10 Cringeworthy Old-School Celebrity Myspace Profiles

We’ll never get tired of re-visiting the vintage Myspace days and discovering more and more gems. Today we’ve put our designer’s cap on and studied the profiles of some well-known celebrities who used to dedicate a lot of their time to reading PMs, posting bulletins and coming up with elaborate layouts. And when we say “elaborate,” we mean bold but not-so-beautiful.

Here are 10 celebrity profiles that definitely would not have made our Top 8.

Kim Kardashian

These days everything Kim K does is news-worthy — including her old Myspace profile. But back in 2005 she was a mainly unknown Myspace gal with a very limited amount of online friends. Her old page is not all horrible per se, but it’s hilarious compared to her current status of certified Internet breaker. Princess Kimberly’s pre-stardom phase included an “I’m a princess and you’re not so there!” quote in the bio, aspirations to meet God and desire to have kids “someday”. And it was all in pink, obvi.

Kendall Jenner

Talking about Keeping Up With Kardashians, let’s re-visit some of the profiles of other socialites’ Myspace past. Here’s Kendall’s old profile, which unsurprisingly read “It’s All About Me”. That psychedelic filtered selfie as a profile picture? Guess the then-16 year old was just prophesying her oncoming Coachella boho reign.

Kylie Jenner

“KYLIE ROCKS,” 16 year old Kylie Jenner posted on her Myspace profile, which also included a cute triple-selfie with two of her unidentified BFFs. Interesting fact: both Kendall and Kylie abandoned their Myspace profiles just a week before Keeping Up With Kardashians premiered in 2007.

Lana Del Rey

These days we know Lana Del Rey as the "National Anthem" reciting retro Hollywood melancholic diva and looking at her old Myspace profile proves that she always had a soft spot for fireworks. She also loved sparkLing pink logos that read “Baby Girl.”

Before adopting the Lana Del Rey persona, the singer was using her real name Lizzy Grant and sported a blonde ‘do. She later picked another stage name – May Jailer – before finally settling with the one we all know. Her old Myspace profiles (collected by loyal fans here) are a fascinating study of an artist’s creative journey, which certainly had its fair share of visually appalling bumps in the road, like the one below:

Katy Perry

What’s the reason we’re not keen on Katy Perry’s 2007 Myspace layout? It’s easy: why so serious? When you have a pink-loving personality-heavy popstar-in-the-making such as pre-“I Kissed A Girl” Katy Perry, why do you use black as your background color? But we have to give it to Katy (or to “POP-ROCK DYNAMO KATY PERRY” as her blog entry read): she was clearly “getting there” in terms of aesthetics. Read a detailed study of her profile here.

Harry Styles

The internet made it so much harder to look cool when your teenage years are just one click away from embarrassing the living hell out of yourself. Take a look at One Direction member-turned-solo-star Harry Styles. At least he was already experimenting with pop art on his profile picture.

Kanye West

His style may be ultra-sleek these days, but 10 years ago Yeezus (or “KanYe West”) was having some serious composition issues as seen on his 2007’s Myspace profile. Even his profile picture at the time was cropped in a weird way.

Nicki Minaj

“I know my lane is probably going to be 'sex sells,' but at the end of the day, I know I've got skills,” read Nicki Minaj’s 2008 Myspace profile. Are these layout skills she’s talking about? Because looking at this glorious hot mess of a page we have to agree with Minaj. How many people do you think thought they stumbled across a porn star’s page when they got on this lollipop-heavy profile? And then there was this gem in 2009:

Justin Bieber

It is too late to say "Sorry" about Biebs' 2008 profile. His main focus at the time (apart from making YouTube videos and writing songs) was dealing with all these #fakers. No wonder his vintage Myspace bio read:

“Yes its the real Justin. : p  Most ppl know me as kidrauhl from YouTube. You can tell this profile is real if you look on my YouTube. If you guys see any impostors pretending to be me, please tell everyone on their friends list.”

Oh, and he also loved his action movies: “i like rocky 1 2 3 4 5 and rocky balboa the newest one!!”

But this profile picture? Like, seriously?

Lady Sovereign

Before Lady Gaga, there was another lady on the charts — British rapper Lady Sovereign. And let’s say she didn’t stay on charts for long. We do, however, love what she has put under Band Members: “check the video diaries on my website , ha, see me in action. NOT THAT TYPE OF ACTION - don't get excited, maaann. ha! ha!”

Oh, and in case you’ve got a time machine, you can take a trip to Sov Shop:
