 22 people were killed in a terror attack on an Ariana Grande show at the Manchester Arena last week, Universal decided to pull the UK premiere of The Mummy, which had ben scheduled for June 1. “All of us at Universal have been devastated by the terror attack in Manchester,” a statement read. “Out of respect to those affected by this tragedy we have decided not to move forward with the London premiere for The Mummy.” The UK premiere of Wonder Woman was also axed.
Are there new pictures from the set?
There sure are. Empire magazine have released exclusive pics of Boutella’s barely-wrapped titular monster alongside an interview with director Alex Kurtzman discussing the depths behind the double-eyed beastie.
“The thing I’ve been focused on more than anything is that she has a really good reason to be where she’s at,” he said. “If we can relate to her, and experience that weird, confusing Universal feeling you get of loving and caring about the monster, then hopefully I will have succeeded.”
Are there any reviews of The Mummy?
Not yet, so let’s hear from the man himself, Tom Cruise, interviewed ahead of the Australian premiere on May 22. “We created this character of Nick who’s a thief,” he told Sky News in Australia, “he releases the Mummy thinking he’s gonna get some profit from it, and little did he know he got something but not what he expected, you’re taken on this massive adventure.” But how many thumbs up, Tom?

Kim Kardashian discusses Kendall Jenner’s reaction to her axed Pepsi advert
Kim Kardashian has revealed that her sister Kendall Jenner felt “awful” about her axed Pepsi advert.
The advert, which showed Jenner handing a can of cola to a cop supervising a protest, was widely criticised when it launched in April. Color of Change, a US advocacy group that campaigns to “end practices that unfairly hold Black people back,” accused the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star of “appropriating our pain and struggle”.
Pepsi pulled the advert in the wake of the controversy, admitting it had missed the mark. However, Jenner has never shared her thoughts on what happened.
“She totally understood at the end of the day, and she felt really awful for it and she just wants to move on,” Kardashian said during an appearance on Andy Cohen’s chatshow Watch What Happens Live.
During the interview, Kardashian also defended her husband Kanye West’s controversial meeting with Donald Trump.
“I encourage everyone to go and speak with a leader if they think they can make a change,” she said. “And I think that’s what Kanye thought.”

Kanye West’s original album title for ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ revealed
Kanye West‘s classic album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ was originally called ‘Donda’s Boy’, according to reports.
West released the record in November 2010, with a former intern at his label Def Jam now revealing that when Kanye first played the album it had a completely different title and feel.
Rory Farrell told the A Waste Of Time podcast that the album originally went by the name ‘Donda’s Boy’ (West’s mother Donda passed away in 2007) and consisted of ten guest-less tracks, nine of which were ten minutes long and one (‘Runaway’) stretching to 20 minutes.
“I was in meetings that interns were not supposed to be in,” Farrell said, describing how West turned up at the Def Jam office and demanded that everyone be wearing suits. “Everyone comes into the office looking like a terrible funeral,” he added, describing a scene where Kanye starts to drink from a medieval goblet before the meeting begins.
Farrell continued: “He then takes out his laptop and starts playing ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’. At this time, it was called ‘Donda’s Boy’, I don’t know if that ever went out but it was called ‘Donda’s Boy’… It was all Kanye. ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ but it was just Kanye West [with no featured guests]. And it was amazing.”
Listen to the full podcast episode below, the Kanye bit starts at the 43-minute mark.
#121: Rory Farrell by A Waste of Time
This week on A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal, we welcome Rory Farrell (co-host of The Joe Budden Podcast and General Manager of HennyPalooza) back to the Upper West Side for his own episode!
Meanwhile, Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian has defended his controversial meeting with Donald Trump, saying: “You know, we have different opinions, and Kanye’s opinions, I don’t want to speak on what his opinions are, but they’re evolving.”
She added: “I encourage everyone to go and speak with a leader if they think they can make a change. And I think that’s what Kanye thought.”

Is The Mayor a reboot of He’s The Mayor?
ast week we got excited about The Mayor the new show coming to ABC this fall. We’ve got a whole page about The Mayor if you need more info, but if you just want to get up to speed fast here is the trailer
Looks great, right? What a brilliant premise for a show. Well here is a trailer for the 1980’s comedy He’s The Mayor.
The show only had one half season in 1986 and only the first 10 episodes were aired. It starred Kevin Hooks as Mayor Carl Burke.
Hooks had a few acting roles but gained considerable success directing. He was a producer on Prison Break and and directed 13 episodes of the show and the film Prison Break: The Final Break. He also directed the action classic Passenger 57.
David Graf also appeared in the series who would later gain a wealth of fans through playing Sgt. Tackleberry in the Police Academy films.
Are The Mayor and He's The Mayor the same story?
Both shows feature an African-American as an unexpected Mayor, but in the new series is set in a small town in California. Instead of New York City. Also the Mayor’s motivations are very different. Courtney Rose runs for office just as a publicity stunt.
Either way we will have to wait till Fall to find out.

