Listen to Trashclub's "Wanna Wanna" Exclusively on Myspace!

While some bands dig deep into their previous experiences, Los Angeles band, Trashclub, decided to find inspiration in an iconic New York City band.

"'Wanna Wanna' came together out of a Dos Equis-soaked jam session," drummer Travis Bunn tells Myspace. "We were aiming for a more stripped-down approach, trying to channel the Ramones. They're the best at saying more with less and stripping everything away to just get to the point. I love their approach to simplicity."

Like the '70s punk band's attention to lyrical simplicity, Trashclub wanted to go for something straightforward, too.

"Lyrically, I was just feeding off the energy of the music which felt pretty carefree and reckless," he says. "The lines "I wanna wake up, I wanna make a run" are mostly about breaking that boring ass, comfortable routine that's so easy to fall in to - where you look up and a year goes by without you even realizing."

"Wanna Wanna" is off their debut EP, Black Out, which drops on March 10 via Position Music.
