While you were busy gearing up for Coachella travels, there were other celebrations to be had in music across the country. From Frank Ocean to festival season, here's what you missed over the weekend.
34th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is one of the highest and most coveted honors for musicians, and the class of 2017 was rightly deserving of their achievements. The prestigious ceremony was held at the Barclay's Center in New York City on Friday night (April 7), with musical greats like Pearl Jam, Journey, Yes, Electric Light Orchestra and Joan Baez each bestowed with the immortal accolade; however, the most significant inductee of the night was West Coast hip-hop artist, Tupac Shakur.

Almost 21 years after his still-unsolved murder, Snoop Dogg took to the stage to pay homage to his old friend. “Many of you remember the thugged-out superhero. The one thought that [keeps] coming back to me is Tupac the human being: strong and vulnerable, courageous and afraid,” he recalled for the audience. Alicia Keys joined Snoop on stage to lend her vocal and piano-driven talents on “Changes” and “I Ain’t Mad at Cha” before YG, Treach and T.I. each helped perform Shakur’s hits, “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted,” “Hail Mary” and “Keep Ya Head Up,” respectively.

Congratulations to all of the inductees! The condensed version of the ceremony will air on HBO April 29.
Throwing it back to the '90s and Early '00s
Southern California was treated to a trip down memory lane this weekend for the first ever When We Were Young Music Festival, hosted by The Observatory in Santa Ana. The tiny music venue opened its doors (and makeshift parking lot setup) to a slew of huge acts like AFI, Taking Back Sunday, The Get Up Kids, Alkaline Trio and Saves the Day. Headliners The Descendants and Morrissey — yes, you read that correctly — drew the largest crowds, despite the audience being significantly younger.
The two-day lineup gave up-and-coming bands their time to shine as well, such as The Regrettes, Homeshake and Tijuana Panthers. Though the legendary musicians and their fans have gotten older, When We Were Young perfectly tapped into the need for nostalgic reunions and fans loved every moment of it.
Frank Ocean Giveth Again
All theories on interwoven sexuality references aside, Frank Ocean surprised fans with the release of “Biking” exclusively on his Blonded Beats 1 radio show on Friday night (April 7). With 2016’s Blonde still fresh on everyone’s mind, the ever-busy artist enlisted the help of Jay Z and Odd Future buddy, Tyler, the Creator on the single, the second song to be debuted in 2017 after March’s “Chanel.”

Reminiscent of Lupe Fiasco’s “Kick Push,” Ocean and his collaborators reflect on the sensations and memories of riding a bicycle, but mainly the freedom. The slow, acoustic guitar helps to evoke that nostalgia, accompanied with lyrics like "I'm bikin' uphill and it's burning my quads / I'm bikin' downhill and it sounds like a fishing rod." Read into it however you please, but do listen to the predictably perfect track and check out the video below.
The Fate of Mr. Potato Head
Following the passing of the legendary actor and comedian Don Rickles, Hollywood is still fighting back tears as many of its elite spent the weekend reflecting on Rickles’ greatest roles — and punchlines. But in the midst of mourning, it was brought to everyone’s attention that the comedian’s role as the well-loved Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story franchise had not been planned out in advance.

Because the upcoming film is still in its infancy stages and not expected to debut until 2019, Rickles’ voiceover work had not been pre-recorded. One solution would be to re-create his voice digitally, using his work from the previous movies like they did with Paul Walker for Furious 7. However, because the movie’s plot is unknown, nothing is certain about the direction his character will take and will likely have to be adjusted to account for the actor’s passing. Regardless of how they go about it, there’s no doubt that Disney and Pixar won’t give Mr. Potato Head a beautiful and comedically appropriate sendoff in honor of the late Rickles.
Kendall Jenner Returns Home Post-Pepsigate
After finishing up her prior work obligations abroad and probably hoping a lot of the tension resulting from Pepsigate would settle, Kendall Jenner returned home to Los Angeles on Friday night (April 7_. Her typical sunny demeanor and devil-may-care attitude had been replaced with dark shades and a hand held up in an attempt to prevent prying eyes from noticing her dispirited expression. And who can blame her? Well, a lot of people do, but that’s a whole separate debate.
Fans of Keeping Up With The Kardashians know that the second youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner siblings is constantly trying to find ways to stand up for issues of importance. Remember the episode where she helps Will.I.Am. by starring in the new video for the Black Eyed Peas coexistence anthem, “Where Is The Love?” While it may take a while for the sting of social media brutality and late night talk show criticism to fade, the supermodel at least has her famous family to turn to for comfort and advice during this trying time — either in Kris Jenner’s kitchen or on one of her sister’s gigantic, neutral-colored couches, and certainly on camera.

Thank You For Flying Delta...Eventually
Just when it seemed as though the Delta Airlines fiasco might subside, the Georgia-based company was forced to continue their flight cancelations well into Saturday. By then, the fourth day of travel delays due to the aftermath of inclement weather and oversold Spring Break flights had officially begun affecting not only travelers, but now pilots and stewardesses too. Their typically rigid schedules had to take on a volunteer or on call approach, reporting to work in their street clothes if necessary and even helping serve over 700 boxes of pizza to those caught in the disarray.

However, with vacations dwindling down. the Atlanta outfit — which sees about 60 percent of the company’s total flights on a daily basis — is expected to reach a state of normalcy by Sunday. In the event of upcoming travel via Delta, be sure to keep those fingers crossed and check flight statuses regularly.
The iPhone 8 Could Be Delayed
It’s only April, but devoted Apple customers are already counting down the days until the annual September unveiling and pre-ordering of the new flagship phone, the iPhone 8. But before you start packing your camping tents and sleeping bags to gain an early spot in line, you may have to wait a few months longer.

Apple
Although not officially announced by Apple, rumor has it that the mysterious mobile device is still undergoing developmental issues. The alleged 4.7, 5.5 and 5.8 inch versions are apparently having trouble supporting the spiffy new 3D sensing technology. Despite consumers having only myths and hypotheses supporting their excitement, it’s believed that the new iPhone series will be delayed until October or November, possibly launching alongside the 7s and 7s Plus.
Omarosa Weds
Omarosa Manigault officially became Mrs. John Allen Newman on Saturday (April 8), after saying “I do” at Donald Trump’s fancy International Hotel in Washington, D.C.. Even with her White House staffing status, President Trump — whom she got to know during her time spent on the inaugural season of The Apprentice in 2004 — was nowhere to been found in the crowd of friends and family there to wish the newlyweds well.

This is the second marriage for Manigault, who was previously engaged to award winning actor, Michael Clarke Duncan, prior to his heart attack and subsequent death two months later in 2012. The former reality TV villain had began working towards her Doctor in Ministry degree years earlier, becoming an ordained minister just months before his passing. Although Manigault decided to re-enter politics in support of Trump — and has been publicly bashed for it — hopefully the newly married couple was able to find enough peace to enjoy their wedding day. Hats off to the happy couple!