Who is Stormzy? The Man Behind The Music
Stormzy is the man of the moment. From relative obscurity he has risen in just a couple of years to superstardom. He can now boast having Ed Sheeran, Adele and Drake as contacts in his phone book.
We have written about him in the past, where we revealed some of Stormzy’s best songs. But now we’re going to try and get behind the Stormzy front and get to know the real Michael Omari.
Michael Omari has many nicknames, Stormzy being just one. Others include Big Mike, Wicked Skengman, Stiff Chocolate and The Problem.
How Old is Stormzy?
Stormzy was born on July 26 1993, which at time of writing makes him 23 years of age.
Stormzy is one of the new wave of grime artists to come through. Following in the footsteps of pioneers such as Wiley, Jme, Skepta and more, he has been a figurehead in the second wave of grime. The second wave of grime is more commercially minded, but paradoxically does not forego on any of its founding principals.
This new, young and hungry wave of grime artists are setting the world alight. But that’s not to say there’s no little measure of consternation from the original stars at the young’uns coming through and pushing the genre to heights they had never managed to scale. Stormzy took a stand against this on his album, Gang Signs & Prayers, by getting one of the originals - Crazy Titch - to record an interlude.
Crazy Titch is something of a legend. He is serving a life sentence for murder. But it is a widely held belief that had he not committed murder he would have been one of grimes early crossover stars alongside Dizzee Rascal, with whom he had a fractious relationship. Getting Crazy Titch to feature on his album, Stormzy is trying to shore up his grime credentials.
How tall is Stormzy?
Omari has the nickname Big Mike for a reason. He stands at 6 foot 5 inches tall, or 196 cm for those that prefer metric. He also has very big feet, measuring in at size 12, UK size. He mentions this on his song, Big For Your Boots.
Stormzy is from an area of South London called Thornton Heath. It is a fairly rough area and so he has since used his newfound fame and wealth to get out and move into the far more upmarket area of Fulham, West London.
His mum is a Ghanaian immigrant to the UK, and he dreams of making enough money that he can build her a big house in her home country of Ghana.
On the subject of his mum she is undoubtedly one of the coolest mums in music. She features heavily in his Know Me From video, can you spot her?

Who is Jme? The Man Behind the Music
Jamie Adenuga is better known by his stage name Jme. He is a British grime MC that is affiliated with the Boy Better Know (BBK) record label. He is famous for being a particularly nimble rapper, with his verses brimming over with as many wisecracks as cutting put downs.
He can go from referencing Harry Potter spells, discussing his favorite vegan curry to explaining how he intends to beat you, dear listener, up using his car keys, house keys and bank fob. And that’s all in one song.
He is the brother of Skepta, Joseph ‘Junior’ Adenuga. We’ve written about Skepta in the past, give his best songs a listen or find out who Skepta is. Jme is a founding member of the grime collective Boy Better Know, or BBK, that is made up of his brother Skepta, Wiley and also boasts Drake as an honorary member.
He can go from referencing Harry Potter spells, discussing his favorite vegan curry to explaining how he intends to beat you, dear listener, up using his car keys, house keys and bank fob. And that’s all in one song. He marks himself apart as being one of the few grime artists with a University Degree. He studied Digital Design at Greenwich University, London.
How Old Is Jme?
Jamie Adenuga is the younger brother of Skepta. He was born on May 4 1985, which at time of writing makes him 32 years old.
He has been making music for the past decade under the name Jme. The first track he uploaded to YouTube was in 2007, when he was just 22. It was called Serious, and acts as his mission statement. He lays down his plans of taking over the music scene. He claims those that only rap about guns, drugs and girls will get nowhere. This is where it all starts for Jme, on his ascent to the top of the grime food chain.
Where Is Jme From?
Jme grew up in Tottenham, North London. From his early days as a rapper he was associated with the Meridian Crew, who all grew up in and around the Meridian Walk Estate.
Hs parents are Nigerian immigrants to the UK and he and his brother have spoken of their Nigerian pride in the past.
We’ve written about all sorts of grime artists in the past, get the lowdown on J Hus, Lady Leshurr and AJ Tracey.

Arcade Fire to release new song this week?
Arcade Fire could be set to release a new song later this week.
In January, the Canadian group unveiled their first new track in two years, an anti-Trump Mavis Staples collaboration called ‘I Give You Power’. They were rumored to be releasing their new album in April, but that failed to surface.
Now, as Stereogum points out, Vancouver radio station 102.7 The Peak recently suggested that the band would be releasing a new single this week (Friday, June 2) in a since-deleted tweet. The post had read: “Hold onto your bobble heads, @arcadefire have promised us a new tune on Friday!”

The show reportedly took place at a small space on Parthenais Street in Montreal, with the Montreal Gazette reporting that all attendees were required to check their phones in at the door.
The set lasted over an hour, while the six new songs performed “exhibited pop and electronic influences in the vein of [last album] ‘Reflektor’”, according to one lucky attendee.

Twin Peaks: The Return - The Best Plot Theories
A tree with a brain? A murderous glass box? Giants playing Backwards Numberwang? If none of this makes any sense to you, don’t worry, it doesn’t to the most attentive Twin Peaks fan either. Four new episodes in, Twin Peaks: The Return is certainly living up to its reputation as a baffling torrent of surreal clues, twists and fanbait designed to light up Reddit with wild, speculative theories as to what the hell is going on. With spoilers going off like fireworks on the 4th of July, here’s some of the more credible ideas the online Peakers have to offer so far.
There’s a psychic battle for dominance going on between the two Agent Coopers
Digital Spy posit a fairly creditable theory about what’s happening in Twin Peaks: The Return so far, suggesting that David Lynch is setting up an epic battle between the real Dale Cooper and his evil doppleganger. “Dale Cooper's genuine soul has been trapped in the Black Lodge for 25 long years,” they say. “Something has precipitated its release. Given its prediction by Laura Palmer way back when, perhaps it really is nothing more than the end of a sentence that has been spent. A purification process, perhaps. ‘The legend says that every spirit must pass through there on the way to perfection,’ Hawk told Cooper of the Black Lodge. ‘There, you will meet your own shadow self. My people call it The Dweller on the Threshold.’
“Cooper is stumbling his way back. But he needs psychic assistance to overthrow Evil Coop and truly return. Evil Coop will not give up his place without a fight. He has killed Major Briggs, double-crossed Phillip Jeffries and will attempt anything to keep the Good Dale at bay.”
DS also suggests that Hawk’s mission might be connected to Cooper’s redemption. “There's a line of Cooper's from season two that's been surfacing in recent days,” they say. “’Hawk. If I'm ever lost, I hope you're the man they send to find me’. Eventually, that's what will happen.” Here's a further deep look into what might be going on in the first new episodes.
The glass box billionaire is Cooper’s doppleganger
Heavy.com have several theories about the new season, one of which involves this mysterious glass box being filmed by cameras, which kills Sam and Tracey mid-coitus. We know it’s part of an experiment set up by an unnamed billionaire and somehow acts as a portal to the Black Lodge, but speculation is rife about who said billionaire might be. “Normally, a person can’t leave the Black Lodge until their doppelganger comes back,” Heavy suggests, “but when [doppleganger] Cooper refused to go back when he was supposed to, The Man From Another Place (aka Tree) decided to find another way to send Cooper back to the real world. He was supposed to just jump through a special opening, but the Tree’s doppelganger showed up and tried to ‘non-existence’ him. When he fell through the non-existence portal, he ended up in the glass box (but he couldn’t get out.) Later, he’s gone when the student and Tracey come back to the room. But another entity comes to the box instead and breaks out, killing them both.
The running theory is that [doppleganger] Cooper was the billionaire who funded the box, and he built it to capture Cooper when he inevitably appeared after [doppleganger] Cooper decided not to go back to the Black Lodge.” Which makes as much sense as anything about the series so far.
Other fans have different ideas, citing Philip Jeffries (David Bowie’s character from Fire Walk With Me) as the rich box-funder, and there are other suspects too. “My guess is that the billionaire is Audrey,” writes goatofthenight. “First of all, she is a Thorne so she came from a rich background. Second, she had already proven herself in season 2 to be quite adept at business. Third, it's possible that she ended up with some sort of financial settlement from what happened to her at the end of season 2 which would only add to her bank account. Finally, she already had a friendship/romantic interest in Cooper so she would be devastated by his disappearance and would have the connections and resources needed to figure out where Cooper could possibly return.” Curious. Here's some further suggestions:
Laura Palmer is an angel (or a demon)
Back over at Heavy.com, they’re all prostrating themselves in quasi-religious fervours before the scene where ‘Laura Palmer’ tells Cooper that she isn’t exactly Laura Palmer and then takes her face off to reveal that she’s actually made of white light. “It’s possible that the bright light in her face indicates she’s now some kind of angelic being,” they write, reminding readers that an angel accosted her in Fire Walk With Me. “The bright light within her may also show how she stood strong against BOB and was never possessed by him. She may be one of the only ‘pure’ things in the Red Room. Or at least, she was until she was snatched away. It’s likely that Laura Palmer actually belonged in the White Lodge, but only visited 25 years later to send a message to Cooper.” Nice idea, but another fan online believes that the demon in the jail cell is actually Laura's "unrested soul".
The truth is out the… sorry, wrong series.

Who Is Skepta? The Man Behind the Music
Joseph ‘Junior’ Adenuga is the man behind the grime artist Skepta. To say he’s had a good couple of years would be an understatement. At the beginning of 2015 he was one of the figureheads of what was basically a creatively bankrupt musical genre. Grime had peaked a decade earlier and all its best had migrated to chart friendly club tunes.
Adenuga decided that wasn’t for him. Turning his back on what he saw as sellout music he released his song ‘That’s Not Me’, and he hasn’t looked back since. He’s been picked up by Canadian culture vulture Drake, who has taken him under his wing and in turn borrowed heavily from the grime sound and lexicon.
But to understand what drives Skepta, it’s a good idea to get to know Joseph, or as he’s known to his friends Junior. If you just want to hear the music read our article on Skepta’s best tracks.
How old is Skepta?
Skepta was born on September 19 1982, making him at the time of writing 34 years old. He has been a well known act on the grime scene since around 2005 when he was roughly 22 and rose to prominence as part of the Roll Deep crew, whose alumni include Dizzee Rascal. Roll Deep disbanded and shortly after, Skepta set up the Boy Better Know crew with his brother Jamie (stage name JME).
Where is Skepta From?
Skepta grew up in Tottenham, North London. Skepta was part of the Meridian Crew that grew out of the Meridian Walk Estate in Tottenham. Both his parents are Nigerian immigrants to the UK.
Skepta has in the past talked about being proud of his Nigerian roots, particularly in a music scene that prizes Caribbean and Jamaican culture above that of Africa. He recently travelled to Nigeria to build a playground in the village his father is from.
How Much is Skepta Worth?
It is estimated that Skepta is worth roughly $2 million.
How Tall is Skepta?
Skepta stands at exactly 6 foot tall. For those using the metric system that measures in at 184cm.
If you enjoyed this article about Skepta and want to know more about music read the article we wrote about Skepta’s best songs.

Peaky Blinders New Series: BBC and Netflix Release Dates
Peaky Blinders is a stylish BBC commissioned show set in 1920s Birmingham, about Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) a gangster with a heart, nerve and temperament as cold as his steely blue eyes. His gang, deputized by his family, are a bunch of hard-nut scrappers of Roma/Irish traveller descent. The gang are notorious for sewing razor blades into the peaks of their flat caps. These are used to slash at the faces and eyes of rivals, hence the name the Peaky Blinders.
In the UK the show is set to release its fourth season in 2017. US audiences are one season behind the UK with the first two seasons available on Netflix. The third season will be debuting on Netflix for an international audience.
Peaky Blinders Season 4
The fourth season of Peaky Blinders is due out in late 2017, but no solid dates have yet been chosen for its release. It will first be released on the BBC in the UK, it will then be released in all likelihood the following year on Netflix.
Filming is under way with shots of the sets released online. You can find a whole host of pictures on the Birmingham Mail site.
[SEASON 3 SPOILERS UPCOMING]
Judging by the shots it looks as though the majority of the gang is back together, obviously minus youngest brother John Shelby who was locked up at the end of Season 3.
[SPOILER ENDS]
Peaky Blinders Season 3
For those unfortunate enough not to get the BBC series as it airs on terrestrial TV, season 3 will be hitting Netflix on May 31 2017.
You can watch the Netflix Original trailer for it below (the video is disabled in the UK):
Season 3 sees the boys back at it. Tommy is fresh-faced, having cheated death in the finale of season 2 and is living a life of luxury in a mansion in the Midlands countryside. The first episode opens with a marriage. But to whom?
Peaky Blinders Cast
The cast is pretty big with a lot of hangers-on to the Shelby boys. Not to mention the other gangs and groups of police on either side of the law.
Tommy Shelby - Cillian Murphy
Leader of the Peaky Blinders gang. Tommy plays the cooler-than-you middle brother whose sharp mind and piercing eyes mark him apart from the rest. It is heavily implied that having served in the Great War he returned a markedly different man. His time in the trenches is extremely formative to him and shapes the man he is in the series.
Polly Gray - Helen McCrory
Aunt Polly is the matriarch of the Shelby family. She also acts as the main advisor to Tommy on business matters, often preaching a less violent and more measured approach to business. Not that it has much effect. She successfully ran the family when the boys were at war.
Arthur Shelby - Paul Anderson
Arthur is the eldest Shelby boy, but never showed the mental fortitude required to lead the gang. This lead to a peaceful and bloodless coup, that saw Tommy assume control with barely a harsh word spoken. He is the typical hot headed brother with a taste for booze and cocaine. He initially struggles with memories of the war and the fact he is not the head of the family, but eventually comes to terms with his bruiser role. In later series he finds a good wife and God, both of which conflict with his line of work.
John Shelby - Joe Cole
Younger than Tommy, John was the youngest of the brothers to serve in the war. He’s the pretty boy youngster who’s got his heart in the right place but doesn’t share the stone cold nutter or ruthless tactician character types that tipify his elder brothers.
Alfie Solomons - Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy (who also starred in another BBC series Taboo) is at his method best, playing psycho Jewish gang leader Alfie Solomons, based in North London. He and the Peaky Blinders come to an uncomfortable and volatile truce in order to take on the dominant Italian gang of London.
Peaky Blinders Haircut
A lot has been made of the Peaky Blinders’ haircuts. Sharp, contrasting and bold would be the three best ways to describe them. They have taken short back and sides to the extreme. If you want to find out more about the haircuts watch the video below.

Watch the new ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ trailer featuring Donald Glover
A brand new trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming has been released ahead of the reboot’s release this summer.
The trailer features a glimpse of Tom Holland’s web-slinger interacting with Donald Glover’s character, whose identity has yet to be revealed. Watch below.
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for release on July 7. The cast also includes Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Marisa Tomei as Spidey’s Aunt May, Michael Keaton as the villainous Vulture, and Zendaya as a character called Michelle.
The film is a joint production between Sony and Marvel Studios, the third cinematic iteration of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but the first to tie in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland’s Spider-Man is a few years younger than those played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, and the film is said to have a tone reminiscent of classic ’80s John Hughes movies like Weird Science and Pretty In Pink.
Sony and Marvel have already confirmed a sequel to Homecoming, slated for July 5, 2019.

Josh Homme teases ‘uptempo, risky, best’ new Queens Of The Stone Age album
Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has talked about his band’s upcoming new album, describing it as “uptempo” and “risky” while also stating the group’s aim to make it their “best” yet.
The band has revealed that their follow-up to 2013’s ‘… Like Clockwork’ is “mixed and finished” and that it wouldn’t feature any special guests. They also recently posted a cryptic image on their social media channels along with the words ‘Twenty Five’, possibly hinting at the name of the new album, or its lead single.
Speaking with New Zealand’s the Rock FM, Homme said that he feels “sort of like a panther in the trees leaping out of the darkness” who’s “ready to pounce” ahead of the album’s release.
“I feel like we’re just leaning on the gate waiting for someone to open that sucker up so we can move,” Homme added. “I think the record feels that way too — it feels uptempo.”

Meanwhile, Queens of the Stone Age were recently announced as part of the line-up for Chicago’s Riot Fest 2017, which takes place in September. That gig is only the fourth North American live date that the band has confirmed so far – they’ll also play at Amnesia Rockfest in Canada (June 22-25), Montebello Rock Fest 2017 (June 23-24) and San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival in August. They will also play dates in New Zealand, Australia and Japan this summer, with more tour news expected.

Netflix and Chill: A Roundup of 2017’s Best Netflix Shows & Films (so far)
Netflix have stolen the show in recent years, quite literally. Any series or film worth anything has been snapped up by Netflix, that is if HBO didn’t get there first. Regardless Netflix has become the most subscribed to distributor of television and film in the world, in 2017 it reached the milestone 100 million mark.
We’ve written a lot recently about some of the best shows and films to be featured on Netflix. Below is a roundup of the best shows you and bae should snuggle down and watch.
House of Cards
House of Cards season 5 is back. The new season looks incredible. Frank Underwood, played masterfully by Kevin Spacey, and wife Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright, are sat pretty in the White House, ready for world domination. You can watch a trailer for it below, and find all five seasons on Netflix.
You have to stick House of Cards up there with shows that have defined their era, we’re talking The Wire, The Sopranos and Breaking Bad. Era defining and format affirming, they led the way in how television is created and consumed. House of Cards was the first major series to be released all in one go, and more to the point was written and created with bingeing in mind.
Peaky Blinders
This plucky British entry definitely deserves watching. It follows a gang of Brummie (that’s people from Birmingham in the UK) gangsters in the 1920s. Watch the ruthless Shelby brothers go about their mission of world domination against the backdrop of smoggy, industrial Birmingham.
Originally released through the BBC in the UK. Netflix bought the previous seasons and are airing them in all their territories. Peaky Blinders season four is about to launch at the end of May, while Netflix is about to launch season 3 to its international audiences.
If you liked the British gangster film Snatch this is likely to float your boat. Stylized, violent, gritty in its Britishness and with a heartthrob lead (Cillian Murphy) there really is little more you could want from the show.
Sense8
Sense8 is an odd one. It has been roundly panned by the critics, but seems extremely popular with the viewing. I mean, what do experts know after all? Now in its second season the show has confounded the critics. It is directed by the Wachowskis who are probably best known for the Matrix. Sense8 Season 2 looks to pick up where the first season left off, it is about a group of eight psychics who, while physically located all around the globe, can use their powers to effectively work side by side wherever they are needed.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 was released in May 2017. The show follows Kimmy Schmidt and her unbreakable optimism. In 8th Grade she was kidnapped and, along with two other women, held hostage in a bunker by a man, Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm) who believed Doomsday was nigh. On release Kimmy’s unwavering optimism takes her to New York and a new, modern life.
The show has been raved about from audiences and critics alike. The second season in particular is rated at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season hardly trails behind either with a rather impressive 95% rating.
War Machine
War Machine stands alone in this list as the sole film. But it is so much more than just that. This is Netflix Originals entering the big league. With an all star cast including Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton and Ben Kingsley this shows the streaming network maturing into a serious player.
The film cost Netflix $60 million to buy, making it by a long way the biggest investment yet. This film and a more low key release, Okja, is getting the service booed at the Cannes film festival for their part in ‘ruining cinema’, whatever that may mean.
Oh yeah the film has content as well. It’s about a crazy American general spreading his particular brand of buffoonery around late aughties, War on Terror era Afghanistan.
12 Monkeys
12 Monkeys season 3 has been released to the US. But the international market has had to wait a little longer for it. The series is released through Netflix internationally. The first two series have already come out on Netflix.
This series is based off the 1995 released film of the same name. The series, like War Machine and House of Cards, has been distributed in an interesting way. It was originally released on the SyFy channel, where the 10 episodes of the latest season were released over the space of three nights. All so the series could be put out on streaming services such as Hulu (in the US) and Netflix (internationally).
Marvel’s The Defenders
Marvel’s The Defenders is what fans of Netflix’s Marvel series have been waiting for. Finally the four heroes are working together to save NYC.
The unit is made up of Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Luke Cage. The season is unfortunately not out just yet, it drops in August 2017. But you can watch a trailer below:
GLOW
GLOW or Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling is a series about female wrestling, think less Olympics and more The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment History Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. This show stars Alison Brie of American Gods fame as well as Yvette Nicole Brown who is slated to appear in The Mayor. The show is due out in June, but you can watch a trailer below:
Mindhorn
This final, slightly left of field choice is a quirky British comedy film. It is being distributed internationally by Netflix, but not in the UK. Starring Julian Barratt, who is a bit of a UK comedy cult legend and Steve Coogan who has an equally devout following in his role as peculiarly British oddball Alan Partridge.
Mindhorn is about a washed up old actor who brings his character out of retirement for one final hurrah and to overcome an international criminal mastermind.

Will Lucifer Ever Meet Wonder Woman Or The Rest Of The Justice League?
The TV series of Lucifer is a massive hit and with DC finally hitting a stride with a good film thanks to Wonder Woman - at least according to the leaks we’ve seen. Could we start to see some interesting crossovers between different heroes? We looked at the for and against. To give you fair warning. Things are about to get nerdy.
For a Lucifer Crossover
The Arrow
The adventures of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow was the first TV show in the DC universe to get real attention. It’s now in its fifth season with a sixth confirmed. It’s had a few characters appear from other shows including the Flash.
Ra’s al Ghul has also featured (played by Matthew Nable) who was the main foe of Batman in Batman Begins. Liam Neeson was interested in playing the role in Arrow but sadly couldn’t due to scheduling problems.
The Flash
The pilot of the Flash was the second most watched premiere in the history of the CW and has just been renewed for it’s fourth season. The Flash has regular crossovers with Arrow, as well as introducing a wider audience to Earth-2 (a parallel universe version of earth).
When the characters in The Flash travelled to Earth-2 they saw a picture of Supergirl (played by Melissa Benoist) as well as a version of the Flash from the 90s TV show. This was taken to imply that both those characters are in different universes, eventually called Earth-38.
Barry (The Flash) accidentally ends up in Earth-38 in a later episode, helping Supergirl battle two of her foes before going home. To make things even more complex The Flash appears in the trailer for The Justice League although he is played by Ezra Miller.
Supergirl
Kara Zer-El (Supergirl) has had, we think, the most crossovers so far in the two seasons it’s had. Superman made an appearance early on or at least his shadow did before being played by a real human with a face, in the shape of Tyler Hoechlin.
The Flash appeared in episode eighteen (mentioned above) which was more impressive when you consider that The Flash is on CW and Supergirl is on CBS. The episode was such a hit that it was repeated a few times with even more planned. The Legends of Tomorrow have also made an appearance.
Gotham has been mentioned in passing a couple of times which opens the door to Batman, or at least a window and of course J'onn j'onzz, the Martian Manhunter is in the Supergirl TV series.
Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
This was not a good film, but it did begin the process of kick-starting the DC film universe with multiple superheroes appearing at the same time. Joining Batman and Superman was the new Wonder Woman who made her first appearance played by Gal Gadot and stole the show.
The Justice League
This film hasn’t been released yet but from the trailer we’ve seen Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash. This appears to be a separate timeline from the TV shows but at least we’ve got the characters working together.
From all of this we can see that DC are happy to have characters invading each other's’ stories, including bad guys. There is hope right? Well before you get too excited about everyone’s favourite fallen angel appearing all over the place let’s look at the arguments against a crossover.
Against a Lucifer Crossover
Fox
Lucifer on FOX. The Flash and the Arrow are The CW and Supergirl is CBS. A crossover between those is a little bit easier because CBS co-owns CW, but Fox is an entirely different entity.
It’s not impossible for characters owned by different companies to meet. Spiderman is licensed to Sony and he turned up in Captain America: Civil War which was produced by Marvel but it is more complicated because of lawyers.
No one else is special in Lucifer
Lucifer is self contained, at the moment at least. One of the main themes of the show is almost no-one believes Lucifer when he says who he is. People would be far less skeptical about Lucifer being some sort of super being if Superman were already flying around saving the world.
We’ve also not heard any hints of other DC super creatures, which is weird given how much fun The Arrow, Supergirl and The Flash have had dropping names.
The Vertigo Universe
The DC Comics universe is complicated, even before you get to Earth-38. Traditionally Lucifer and other ‘adult’ characters existed in a parallel universe called Vertigo.
This was where stories with more grown-up themes happened with Batman and Superman jumping about in a separate universe. This rule has been shaken up for special events like the Flashpoint storyline so it’s not impossible but then little is when it comes to superheroes.
Lucifer isn’t the only character from the Vertigo universe to make it onto TV. Preacher is also in the Vertigo universe, but it’s made by AMC so has the same complications as Fox.
We wouldn’t be surprised if DC already have wheels in motion for this. Given how much buzz there is about The Defenders and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Kevin Spacey On House of Cards Vs Trump: 'We Have Better Writers'
Kevin Spacey threw down the gauntlet on the Trump presidency saying, that House of Cards has better writers when he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Colbert quizzed Spacey about where they get their ideas from and the star of House of Cards made it clear that they don't look to real events for inspiration it's just a strange thing that happens.
'At some point between when we’ve shot the season and before it drops there are three or four or five things that we have dealt with on the show happen that end up happening in the real world.’ Explains Spacey. ‘And we go, everyone’s going to assume that we stole it from the headlines but in fact, we did it first.’
‘I have to say in all honesty, I think we’ve never been more relevant. I do believe we have better writers. I have to say, it’s been very entertaining.'
You can watch the clip below. It’s worth it just for Spacey’s impression of Christopher Walken.
Spacey has a bit of form when it comes to impressions. He’s previously done a very convincing Christopher Walken at the AFI awards. He also does a bit of bonus Jack Nicholson which is made even more fun because Jack Nicholson is in the room.
House Of Cards Release Date 2017

30 Classic Hip-Hop & R&B Jams for Your BBQ Playlist
There’s nothing better than getting together with friends and family on a sunny afternoon for a BBQ. The cherry on top is a great soundtrack, and for this week’s Throwback Thursday column, Myspace is helping you put together that soundtrack with 30 classic hip-hop and R&B jams.
The goal of any BBQ soundtrack is to keep people movin’ and groovin’, and keep the cursing to a minimum so the kids are all good. So put on your freshest pair of kicks, and get ready to crank up the volume, it’s time to get the season started right!
FYI – There’s a pretty cool bonus in the form of a complete YouTube playlist of every song in this feature at the end of the article.
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince – Summertime
If you’re at a BBQ that doesn’t have this classic in its playlist, just leave. Lord knows what else they’re going to get wrong. They probably have something like quinoa burgers on the grill, and the blandest potato salad imaginable.
Shanice – I Love Your Smile
Breezy, happy, and with a hint of summer love, this hit will put a smile on everyone’s face.
Groove Theory – Tell Me
Who better to set the groove than Groove Theory? “Tell Me” is a timeless classic that provides the laid back vibe an outdoor gathering needs.
Digable Planets – Rebirth of Slick
When hip-hop and jazz met it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship that crossed generations. “Rebirth of Slick” will get everyone from grandpa, to the grandkids, talkin’ music.
Boyz II Men – Motownphilly
Boyz II Men didn’t have a lot of party jams, but “Motownphilly” has always been an invite to get up and dance.
Heavy D and the Boyz – Nuttin’ But Love
BBQs are a place where money doesn’t matter, as we all have “Nuttin’ But Love” for each other. Heavy D sets the tone perfectly with this one.
Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock – It Takes Two
Wanna see the old heads (yes, I’m qualifying myself as an “old head”) break out some classic dance moves? Throw on “It Takes Two” and see what happens.
Naughty By Nature – Hip-Hop Hooray
The anthem of anthems, and further evidence that Treach is the most underrated emcee of all-time, “Hip-Hop Hooray” has always been a feel-good jam that fits in perfectly with good weather, and good times.
Aaliyah – Are You That Somebody
Aaliyah was taken from us far too soon, but she left us with a plethora of incredible songs. “Are You That Somebody” has worked its way into the “classic” category, and has become a summertime staple.
Biz Markie – Just A Friend
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, will sing along when “Just A Friend” comes on.
Sugarhill Gang – Apache
BBQs are great places to break out old dances, and when “Apache” comes on you can expect a good number of people to “jump on it” and show their skills. I’ve even seen kids know this dance, which means the youth are not lost!
Tony Toni Tone – Let’s Get Down
Good, upbeat, danceable R&B is necessary at every BBQ, and while Tony Toni Tone are more known for their ballads, “Let’s Get Down” is a jam that still gets people movin’.
Bobby Brown – Every Little Step
Ignore the caricature Bobby Brown became, and focus on how fantastic his music once was. “Every Little Step” is a fun, happy, song that’s undeniably great.
De La Soul – My, Myself & I
Classic hip-hop is a staple of great BBQ soundtracks, and there’s nothing better than letting some members of the Native Tongues fam guide a section of your playlist.
A Tribe Called Quest – Award Tour
Speaking of the Native Tongues fam, A Tribe Called Quest is a necessity at every cookout, as well. Just make sure it’s a relatively clean Tribe song so your gathering is still kid friendly.
The Pharcyde – Drop
No matter where you are in the world, a BBQ should have a bit of a Cali vibe, and who better to provide that than Cali legends The Pharcyde? Don’t drop the ball, include “Drop” in your BBQ soundtrack.
LL Cool J – Loungin’
You’re loungin’ when you’re at a BBQ, right? Let LL’s “Loungin’” set the mood.
Mariah Carey – Fantasy (Remix)
There are a plethora of Mariah Carey songs that would be perfect for a BBQ soundtrack (no, not “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Stop it!). The remix to “Fantasy,” featuring the legendary ODB, is our top choice.
Nice-n-Smooth – Hip-Hop Junkies
An all-time great hip-hop song that will get everybody in a good mood, “Hip-Hop Junkies” sticks in your head like good BBQ sticks to your ribs.
TLC – Baby Baby Baby
Everyone needs a little TLC at their BBQ (the R&B group, not the network that brought us Honey Boo Boo).
Us3 – Cantaloop
If you want to see people dance at your BBQ, playing “Cantaloop” is a can’t-miss way to make that happen.
Soul for Real – Every Little Thing I Do
While you wouldn’t want any (candy) rain to dampen your outdoor affair, “Every Little Thing I Do” will provide a great vibe.
112 w/ The Notorious B.I.G. & Ma$e – Only You
It’s tough to find a clean song with Biggie on it, but 112’s “Only You” comes as close as one can get, and it’s a classic.
Da Brat – Funkdafied
Remember Da Brat? She was DOPE, and “Funkdafied” will still get everybody’s head nodding.
Montell Jordan – This Is How We Do It
I mean, is it even really a party if “This Is How We Do It” isn’t spun?
Zhane – Hey Mr. DJ
Let the DJ get a little self-referential with this smooth classic.
Soul II Soul – Back To Life
“Back To Life” will have the older half of your BBQ reminiscing, while the younger half asks, “What’s this amazing song?”
P.M. Dawn – Set Adrift on Memory Bliss
Smoothed out hip-hop was once considered weak. Thankfully, we’ve grown past that ideology.
P.M. Dawn’s “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss” is a smooth hip-hop classic that will put everyone in a good mood.
Deee-Lite – Groove Is in the Heart
A booty shakin’ jam featuring a guest verse by Q-Tip, “Groove Is in the Heart” will reveal who the REAL dancers at your BBQ are.
Black Sheep – The Choice Is Yours
You can get with this, or you can get with that. An incredibly memorable lyric, and a choice you’ll have to make when you realize you only have room on your plate for one more side.
Full Playlist
Knowing that clicking play on 30 videos might be a bit of a task, we’ve put every song from this feature in one handy-dandy playlist, so just click play, and soak in the vibe (and occasionally curse out YouTube for the advertisements that temporarily interrupt your vibe).

Who is Brad Paisley? The songs, tours, videos and history of the ‘Today’ star
"It's a very smart, progressive bunch, these people that make country music," Brad Paisley told the Guardian in 2010. "They're not country hicks sitting behind a desk with a big cigar giving out record deals and driving round in Cadillacs with cattle horns on the front grille: it's a bunch of really wonderful, open-minded, great people down on Music Row that make this music."
And Paisley himself is head honcho amongst this new breed of Nashville sophisticates. Almost twenty years and 12 million album sales into one of the most glittering careers in modern country music, he’s one of the few country stars standing up for progressiveness rather than playing to the Tea Party heartlands – even as a self-proclaimed “apolitical” singer, he celebrated Obama’s Presidential term with a song called ‘Welcome To The Future’ tackling the history of racism in the south, and played at the White House. He’s also broken out of the country niche to win over the Billboard charts – five of his eleven studio albums have reached the Billboard Number Two – and become one of the few US country stars to break into the UK Top 40. But how did this Stetson’d heartthrob get here? Here’s all you need to know.
What’s Brad Paisley’s age and history?
Born on October 28, 1972 (he’s 44) Paisley was raised in Glen Dale, West Virginia, where his grandfather bought him his first guitar and taught him to play at the age of eight. "Pretty soon, I was performing at every Christmas party and Mother's Day event,” he said. “The neat thing about a small town is that when you want to be an artist, by golly, they'll make you one."
At 13 he formed his first band Brad Paisley And The C-Notes and wrote his first song ‘Born On Christmas Day’, which made him even more of a Glen Dale celebrity as he played it at local Rotary Club events and landed himself a regular gig on a West Virginia radio station. He graced the airwaves weekly for eight years, until his studies took him to his spiritual home of Nashville and the rest of America got to sample his talents. Hooking up with his future songwriting partners at Belmont University, Paisley was signed to EMI Music Publishing within a week of graduation and had his first single ‘Who Needs Pictures’ released on Arista Nashville by February 1999.
The next eighteen years were like a bronco-bucking rocket ride. His first album ‘Who Needs Pictures’ went platinum, spawned two US Country Number Ones and garnered Paisley his first of many Grammy nominations. By his second album ‘Part II’ he was luring the likes of Jerry Springer to make a guest appearance in the video for his breakthrough novelty hit ‘I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishing Song)’ – about his partner giving him a fishing-or-me ultimatum; he picks fishing – and by third album ‘Mud On The Tires’ in 2003 he was getting product placement sponsorship from Chevrolet to mention them in the Number One title track and the likes of Jason Alexander, James Belushi and William Shatner were cropping up in the promo for ‘Celebrity’, spoofing American Idol, Fear Factor and The Bachelorette.
Come 2005’s ‘Time Well Wasted’ he was singing with the legendary Dolly Parton, by 2007’s ‘5th Gear’ he was collecting his first Grammy and in 2009 he broke records with his tenth Billboard country Number One in a row. How big was Brad Paisley? Taylor Swift was supporting him.
What’s Brad Paisley’s biggest song?
2011’s self-explanatory ‘This Is Country Music’ featured a host of collaborations with stars such as Don Henley, Sheryl Crow and a whistling Clint Eastwood (no, really). But the album’s biggest hit was the Carrie Underwood duet ‘Remind Me’, a raunchy epic which hit Number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, Paisley’s biggest mainstream hit to date. It racked up over 71 million views on Youtube and helped keep Paisley firmly in the public eye for the rest of the early ‘10s. Subsequent albums tackled more socially conscious topics such as xenophobia, spousal abuse, social justice, southern racism and religion as Paisley matured into his more established country lynchpin role.
What was the controversy over ‘Accidental Racist?’
Paisley ran into controversy over the song ‘Accidental Racist’ from 2013’s ‘Wheelhouse’ album, with critics taking issue with guest artist LL Cool J rapping lines such as “If you don't judge my gold chains, I'll forget the iron chains” and the song’s attempt to reappropriate the Confederate flag. Yup, Brad, too soon…
How did he get to ‘Today’?
‘Today’ is the life-affirming hit from Paisley’s most recent album ‘Love And War’, a record featuring major glitterati guest spots from Timbaland, John Fogerty, Bill Anderson and Mick Jagger – his collaboration with Demi Lovato didn’t make the cut. It’s a typically heartwarming Paisley ditty which arrived with a video full of footage of fans proposing onstage at his gigs and Paisley announcing the sex of couples’ unborn babies to arena crowds. Awwww.
Who is Brad Paisley’s partner?
In 1991, Brad took his girlfriend to see the film Father Of The Bride, starring Steve Martin and Kimberly Williams. Come 1995 they’d split up and he went to see the sequel on his own. Another six years later, he began dating the bride in question - "She seems like a great girl,” he told Good Housekeeping, “smart and funny and all those things that are so hard to find." In 2003 they married and now have two children. Talk about a Hollywood ending.
What is Brad Paisley’s net worth?
According to the Celebrity Net Worth website, Paisley makes between $20 million and $40 million per year and is currently worth a grand total of $95 million. That’s a whole lot of fishing rods.
Has Brad written an autobiography?
Darn right he has. 2011 saw the publication of Diary of a Player: How My Musical Heroes Made a Guitar Man Out of Me, the story of his youth and early career co-written with Rolling Stone’s David Wild. If you’ve any more questions, consider it your next stop.
